12:05am, received report of a transient disturbing security at the VHV. Officers responded and found a barefoot male walking in circles near 1691 Spinnaker. Officers found a pair of abandoned shoes/socks and after a few attempts, were able to get the individual back on track with emergency blanket and shoes.

1:15pm, received a report of a vessel accident in VIM M-dock, collision with moored vessel. Officers responded in Fireboat to investigate and found the responsible party leaving the harbor. The skipper’s information was gathered and he was advised to contact the owner and the marina to ensure no damage occurred. The incident is under investigation.

11-26

9:02am, dispatched to an ocean rescue, kayakers in distress off Mussel Shoals. Officers responded in Fireboat 1 with multiple agencies to assist two kayakers to shore. No injuries were reported and officers retrieved kayak for victims.

11-28

7:43am, received an inquiry about a sea lion off Harbor Cove beach that the RP felt was sick-and-or-injured. Officers monitored, nothing out of the ordinary was observed. Educated RP about behavior of sealions.

12:12pm, while on patrol in the vehicle, contacted by a person walking their dog near the Santa Clara Rivermouth complaining about dogs off leash nearby. Issued warning for no dogs allowed in the area because of the bird sanctuary. State Parks/Harbor Patrol enforce no dogs allowed just South of Surfers Knoll.

11-30

9:03am, dispatched to an unconscious person in the Harbor Village. Officers responded with VFD/AMR to assist a 101 y/o male who fainted. He was treated and then transported to local hospital for further evaluation.

Tuesday
12-1

8:53am, received a request for a tow from a disabled 25ft sailboat. Advised if they could sail to harbor, patrol could provide a tow. The coast guard eventually towed the vessel to the harbor and accommodations were found for the vessel.

12-2

12:15pm, dispatched to technical rescue at oil platform 9 miles offshore. Officers responded in Rescue B-17 with multiple agencies to a patient who fell several stories into the water. The patient aspirated water and required resuscitation efforts. All attempts at revival were unfortunately unsuccessful.

Thursday
12-3

5:41pm, received a report of an injured cormorant near the Harbortown point. Officers responded, captured the bird for rescue volunteers.

Friday
12-4

2:41pm, dispatched to an ocean rescue off Greenock lane. Officers responded in Fireboat with multiple agencies assisting with swimmers caught in ripcurrent.

Sunday
12-6

11:08am, dispatched to a stroke patient in the Portside apartments. Officers responded with VFD/AMR and treated a 76 y/o female with altered mental state.

2:22pm, responding to a vessel aground near Mandalay powerplant by land and water. 5 POB were able to get to the beach and none sustained injures. Tow Boat US was able to get the hard aground vessel off the beach.

11:17am, dispatched to mobile home park, carport roof sustained major damage from wind. Officers responded and assisted VFD with dismantling the structure.

1:13pm, dispatched to mobile home park, portion of roof blown off.

9:30pm, while on patrol in Rescue B-17, observed 5 kayaks engaged in hoop netting in the South Jetty rip current. Issued safety warning for the hazard area.

11-11

10:35am, during patrol, observed several unattended hoop nets in the sandtrap. Officers found the owners and issued warning for the violation.

Thursday
11-12

8:45am, while on patrol in Rescue B-17, officers observed then pulled trash that had come from the barranca. Usually trash and other debris come down the barranca during the first rain of the season and any significant rain event. The amount of trash pulled from the water was enough to request a rollout dumpster.

8:25pm, while on patrol in Rescue B-17, observed several fishermen hoop netting in illegal areas, including the main channel. Warnings were issued along with safety inspections of vessels. Instructions for legal fishing areas were given

1:03pm, while on patrol in the truck, contacted by an individual who had a dead battery. Officers were able to successfully jumpstart the vehicle. .

6:15pm, received a report of a female transient setting up camp in the restrooms. Officers responded, assisted Dockmaster with removing belongings and transient

7:50pm, contacting an RV at the launch ramp, a habitual camper there and warning that there is no overnight camping at the launch ramp.

11-16

12:33pm, while preparing weather observations for NWS, observed 94-degree heat reading in the operations center. 10 mins later after the East wind switched, a 14-degree switch in temperature occurred.

11-17

10:50am, dispatched to check the wellness of an unconscious person near VIM. Officers responded with VPD/VFD and found the individual under the influence. Later in the day, the patient fell off his boat. He was rescued from the water and given to his girlfriend for supervision and welfare.

