Wednes 10/18

2:57pm, dispatched to traumatic injuries at Surfers Knoll Groin. 32 y/o male washed off the jetty and sustaining intermediate injuries. Transported by AMR.

Thursday 10/19

1:33pm, observed a surfer in distress near Ventura Pier, succumbed to large surf. Operator aboard RWC pulled the distressed surfer from the water, took to shore.

Friday 10/20

4:24pm, Harbor Patrol Officers attending a Prime Rib dinner hosted by the Ventura Yacht Club in appreciation of their service to the boating community.

Saturday 10/21

4:10pm, dispatched to PWC in distress just outside the harbor. Officers responded, pulled 2 persons from the water. Assessing for exposure, patients refused further care. Tow Boat US assisted with towing submerged PWC.

Sunday 10/22

6:15am, observed NWS issued Gale Warning, raised warning pennants.

4:45pm, contacted two hoop net fishermen at the Launch Ramp, advised of the Gale Warning and the dangerous winds predicted. The pair decide to not go out.

Monday 10/23

1:36pm, observed a motor vessel in violation of speed ordinance in the main channel. Contacted via VHF 16, issued warning and gained compliance.

6:15pm, observed NWS issued Small Craft Advisory, illuminated warning lights

Tuesday 10/24

3:25am, dispatched to unconscious patient in Ventura Marina Community. Officers performed life saving efforts, but patient was unfortunately deceased.

4:30pm, observed a transient sailboat at the launch ramp. Officers contacted skipper and advised they were not welcome from previous defrauding. Warned of issuing a citation for securing without permission and the vessel departed.

Wednes 10/25

11:50am, received request for a boating accident report from July. No report was ever taken, officers advising of need to generate a report within 10 days.

12:30pm, received complaint about boat owners using paintball guns to deter sea lions from destroying their property. Officers attempted to explain how NOAA outlined several legal methods for removing the mammals, but the complainant refused to acknowledge that the boaters were well within their rights to do so.

Thursday 10/26

1:33pm, contacted small skiff inside the breakwall engaged in fishing. Safety inspection revealed they were short a lifejacket. Officers issued loaner lifejacket.

2:15pm, assisted a 24ft motor vessel in the turning basin with engine failure. Officers took the vessel en short tow to the launch ramp, released.

Friday 10/27

9:20am, officers giving a presentation about water/beach safety talk. A hands-on exercise of sand entrapment and extricating an object intended to be a person.

Saturday 10/28

6:53am, observed NWS issued Small Craft Advisory, raised warning pennant.

4:12pm, dispatched to a fall in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded, assessed a 74 y/o female. Patient care taken over by VFD/AMR.

Sunday 10/29

2:37am, dispatched to a fall in Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted a male up, no injuries occurred, canceled responding units.

8:25pm, received request for a tow from a 32ft powerboat near the #2 buoy with engine failure. Officers responded and assisted Tow Boat US with the tow.

Monday 10/30

2:50pm, officers taking city manager and Ventura Port Commissioners on a boat tour of the harbor in Rescue Boat 19.

Wednesday
9/27

6:22pm, while on patrol officers removed a hazard to navigation, 4ft log in the Pierpont Basin. The log was taken to the launch ramp and thrown away.

10:50pm, received request to assist PD with a theft investigation. The individual overstaying his welcome at L/R had battery stolen. Incident under investigation.

Thursday
9/28

11:33am, while on patrol in truck, receiving multiple complaints/inquiries about the large construction project (Ventura Water Pure) occurring through Anchors Way, Marina Park and eventually into the ocean just outside Marina Park.

2:45pm, observed a vehicle unable to pull vessel/trailer up the ramp due to low tide. Officers attached tow line to vehicle, were able to pull it up launch ramp.

9/29

6:00pm, lobster season begins. Officers taking Fish & Wildlife wardens out to check on lobster fishing regulation violations. Issued several warnings, observed approximately 180 hoop nets deployed just in the sandtrap area.

Saturday
9/30

3:55am, received Mayday call VHF-16, 50ft fishing vessel with broken rudder arm 1 mile outside harbor. Officers responded in Fireboat, took the vessel en tow near the #2 buoy and towed to their slip at VHV A-dock.

