Harbor Patrol Blotter

Tuesday 1/20

1:32am, dispatched to difficulty breathing in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded with VFD/AMR to assist with patient treatment.

8:04am, officers upgrading “tide-stick” on the long dock of the Port District.

8:30am, assisting with traffic control for Manson maintenance dredging equipment being towed into the harbor.  Tenders towing 1200ft of pipe.

Wed  1/21  

10:33am, while on patrol in Rescue Boat 19, observed a hazard-to-navigation, 35ft long tree adrift in the entrance.  Officers towed south past river-mouth.

10:55am, received a complaint regarding “E-foilers” operating dangerously at Mondos near Faria.  Answered questions regarding reckless operation in restricted areas.  Also answered jurisdiction and/or responsible agency “?’s.”

Thursday 1/22   

9:00am, officers conducting Marine Safety Officer interviews at Port District.

6:03pm, officers conducting rescue boat handling training with close quarter maneuvering and slip entries aboard Rescue Boat 19.

Friday 1/23     

7:32am, while on patrol in the truck, observed a surfer walking and holding his head.  Officers assessed and treated the patient with a laceration to his head and possible neck injury.  Transported patient to his vehicle, he refused further aid.

10:00am, received request for traffic control from Manson Dredge.  Vessels Rescue Boat 19 and Fireboat 1 assisted with blocking channel for towing pipe.

1:30pm, received report of a subject stealing a kayak from Safe Harbor.  Advised caller to contact Ventura PD, and that Patrol would do a courtesy investigation.  After investigation, ascertained it was a misunderstanding.

Saturday 1/24

8:35am, received report of a petroleum sheen in the south basin of the harbor.  Officers responded, found a sheen and conducted an investigation.  No active spill or source was located and the incident is under investigation.

10:45am, received report of a stolen “Stanley” tool chest from Vtr boat yard.

4:14pm, received report of a petroleum sheen in the south basin of the harbor.  Officers investigated but unfortunately unable to locate the source.

Sunday 1/25  

11:45am, dispatched to stroke in the Portside complex.  Officers responded with VFD/AMR to assist with patient treatment and assessment.

12:11pm, dispatched to a lift assist in the Ventura Marina Community.  Officers responded and lifted the patient.  No injury or medical component with call.

5:15pm, observed an “Opti” sailboat with 2 persons aboard attempting to paddle back to the yacht club, becalmed.  Officers towed the sailboat back to the VYC.

6:05pm, received report of an overdue vessel from the father of overdue sailor.  Officers responded with pertinent information on possible location of vessel, were able to locate the vessel and escort back to its dock in the keys.

Monday 1/26 

1:50pm, received request for traffic control from Manson dredge operation.  Officers responded in Fireboat and Rescue B19 to assist controlling traffic.

Tuesday 1/27

1:10pm, dispatched to an Ocean Rescue, impaired swimmer at the Ventura Point.  Officers responded in Rescue Boat 19 to assist State Parks lifeguards with escorting the swimmer to the beach.