3:30pm, received report of a dead sea lion under a dock in VWM H-dock. Officers responded, found the sealion, removed it and towed it out to sea.

1:30pm, while on patrol in the Fireboat, officers were contacted by a Ventura Isle Marina tenant who was resuscitated by one of the officers on the boat. He conveyed his gratefulness for saving his life.

11-23

9:20am, while on patrol, observed a poly fishing line floating near the entrance. Officers attempted to pull the hazard to navigation, but it appeared attached to a commercial fishing trap. A commercial fisherman was located nearby, and he was able to assist and pull up the trap and return it to the owner.

3:30pm, Beach Hazard Assessment : observed 4-6ft steep angled Northwest swell with powerful longshore current moving downcoast.

6:45am, dispatched to a fire near Riverhaven. Officers assisted VFD with extinguishing the small warming fire. PD was questioning two persons nearby.

10-30

4:46pm, received a request to contact two dog owners with their dogs off leash near Surfers Knoll. Officers responded, found the pair as reported. Both were reminded of the leash law and requested to avoid one another to keep the peace.

Saturday
10-31

9:35am, observed a heavy fog bank move in. Officers headed out in the Fireboat to escort some out riggers and small boats back to the harbor that were observed before the bank came in. Two outriggers and a small boat were assisted.

12:15pm, received report of an agitated transient attempting to purchase ice cream at a village store. Officers responded and followed the individual to the fuel dock, he attempted to purchase items. He was escorted out of the Harbor.

11-01

1:37pm, receiving multiple reports of aggressive and dangerous driving by participants of the presidential rally in VIM lot. Advised of limited resources to contain the large crowd and that Ventura PD has been advised and is responding.

2:35pm, while on patrol in Rescue B-17, observed a novice Standup paddler collide into Portside dock and fall into the water. Officers pulled the person out of the water and transported to big beach in the keys. No injuries were sustained

11-04

7:45am, received a report of a female transient sleeping near the boatyard and NPS offices. Officers responded and contacted the female. She believed the area was public land and that she could camp there. She was informed of the laws of special districts and given information for assistance to find housing.

5:39pm, dispatched to a boat fire in VWM B-dock. Officers responded in the fireboat to a 38ft M/V with an exterior fire that was being extinguished by boaters with extinguishers and dock fire hose. Harbor Patrol and VFD ensured that the fire was out and were assessing damage and the cause.

11-07

8:29am, received report of a dead body floating under the bridge in the barranca. Officers responded and found a realistic human sized companion doll in the area.

11:30am, while on patrol in the truck, contacted by concerned citizen that a sea bird, a grebe was entangled in seaweed near the South Jetty. Officers found the bird as reported, captured for sea bird rescue volunteer for rehabilitation.

1:54pm, dispatched to ocean rescue at the Ventura Pier. Officers responded and due to conditions had a delayed response. The victim was rescued by State Parks

4:15pm, dispatched to ocean rescue at Ventura Pier. The kite surfer was rescued by State Parks downcoast side of the Pier. Response delayed due to weather.

11-08

11:06am, dispatched to a medical alarm in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded with AMR/VFD to the call. The 93 y/o patient was suffering from multiple aliments and was transported to local hospital for evaluation.

2:00pm, dispatched to a public service, canopy pinned onto roof in Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted VFD with securing it.

6:06pm, contacted 3 persons attempting to launch a small lake-type boat. They had just purchased it, wanted to try it out. Convinced them not in a gale at night.

Monday 10-12

8:45am, patrol officers briefing with Ventura City and County firefighters going through USLA lifeguard training at the Port District. Ventura Harbor Patrol Officers are trained as USLA rescue swimmers also & assisted with training.
Wed 10-14 7:15pm, while on patrol in Rescue B-17, officers contacted several vessels in violation of local ordinance and federal law. Two vessels voyage were terminated for multiple discrepancies and neither had running lights.

Friday 10-16

4:26pm, dispatched to an ocean rescue at Ventura Point. Officers responded in Rescue B-17 and found 3 surfers who paddled out to lobster trap buoys 300 yards offshore. No injuries or distress, just curious surfers looking at the buoys.

Saturday 10-17

7:21am, dispatched to an investigation for smoke in the RiverBottom. Officers responded and observed smoke South of Spinnaker Dr. A small warming fire was found and extinguished approximately 60 yards into the river bottom.

1:40pm, while on patrol in Rescue B-17, officers observed 4 victims caught in a rip current near San Pedro ln. A rescue swimmer was deployed assisting State Parks with the rescue. All victims were safely returned to the beach.