10/1

10:01am, received report of an overdue vessel, out rigger canoe with 6 POB’s. Officers responded in Fireboat, located vessel off the Ventura Pier, in no distress

10/2

4:45pm, received request to assist a capsized sailboat in the entrance of the harbor. Officers responded in Fireboat and after several attempts were able to successfully right the small sailboat with 2 POB’s, that were pulled from water.

Wednes 9/13

5:00pm, monitored a 40ft sailboat en route to the Ventura YC looking for the guest dock. Officers met the vessel and escorted to the dock.

Thursday 9/14

2:46pm, dispatched to diabetic seizures at VWM D-dock. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with the patient on their vessel.

4:55pm, received report from City of Ventura employee that their laptop was left on the bumper, fell off while driving away and that a transient picked it up and ran off into the Arundo south of Surfers Knoll. Officers searched, but UTL.

Friday 9/15

2:20am, received report of an individual acting strangely, honking horn and seemingly in distress. Officers responded, found the vehicle and contacted an extremely upset person. After a conversation, the person felt better and left.

8:45am, received a float plan from the Hokuloa canoe club. They are paddling from Ventura Harbor to Santa Cruz Island tomorrow, will return Sunday.

Saturday 9/16

11:40am, received report of a distraught female who lost her keys at the Marina Park dock. Officers responded, assisted her with a ride home to Oxnard shores.

Sunday 9/17

7:57am, received a float plan from 2 kayakers planning on paddling around Santa Rosa Island after being dropped off by Island Packers.

3:45pm, received report that the Hokuloa canoe club had returned from Santa Cruz Island safely with no issues.

Tuesday 9/19 1:40pm, received report of a older female attempting to cross the road near the launch ramp. Officers responded and were able to assist her to a nearby bench.

Wednes 9/20

2-5pm, Harbor Patrol officers conducting Water Rescue training with Ventura City Fire, consisting of lifeguarding skills and utilizing the Fireboat.

9:11pm, received report of a VIM tenant over-serving a 32 y/o male who is now intoxicated and acting aggressively towards his mother. Officers responded and escorted the female to her vessel, her son was passed out, no longer a problem.

Thursday 9/21

8:16pm, contacted by an irate female transient reporting her purse was stolen by homeless males. Officers advised to contact VPD to report theft, she ran off upset eventually knocking over trash cans in Surfers Knoll parking lot.

Friday 9/22

4:28am, dispatched to brush fire near Surfers Knoll. Officers responded with VFD and assisted with pulling hose from parking lot to extinguish the fire.

Saturday 9/23

12:05pm, received complaint of 3 juveniles fishing on the rip rap near the Harbor Cove Café. Officers responded in Fireboat and issued warning.

3:45pm, received multiple reports of a capsized sailboat near the Patrol Dock. Officers responded in Fireboat, righted small sailboat, mast was stuck in the mud

Sunday 9/24

11:20am, received a request to remove a dead sea lion from the Derecktor docks. Officers responded in Fireboat, towed the mammal out to sea.

11:45am, received request for assistance removing a large sea lion that was blocking access for a Derecktor marina tenant. Officers responded in the Fireboat and convinced the large “knot-head” to move to another dock .

Tuesday 9/26

6:28pm, observed weather service issued a Small Craft Advisory, raised pennant

3:10pm, received report of a disabled sailboat becalmed 2 miles south of the harbor. Officers responded, found 41ft sailboat and towed the vessel to boatyard haul out slip for repairs to the engine.

9-5pm, officers attending Police and Fire expo at their headquarters.

Sunday 8/27

8:16am, dispatched to 2 missing single outrigger canoes. The pair disappeared in a heavy fog bank. Officers searched in the Fireboat, found the pair in harbor.

2:40pm, dispatched to a kayak in distress near the #2 buoy. Officers responded in Fireboat, found kayak not distressed, advised skipper of small craft advisory.

Monday 8/28

8:51am, received report of an audible alarm sounding on a vessel in Portside marina. Officers responded, found nothing suspicious, contacted owner to secure

Tuesday 8/29

6:03am, observed weather service issued Small Craft Advisory, raised pennant.

