Wednesday 1/28

  • 1:20pm, dispatched to unknown medical at Holiday Inn Express. Officers responded with VFD/AMR to assist, but turned out to be false alarm.
  • 7:49pm, received report of a personal watercraft dock adrift near “big beach” in the keys. Officers responded and found a good Samaritan had secured the dock to his dock near big beach.

Thursday 1/29

  • 11:30am, assisted a sailor looking for a ride to the fuel dock from Ventura Boatyard. Officers escorted him to get diesel for his sailboat.
  • 5:56pm, dispatched to a gunshot victim in Portside Apartments. Ventura PD searching for the suspect, harbor patrol staging until cleared to enter.

Friday 1/30

  • 11:20am, received “mayday” call via VHF 16 from commercial lobster boat aground near Faria. Officers responded in Harborwatch 5, deployed a rescue swimmer to assist the 4 persons onboard. All refused medical assistance. The fishing vessel was towed off the beach by TowBoat US.
  • 2:09pm, received “mayday” call from a boat club vessel on the Surfers Knoll Jetty. Once on scene, a rescue swimmer deployed for 1 person onboard. Convinced the victim to jump into the large surf and strong ripcurrent upcoast of the jetty. Clipped in victim and attempted to swim to Rescue Boat 19, but a large set of waves is impeding progress to the vessel. Rescuer swims around jetty then to shore, hands off victim to paramedics for assessment.

Saturday 1/31

  • 7:23am, while on patrol in the truck, officers observed the boat club vessel hard aground downcoast of the Surfers Knoll Jetty. Inspecting for stolen equipment.
  • 3:45pm, observed a freedom boat club vessel in violation of speed/wake ordinance in the main channel of the harbor. Officers were able to track down the vessel at the freedom club docks in Safe Harbor marina and educate skipper.
  • 9:10pm, while on patrol in Rescue Boat 19, officers conducting vessel inspections of fishermen hoop netting at the detached breakwall. Educating skippers with insufficient safety equipment and illegal placement of nets.
  • 9:54pm, dispatched to overdose at Harbor Village commercial docks. Officers responded, administered dose of Narcan, patient conscious, medics took over.

Sunday 2/1

  • 7:45am, dispatched to sick person at VIM H-dock. Officers responded and assisted VFD with patient assessment and treatment.
  • 11:30am, returning a found commercial lobster trap to local fisherman.
  • 9:03pm, contacted by owner of a Jeep Grand Cherokee that was broke down on Spinnaker Drive. Advised to put a note on dashboard so VPD won’t ticket it.

Monday 2/2

  • 5:15am, commercial fishing vessel broke free from slip, adrift near VWM G- dock. The vessel collided with a moored vessel in VWM. Contacted owner.
  • 7:45am, observed a derelict sailboat at VWM H-dock broke free. Officers were able to secure the vessel without any damage occurring.
  • 8:00-12pm, officers conducting towing and dewatering training with Ventura County Sheriffs and their patrol boat.
  • 9:10pm, received report of cement docks tied to a barge near the launch ramp have broke free and in danger of colliding with boats because of heavy surges.