Monday 10-19

4:55pm, while on patrol in vehicle, observed a female in a golf cart near the launch ramp. She appeared upset. Offered to tow the golf cart to her unit.

Wednes 10-21

5:25pm, received a report of kayakers harassing sealions at VHV E-dock. Officers responded & found the perpetrators. Warnings were issued for violation

Thursday 10-22

10:36pm, received report of suspicious person pushing a shopping cart in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded with VPD, found the suspect who claimed he was selling Christmas lights. He was removed from community

Friday 10-23

5:45pm, received a report of an aggressive transient near the timeshare harassing people. Officers responded and found the individual. He was removed from the property and advised of the violations.

Saturday 10-24

8:00am, Harbor Patrol and Marine Safety Officers participating in Marine Firefighting class at the Port District. Officers practiced donning / duffing their turnouts, SCBA’s(breathing apparatus) and strategies putting out boat fires.

10:55am, received a report of dogs off leash near Santa Clara Rivermouth. Officers responded and located several dogs off leash. All violators were advised of the bird sanctuary and State Law prohibiting dogs in the area.

Sunday 10-25

3:30pm, while on patrol officers took beach hazard assessment: 1-2ft Northwest swell, NW wind 15 kts and choppy conditions. Very small crowd on harbor beaches. This is the first time in awhile conditions and crowds have declined.

7:15pm, while on patrol in Rescue B-17, officers contacted several vessels engaged in hoop netting near the breakwall. Warnings for multiple violations, mainly illegally placed nets issued to kayakers, small skiffs & larger vessels.

Monday 10-26

4:00am, officers contacted a transient with a surfboard near HC. The individual stated it had a “free” sign on it. The boards appearance gave credit to his story.

11:30am, observing strong NorthEast winds throughout the harbor.

4:30pm, dispatched to a vegetation fire near the Santa Clara Bridge. Officers responded with VFD to the call. Officers moved some looky-lou’s from area.

6:41pm, dispatched to unconscious person at local hotel. Officers responded with VFD/AMR to the call. The 48 year old was transported for low B/P.

Tuesday 9-29

2:10am, received a report of a break-in at Margarita Villa. Officers responded and investigated. Female transient wanted a drink but MV closed. PD arrested.

Thursday 10-1

1:35am, dispatched to a person bleeding at 4points Sheraton. Officers responded with AMR and VFD to assist the patient who was transported.

Friday 10-2

12:00pm, dispatched to a ocean rescue at the South Jetty, several persons caught in a rip current. Officers responded in Fireboat, deploying rescue swimmer to assist 3 persons clinging onto South Jetty and 2 in the head of the rip. All persons were rescued and assessed for injuries. Treatment and transport refused.

1:47pm, dispatched to an ocean rescue at the South Jetty. Officers responded and found 4 victims hauled out on the jetty. Rescue swimmer deployed to assist.

4:40pm, dispatched to an ocean rescue at South Beach. Officers responded in Rescue B-17 with multiple agencies. Several persons were pulled out of rip.

Saturday 10-3

12:54am, dispatched to seizure at 1691 Spinnaker Dr. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with the patient who was transported to hospital.

8:35pm, received a report of a vessel lost in the fog near the #2 buoy nav buoy. Officers responded, found the vessel and escorted it safely back to the harbor.

Sunday 10-4

1:10pm, officers coordinating plan to lifeguard South Beach and Surfers Knoll. About 1500 people are on the beach and conditions are getting very dangerous.

2pm-6pm, officers & State Parks lifeguarded Harbor Beaches with very limited personnel but were able to safely rescue about 50 people from rip currents and contacted/educated every other beach patron in those 4 hours.

8:00pm, officers enforcing safety and fishing regulations at the breakwall for fishermen engaged in hoop netting. 9 vessels were contacted and inspected.

Monday 10-5 4:07pm, dispatched to an ocean rescue off Camden lane. Officers responded in Fireboat and assisted State Parks and VFD with multiple victims in a rip.

4:16pm, dispatched to a stingray strike at Surfers Knoll. Officers responded.

Tuesday 10-6

10:07pm, received a mayday call from a vessel who fouled their prop with a hoop net line outside the North end of the breakwall. Officers responded and towed the small skiff with 3 POB safely to the launch ramp.