7:35pm, received report of a vessel accident in the keys between two electric boats, one was moored. Officers responded and investigated the incident. No major damage or injuries reported or observed.

Thursday 8/31

3:05pm, while on patrol in the Fireboat, officers removing hazards to navigation, large logs, branches and even trees. All items towed to the L/R for removal.

Friday 9/1

4:00pm, dispatched to back pain in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded with VFD/AMR assisted a 75 y/o female to the ambulance.

5:03pm, observed then reported a domestic dispute to PD in a vehicle near 1567 Spinnaker Dr. An aggressive female was eventually arrested after investigation.

Saturday 9/2

10:15am, contacted a boat club skipper for speeding in the main channel of the harbor, issued verbal warning for the violation.

Monday 9/4

10-6pm, beaches and village were very crowded, the ocean was very dangerous with large South Swell, fortunately nothing major occurred during the holiday.

4:20pm, while on patrol observed State Parks executing an ocean rescue, officers assisted with transporting the inexperienced surfer to Harbor Cove uninjured.

Wednes 9/6

9:39am, received multiple complaints regarding the owner of the sailboat at the L/R dock. Officers reminded the individual of his temporary permission to dock, inquiring of his progress gathering safety equipment so USCG will let him leave.

Thursday 9/7

10:02pm, officers working with Ventura PD to assist an individual living in his RV near the village and trying to find options for parking his vehicle.
 
Saturday 9/9 2:13pm, dispatched to an ocean rescue, capsized kayak 8 miles offshore. Officers responded in Fireboat with multiple agencies. Dewatered the kayak for VC sheriff so they could transport it to the owner in CI harbor who was pulled from the water by VC sheriff helicopter.

Sunday 9/10

10:35am, received a complaint from a female transient that other transients are stealing her personal items. Advised her of the procedure to file a report with local law enforcement for lost or stolen property.

3:41pm, observed fuel odor near the village commercial docks. Officers found a source, one of the purse seiners. After investigation, the captain believed the contaminants came from their tender and were able to mitigate and clean up.

Monday 9/11

6:20am, once again, Small Craft Advisory issued, raised warning pennant.

9:50am, dispatched to fall in Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded with AMR/VFD to the call. The patient was uninjured, lift assist only.

4:18pm, dispatched to difficulty breathing in the riverbottom, homeless camp. Officers responded with VFD into the bamboo south of Surfers Knoll. The patient was transported to AMR ambulance in the Surfers Knoll lot.

11:55pm, heard a loud explosion, receiving multiple calls inquiring about it. After investigation, US coast guard called it was a event from Vanderberg.

Tuesday 9/12

11:47am, dispatched to 76 y/o female with chest pain in Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded with VFD/AMR and assisted the patient who was eventually transported to local hospital for further treatment.

Wednes 8/16

9:20am, received report of petroleum sheen near VIM E/F docks. Officers searched all vessels in the area, unable to locate a source for the spill.

8:00pm, dispatched to a fall in the Village. Officers responded with VFD and assisted an intoxicated male who was transported to hospital by AMR.

Thursday 8/17

6:01pm, dispatched to a traffic collision on Spinnaker. Officers responded, found no accident occurred, a transient stating she was robbed of 20k by passing car.

7:36pm, received report of an inflatable raft sinking in the keys. Officers responded in Fireboat, transported the pair back to the Marina Park dock.

Friday 8/18

8:35pm, dispatched to an unoccupied kayak 1 mile offshore of Little Rincon. Officers responded in Fireboat with multiple agencies to the Search/Rescue.

After searching area found a 55-gallon drum with a flag, likely mistaken identity

9:33pm, escorting a 100ft yacht to find its berth at VHV C-dock after it was evacuated from Avalon Harbor due to foul weather from hurricane Hilary.

Saturday 8/19

7:33am, observed the Santa Clara Rivermouth breech while on patrol.

4:15pm, dispatched to multiple persons caught in a rip current near South Jetty. Officers responded in Fireboat helped State Parks with returning victims to shore

5:30pm, dispatched to multiple person rescue at Surfers Knoll groin. Officers responded in Fireboat and assisted state parks with the ocean rescue.

Sunday 8/20

2:47pm, observed a 5.0 earthquake near Ojai. Officers checking all areas of responsibility for damage or injuries. Nothing found initially.

4:18pm, dispatched to a sick person in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded with VFD/AMR to assist the patient.

7:33pm, observed a jetski trailer at the launch ramp. Due to Hilary storm, officers responded in Fireboat to search for the personal watercraft. While searching, the PWC had returned to the launch ramp and hauled out.

Monday 8/21

7:10am, observed a lot of debris from the river and barranca throughout harbor.

1:40pm, while on patrol in Fireboat, officers removed hazards to navigation from the storm throughout harbor. Large branches and all other sorts of debris.

Tuesday 8/22

4:39am, observed a 3.9 earthquake aftershock from Sunday’s earthquake.

12:30pm, removing all types of debris from the harbor from the storm.

Wednes 8/23

7:30pm, received report of a female transient attempting to board vessels in village. Officers contacted subject and warned of trespassing, she moved on.

Thursday 8/24

3:53am, dispatched to a sick person in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded, patient disclosed they were Covid 19 positive. Fire captain released most responders stating, “There is no need for us all to get Covid!”

5:52pm, dispatched to a behavioral emergency at VWM A-dock. Once on scene the patient was distraught a romantic interest met online was no longer communicating with the patient. Offered condolences, advised unable to assist.

Friday 8/25

8:01pm, received missing person report from daughter of a mother last seen in her wedding dress. She was married on a vessel in the harbor. Advised we would “B-O-L-O” for missing mother. Did not locate the missing during shift.

8/2

6:05pm, dispatched to a child locked in a vehicle at the Portside apartments. Officers responded with VFD, found vehicle in carport and were able to gain entry to the vehicle to release the small child to their parents.

Thursday 8/3

3:15pm, observed two Personal Watercraft exiting the Keys in violation of speed and wake ordinance. Made contact, issued warnings and conducted safety inspection that uncovered out of date registration.

8/4

2:05pm, received report of hazardous material spill near the trash enclosures in the Harbor Village. Officers assisted VPD maintenance with containment. Harrison trash will fully clean up the accident tomorrow.

Saturday 8/5

9:37am, received report of a hazard to navigation, capsized peddle boat in the main channel of the keys. Officers responded, found, towed the vessel to dock.

Sunday
8/6

8:40am, assisting State Parks with lifeguard tryouts at San Buena Ventura Beach. Officers responded in Rescue B19 and Rescue personal watercraft to monitor 65 lifeguard candidates participating in timed swim tests.

9:45am, observed two kayaks capsized at the harbor entrance. Officer on the Rescue personal watercraft took the two persons onboard and towed the kayaks to the longdock for dewatering and re-launching of the vessels.

4:33pm, observed two kayaks in distress on the outside of the South Jetty of the Harbor. Officers were in the Fireboat, pulled three victims onto the boat and towed two kayaks back into Harbor Cove, dropping off victims there also.

8/8

10:00am, officers attending ocean rescue training with Oxnard, Ventura and Ventura County Fire departments near Oxnard Shores. The Fireboat and Rescue Watercraft were utilized to practice lifeguarding rescue techniques.

4:45pm, received report of an injured sealion near VWM A-dock. Relayed Channel Islands Marine Wildlife Inst (CIMWI) contact info 805 567-1505.

8/9

1:10am, found an unresponsive female in the Launch ramp restrooms. Officers were able to gain response, remove her from the restroom, assist calling friend.

8:10pm, issued warning for blinding lights to Fishing vessel Endeavor.

8/10

11:55pm, while on patrol, officers removed local transients from L/R restroom’s.

Friday
8/11

4:40pm, received request for safety equipment requirements. Officers assisted boater with “ABC’s” of boating and requirements for a 16ft motor vessel.

10:10pm, observed 40 young adults at Surfers Knoll preparing for a beach fire. Officers informed the group of the ordinances for illegal fires. The group left.

8/12

10:20am, dispatched to a stingray strike, fisherman was struck near Harbor Cove

12:25p, officers contacted, then removed an illegal fruit stand vendor at Harbor Cove. The vendor unwillingly complied, advised they need permits to operate.

Sunday
8/13

12:59am, dispatched to Portside complex for a fall victim. Officers responded with AMR/VFD and assisted the elder male up and onto his bed, no injuries.