Wed 10-7

10:35pm, officers conducting boating safety education to small vessels engaged hoop netting around the breakwall. Many illegally placed hoopnets confiscated

Thursday 10-8

5:17pm, received a request for a tow from a Seiner skiff in South Basin. Officers on patrol in B-17 towed the vessel to their slip nearby.

5:45pm, received report of capsized Hobie cat near the Ventura Pier. Officers responded in Rescue B-17, righted the vessel and escorted back to harbor.

Friday 10-9

11:23pm, officers conducting boating safety to fishermen engaged in hoop net fishing around the entrance and breakwall to 15 vessels and 5 kayaks.

Saturday 10-10

3:10am, officers contacting kayaks and vessels hoop netting around the breakwall and entrance for illegal placement and boating safety violations.

6:26pm, dispatched to an ocean rescue South Beach. 2 victims pulled from rip.

4:11pm, received report of a kite surfer in distress near the Ventura Pier. Officers responded in the fireboat and found the kite surfer being towed back to shore by a good Samaritan surfer. Stood by until the kiter was safely on beach.

9-16

5:45pm, received report of a vehicle driving over the spikes into the exit of VWM II. Officers responded and found the car as reported. The driver was acting suspiciously, PD arrived and had her park and terminated her trip.

Friday
9-18

9:10am, received report of a transient sleeping in the 1583 Spinnaker elevator. Officers responded, woke the individual and moved them along.

Saturday
9-19

2:00pm, received a report from US coast guard fixed wing aircraft circling above the harbor of a personal watercraft operating erratically a mile outside. Officers observed the PWC head to L/R and made contact. The elderly operator was exhausted from the rough conditions and nothing suspicious was noted.

7:01pm, received multiple reports of a blue hulled vessel speeding and pushing a large wake throughout the harbor. Officers found vessel and terminated voyage.

2:22am, contacted a disabled/becalmed 35ft sailboat 2 miles offshore. Tow Boat Us was alerted and responded to assist the becalmed vessel.

9:01pm, received report of suspicious couple casing vehicles near the VYC. Officers impounded 3 stolen bicycles, the 2 said the bikes belonged to a friend.

10:15am, officers training with US coast guard helicopter hoisting in Rescue Boat 17. Patrol officers normally train with US coast guard hoisting operations.

9-25

6:50pm, received a Mayday call on VHF 16 from a disabled motorboat off Pierpont. Officers responded in Rescue Boat 17. Vessel safely towed to L/R.

10:25pm, dispatched to a fire near the riverbottom. Officers responded and found the natural gas burn off near Gonzales road. No fire found.

Saturday
9-26

9:22am, dispatched to an unconscious person at VIM L-dock. Officers responded and found the patient in full arrest. All lifesaving efforts were attempted with AMR/VFD and the patient was transported to local hospital.

1:15pm, contacted a vessel in the surfline near South Jetty engaged in fishing. Officers contacted and moved the fisherman to safer water outside surfline.

5:45pm, received a report of an unmanned 35ft sailboat in outside Ventura Harbor. Officers responded, found the sailboat, and found the captain below.

11:59am, dispatched to a fall victim at 1559 Spinnaker Dr. Officers responded and assisted a 97 year male who fell, sustained a laceration. Transported by AMR

12:18pm, dispatched to a seizure at 1867 Spinnaker Dr. Officers responded and assisted a 32 year male having a seizure. He was treated & transported by AMR.

1:25pm, received a Mayday call of a 14ft vessel just outside the surfline at the Ventura Point. Officers responded, towed the vessel to the launch ramp safely.

10:40pm, received a report of fishing at the Ventura Marina Community lake. Officers responded and terminated the fishing. Fishing is prohibited at the lake.

 

Vol. 13, No. 26 – Sept 23 – Oct 6, 2020 – Harbor Patrol Blotter

 

Wed 9-2

6:35am, harbormaster and officers who responded to the Conception boat fire responding in the Fireboat to pay respect to the victims and their family members of the tragedy at a memorial at Platts Harbor Santa Cruz island.

Friday 9-4

7:45pm, monitoring US coast guard/TowBoat US attempting to contact a vessel near Ormond Beach Powerplant who called a mayday. A few minutes later the skipper landlined Ventura Harbor Patrol requesting assistance. Officers attempted to advise the skipper he was out of Ventura’s response area. The skipper failed to realized CI harbor is six miles closer to him and hung up exasperated. Unfortunately, the vessel went aground shortly thereafter.

Saturday 9-5

7:35am, officers opened launch ramp overflow because the ramp is nearly full. A truck/trailer was attempting to access the lot and sustained trailer damage. The vehicle was blocking access and a few vehicles were directed to park on Anchors Way Drive near the Four Points Sheraton until the vehicle/trailer moves

10:55am, while on patrol observed multiple parking violations along Spinnaker Dr, Beach lots and Harbor Village. The most egregious violators were ticketed.

11:55am, received a complaint that protestors in the Harbor Village were attempting to gather signatures for a recall and were not following Covid 19 restrictions. Officers responded, found the violators, and advised of the rules.

Thursday 9-10

9:00am, dispatched to an overdose at the 4points Sheraton. Officers responded & assisted VFD/AMR with a 35-year-old recovering from bystander CPR.

2:01pm, received a report of a 24ft sailboat aground at Emma Wood. Officers responded, found the vessel as reported and all persons safely on the beach. Tow Boat US towed the vessel off the sand bar and to the boatyard.

Friday 9-11

12:14pm, dispatched to a sick person at VHM. Officers assisted AMR/VFD with an 89-year-old male with extreme knee pain. Patient transported.

5:45pm, received report of an RV illegally parked in VIM lot. Officers responded and found the RV as reported, it was brokedown and waiting for assistance from a mechanic. There is an ordinance for oversized vehicles.

Saturday 9-12

1:30pm, received a report of a fuel spill at VWM B-dock. Officers responded and after a brief search were able to locate the source from a vessels bilge pump & pin hole in a high-pressure fuel line. The pump and fuel line were secured.

Sunday 9-13

11:50am, contacted a 23ft motor vessel adrift in main channel. The vessel had engine trouble but was escorted to the launch ramp safely.

 

Vol. 13, No. 24 – Aug 26 – Sept 8, 2020 – Harbor Patrol Blotter

Tuesday 8-4

1:33pm, officers assisting with the installation of the new Pay and Display machine at the launch ramp. Boaters can now use credit or debit cards.

Wednes 8-5

4:02am, received a complaint about the dredge horn sounding. Officers assured the complainer that the dredge was not operating but that the #2 navigation buoy has a whistle that is operated by the rising and falling of swell.

Saturday 8-8

4:55pm, received a report of a small vessel operating recklessly in the A-basin. The R/P believes the operator is intoxicated. Officers responded to investigate and after a search were unable to locate the offenders in the harbor.

Sunday 8-9

9:35am, received report of a vessel explosion at the east end of Anacapa Island. Officers responded in Fireboat with Ventura Fire engine 2 crew. The four persons onboard were pulled from the water and the vessel towed back to port.

12:20pm, received a report of two State Parks lifeguards swimming a disabled Personal Water Craft out of the Surfline. Officers responded in Rescue B-19, took the disabled craft en tow back to Harbor Cove .

Monday 8-10

4:50pm, received a report of a 35ft sailboat on the rocks at the end of the A-basin in the Harbor. Officers responded in Rescue B-17, found the vessel as reported, towed off the rocks, sidetied and delivered to their slip in VIM I-23.

Friday 8-14

8:09pm, dispatched to a drowning at Surfers Knoll from FCC. Officers responded with VFD/AMR to the call. The patient was located on the beach and suffered a head laceration from a surfboard. Patient self-transported to hospital.

Saturday 8-15

9:15am, received a walk-in complaint from a Standup Paddler who was “waked” by a large vessel near the harbor entrance. The paddler demanded an apology for the incident from the captain of the large vessel. UTL the captain.

12:58pm, officers ran safety in Rescue B-17 for a paddle-out at “The Dredge” attended by hundreds of mourners for a local surfer who recently passed away.

Sunday 8-16

11:15am, while on patrol in the vehicle, officers observed horrendous traffic on Spinnaker drive in both directions. Parking was at or near capacity in all areas.

All-day: officers either witnessed or received reports of PWC operators in violation of speed and or safe operation laws inside and outside the harbor. Warnings for the violations issued to the mostly new operators and compliance..

3:03pm, received a request to dive for a lost purse near the docks of the PortSide. Officers responded but were unable to assist because of the large population of sealions on the docks in the area, the water was 30 feet deep in the area and the feeling the mammals would attack anyone entering the water there. Sealions are federally protected, and persons are prohibited within 30ft of them.

Monday 8-17

1:15pm, dispatched to a fall victim at the Ventura Harbor Yacht Yard. Officers responded with VFD/AMR to a 79-year-old male that fell off a 7ft ladder. The patient was placed in C-pine precautions and transported to local hospital.