4:35pm, observed “Swan” peddle boat beset by the strong winds, in danger of colliding with moored vessels. Officers in RB19 were able to take the vessel en tow back to the rental dock. Later, found 2 rental SUP paddlers needing a tow.

8/14

3:05pm, observed a large motor vessel on the rip rap near Patrol Office. Officers responded in Rescue B19 and by foot to assist the disabled vessel.

The vessel was taken en tow to their slip in the boatyard haul out dock.

Tuesday
8/15

1:32pm, received report of commercial vessel pumping petroleum into the harbor. Officers investigated, found a sheen but were unable to locate the source. Multiple vessels appeared to be suspicious, could have caused the spill

Tuesday 7/18

7:35am, officers on patrol in the vehicle, came across a new homeless camp near Surfers Knoll with several tents and lots of stuff. Left warnings on tents.

6:45pm, while on patrol in the vehicle, observed a female changing a flat tire. Officers offered to help, and were able to put on the spare tire.

Wednes 7/19

11:57pm, received report of two missing women last seen leaving business in the village. Officers responded and were able to locate the pair on the beach.

Thursday 7/20

3:45pm, received report of dogs in a locked vehicle. Officers responded, found the dogs in a vehicle near the Harbor Village. The windows were rolled down, the dogs only in distress when reporting party was demanding arresting owner.

10:00pm, received report of juveniles trespassing/fishing at the pond in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded, kids fled the scene on E-bikes

Saturday 7/22 11:53am, officers contacting skipper of a large yacht, “Veloce” for reckless and negligent operation, full speed through a small sailboat regatta and main channel

11:55pm, received report of a transient sleeping in the elevator of the timeshare. Officers responded and after several attempts to open the elevator, transient left.

Sunday 7/23

3:28am, dispatched to a vehicle fire in the VIM lot. Officers responded, found a fully involved vehicle. The owner was on scene, sleeping in the vehicle, unsure how the fire started. VFD put out fire, incident is under investigation.

Monday 7/24

7:02am, contacted a group of transients sleeping in various structures near Surfers Knoll for illegal camping. Advised need to remove items/themselves.

Wednes 7/26

6:42pm, dispatched to person bleeding near Spinnaker Dr. Officers responded with AMR/VFD, patient refused treatment, left the scene.

Thursday 7/27

1:35pm, observed an inbound vessel speeding in the harbor. Officers contacted the skipper who was a member of boating club in the harbor. Issued warning.

Friday 7/28

2:50pm, received “Mayday” call, vessel on the rocks in the sandtrap. Officers responded in Fireboat and Rescue watercraft to assist a vessel with 1 POB. Responders removed the vessel off the rocks and towed it to the launch ramp.

Saturday 7/29

10:45am, observed/responded to an ocean rescue, person in the water. Officers were on patrol in Fireboat, pulled victim from water and assisted back onto craft.

1:40pm, observed an ocean rescue, person in water/capsized kayak. Officers pulled victim from water and returned kayak and person to rental dock.

4:16pm, observed rental electric boat on the rocks near patrol office. Officers responded in Fireboat, pulled vessel off rocks, towed to the rental dock.

Sunday 7/30

10:17am, observed illegal vendor attempting to rent an innertube at Harbor Cove beach. The innertube placed at ramp with a sign, “5 dollars, first 2 hrs free.”

5:09pm, while on patrol in the truck observed heavy crowds and absolutely no parking anywhere in the harbor. VPD parking enforcement issuing citations.

Monday 7/31

2:37pm, dispatched to unconscious person at Surfers Knoll. Officers responded with AMR to 2 unconscious persons on the beach. AMR transported patients.

Tuesday 8/1

10:25am, dispatched to ocean rescue with 2 victims caught in a rip current near the Surfers Knoll groin. Officers responded in Rescue Boat 19 to assist State Parks lifeguards with the rescue. The victims were safely assisted to shore.

 

Vol. 16, No. 22 – July 26 – Aug 8, 2023 – Harbor Patrol Blotter

Tuesday 7/4

10:01am, dispatched to possible Ocean Rescue at the Ventura Pier. Officers responded in Rescue B19 and Fireboat to assist VPD with an individual who jumped the locked fence at the base of the closed pier. Officers stood by in case the individual jumped off the pier. VPD was able to arrest him without incident.

2:19pm, dispatched to overdose at the launch ramp restrooms. Officers responded with VPD/AMR to a 24 y/o male who ran, but was arrested by VPD.

5:57pm, received report of a boat operating erratically near the launch ramp, having issues docking. Officers responded and contacted the operator, who refused to talk. He retrieved his vessel and left the scene without incident.

Wednes 7/5

4:33pm, received report of a vessel operating recklessly in the surfline near Surfers Knoll jetty. Officers responded in Fireboat, contacted skipper of “lake-style” boat for violation and moved the vessel to safer water.

Thursday 7/6

5:30am, observed NWS issued Small Craft Advisory, raised warning pennant.

9:39am, received report of a diesel spill near the Ventura Boat Yard. Officers responded in the Fireboat to assist TowBoat US with containment of the spill. A boom was deployed around a commercial fishing vessel that spilled 10 gallons. The spill was contained, absorbent pads deployed. OES investigating incident.

11:35am, received report of an individual pressure washing growth off the bottom of his sailboat at the launch ramp washdown. Officers responded and found a lot of mussels/growth clogging up the drainage system. The skipper was advised of the violation, agreed to clean it up. Maintenance able to unclog drain.

4:10pm, received request to tow a 42ft sailboat from boatyard to its slip. Officers responded in Rescue B19, towed the vessel to its slip in VIM D-dock.

Friday 7/7

9:30am, received request to monitor the JG Pier Swim. Officers en route to the Ventura Pier aboard the Fireboat for the State Parks junior lifeguard swim.

12:03pm, dispatched to a fall victim in the Portside complex. Officers responded with AMR/VFD to male fall victim. No injuries, just helped up.

Saturday 7/8

1:41pm, observed Ocean Rescue, three persons in the water, fell off electric boat in Pierpont Basin. Officers responded with Fireboat and Rescue Water Craft, pulled persons out of the water and assisted back onto rental electric boat.

6:35pm, observed a small sailboat sail into and beset in kelp bed at clingers point. Before patrol could get to the vessel, the skipper had swam his sabot out and into Harbor Cove. Officers picked up the skipper and transported to L/R.

9:10pm, received report of heavy redtide conditions at VWM D-dock. Officers have been using the Fireboats monitor to aerate the water, with no effect.

Sunday 7/9

8:32am, dispatched to fall victim in Ventura Marina Community, non injury call.

5:26pm, dispatched to sick person in Ventura Marina Community, patient transported by AMR for hip pain after assistance to gurney.

Monday 7/10

9:39am, dispatched to Ocean Rescue, search for a downed aircraft. Multiple agencies and assets responded, but were unable to find reported distressed vessel

3:00pm, received report of Dreamer Rental peddle boat, “Blue Duck” in distress in the keys, caught in the wind. Officers towed the vessel back to the rental dock

Tuesday 6/06

8:55am, received report that a female transient jumped the fence to the Portside pool and locked herself into the restroom. Officers responded and were able to convince the individual to come out and leave the Portside pool.

5:20pm, received report of a petroleum spill at VHV I-dock from a commercial fishing vessel. Officers responded and found the source, were able to mitigate.

Wednes 6/07

8:00am, removed a local transient woman from the Launch Ramp restrooms. The subject went on a crazy rant, blaming everyone in ear-shot for her situation. Officers offered assistance with local charities, but she refused and ran off.

1:05pm, dispatched to a stingray strike at Harbor Cove. Officers responded with hot water to aid treatment of the puncture wound. Assisted State Parks with call.

Thursday 6/08

10:15am, dispatched to a stingray strike at Harbor Cove. Officers responded with State Parks to assist patient near Tower 3 with hot water.

4:40pm, received report of a sick/injured sealion near the Santa Clara Rivermouth from a beach comber. Officers responded, found sea lion and contacted Channel Islands Marine Wildlife Inst. (CIMWI) 805 567-1505.

Friday 6/09

4:05pm, observed two homeless persons setting up camp near Surfers Knoll, advised of no camping ordinance, they moved further back into Arundo.
Saturday 6/10 8:26am, officers taking Rescue B19 and Fireboat to assist with boating traffic control for Hokolua outrigger canoe race(s) near Harbor Cove Beach.

Sunday 6/11

9:07am, received report of a sick/injured sealion on the rip rap near the Greek Restaurant. Officers responded, found sealion suffering from demoic poisoning.

10:05am, receiving multiple reports of sick sealions through out the harbor. Relayed CIMWI contact info to notify them of the growing numbers.

12:20pm, dispatched to stingray strike at Harbor Cove, responded with hot water

Monday 6/12

6:30pm, receiving multiple reports of sick injured sea lions. Advising that a lot of sea lions have been coming ashore with symptoms of demoic poisoning.

Wednes 5/24

7:00am, training new Marine Safety Officers towing evolutions and techniques for motor and sailing vessels at Ventura Port District.

11:33pm, received report of transients loitering around the 1559 Spinnaker area courtyard. Officers responded and contacted several charging their phones.

Thursday 5/25

11:53am, received report of a disabled vessel near the Pier. Officers responded in the Fireboat and ensured safety of the 15ft whaler until Tow Boat US arrived.

Friday 5/26

6:12am, observed NWS issued a small craft advisory, officers raised pennant.

9:03pm, received complaint of a loud party at Harbor Cove. Officers responded with VPD and found 10 cars and 35 kids celebrating. Everyone was removed from the lot after VPD checked for contraband.

Saturday 5/27

7:55am, while on patrol observed a female attempting to gain access to a vehicle in the VIM lot. Officers contacted and found that locks were malfunctioning. Attempted to assist, but had to call towing company to open the vehicle.

12:40pm, found a patient at the base of the patrol office stairs with head injury. Activated EMS, VFD/AMR responded, Treated & transported 31 y/o male.

1:41pm, received report of vessel accident at VWM A-dock. Officers responded in Rescue B19 and investigated 22ft motor vessel hit by rental electric boat. The electric boat operator fled, but information was gathered from rental boat co.

Monday 5/29

8:43am, received report of a kayaker in distress near the breakwall. Officers responded in Fireboat and found 1 person in the water and capsized kayak. The person was pulled aboard fireboat and transported to boatyard dock.

Tuesday 5/30

2:01pm, received report of a petroleum spill near VWM B-dock. Officers responded and searched the area, found a small amount of fuel, no source.
Wednes 5/31 9:00am, setting aquatic rescue swim course, 500 meters, in the Pierpont Basin for lifeguard training class with Oxnard Fire Department.

8:55pm, while on patrol, contacted by male transient advising his girlfriend is doing fentanyl in the launch ramp restrooms and she won’t answer the door. After investigation with VPD, no one found in the restrooms or in general area.

Thursday 6/1

3:35pm, dispatched to fuel dock at the Launch Ramp for a fall victim. Officers responded, assisted 68 y/o female with abrasions/head pain. Patient transported.

Friday 6/2

2:35pm, dispatched to a fall victim near the South Jetty. Officers responded and assisted a female who fell down the berm towards the water line, no injury from the fall. State Parks Lifeguards, patrol officers were able to bring her back up.

7:22pm, received report of crowd of 200 high school students gathering at Surfers Knoll. Officers responded with VPD and were able to disperse crowd.

Saturday 6/3

1:30pm, received report of a significant oil spill near Anacapa Island from USCG. They requested we investigate outside Harbor. Officers responded in Fireboat 3 miles offshore, but were unable to locate any oil pollution.

3:45pm, received report of a capsized kayak and person in the water. Officers responded in Fireboat, found the victim was assisted by good Samaritans onto the dock. The victim & kayak transported to her boyfriend’s vessel in VHV.

Sunday 6/4

8:36am, received report of transient blocking traffic on Spinnaker Dr. Officers responded, found subject, issued warning, transient laughed moved out of traffic.

9:05pm, received many reports of 300 adolescents partying, lighting fireworks near Surfers Knoll. Officers responded with VPD, able to disperse the crowd.

Monday 6/5

6:50am, observed the 300 high schoolers from last night left a large mess of fireworks, alcohol and fastfood trash. Officers spent hours picking up the mess.