2:14pm, while checking on the welfare of a sailboat, received a request for a tow from a disabled 20ft vessel. Officers towed the vessel to the launch ramp safely.

 

Vol. 13, No. 23 – Aug 12 – Aug 25, 2020 – Harbor Patrol Blotter

Monday 7-20

1:55pm, received a report of a stingray strike at Harbor Cove from State Parks. Officers responded with Hot water to treat the injury. Patient released on site.

Tuesday 7-21

11:35pm, monitoring a 7.8 earthquake off the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. After a brief investigation, Pacific tsunami center determined no threat to West Coast.

Thursday 7-23

1:45pm, officers untangling fishing line and tackle from the number 14 navigation buoy. The buoy was pulled off station by fishermen apparently attempting to retrieve lost tackle from the buoy near the entrance to the keys.

Friday 7-24

11:30am, observed two jet skis on the beach at the Santa Clara Rivermouth. Officers responded in FireBoat 1 to assist. State Parks lifeguards swam one of the broke-down skis to the boat while the other was able to get started and off the beach. Both were escorted and towed back to the launch ramp.

Saturday 7-25

2:45pm, received a report of an argument in the dry storage area. Officers responded found the two engaged in a heated argument over cleaning up their respective spaces. The two were separated and asked to avoid in the future.

7:50pm, received a report of a suicidal subject on a vessel in the Ventura Harbor Marina. Officers responded with VFD & VPD. No medical, PD assisted subject

Monday 7-27

11:33pm, received a request for mutual aid from Calif Fish and Wildlife. Assisting with night vision and investigation of illegal fishing.

Thursday 7-30

1:35pm, received a report of a stingray strike at Harbor Cove from State Parks lifeguards. Officers responded with Hot water to help treat the injury. The patient was treated and released at the scene to self-transport to hospital.

Friday 7-31

9:05am, dispatched to an unconscious person at Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with a 90-year-old male. The individual had low blood pressure, felt weak & was transported to local hospital.

6:30pm, received reports of three large RV’s parked in the Dolphin lot at VIM. Officers responded and found the RV’s and contacted the RO’s to inquire about their intentions. After a long debate, the group relocated to the street.

Saturday 8-01

2:55am, while on patrol in the vehicle, officers observed a male transient with a large laceration on his arm. The individual was bandaged and given a blanket.

12:41pm, received complaint about a large group disturbing the peace at VIM J-dock. Officers responded, found the group, issued warnings for the violations.

4:25pm, dispatched to a medical, allergic reaction at Surfers Knoll from State Parks lifeguards. Officers responded and assisted a 7-year-old with an asthma attack. The parents signed an AMA releasing the child at the scene.

Sunday 8-02

12:23am, dispatched to a medical VWM G-dock of a 100-year-old female complaining of nausea and disorientation. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with the call. The patient was transported to hospital by AMR.

2:55am, monitored a mayday call, two men overboard. Officers responded to ensure the call was outside Hueneme Harbor, not Ventura. It was 1-mile S of CI.

10:50pm, received a report of an overdue vessel, a 13ft Boston Whaler. Officers began a search, but the vessel and vehicle were not discovered, the vessel was possibly at Channel Islands harbor, contact numbers provided.

Monday 8-03

5:45am, dispatched to a 78-year-old female complaining of difficulty breathing. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with the call. Patient transported.

Tuesday 7-7

4:15pm, dispatched to a medical, stingray strike at Harbor Cove. Officers responded with hot water to treat injury. The patient was released at the scene.

Thursday 7-9

2:15pm, dispatched to a water rescue, 4 body boarders in a rip current near the South Jetty. Officers responded in Rescue B-19 and pulled the 4 onboard and delivered them safely to Surfers Knoll back with their families.

Friday 7-10

6:45pm, received dispatch to a capsized vessel near Surfer Knoll from State Parks. Officers responded and assisted the righted vessel back to the harbor.

Saturday 7-11

11:07am, received a report of an unconscious person in the launch ramp restrooms. Officers responded and requested VFD/AMR to also respond. Unfortunately, the patient was discovered deceased. After medics had confirmed death, VPD and the medical examiner took over investigation.

2:40pm, while on patrol, officers observed a transient attempt to steal a bike from a 50-year-old male. The would-be thief was unable to take the bike and attempted to flee the scene but was eventually detained by VPD close by.

Sunday 7-12

7:31am, received complaint about bikes riding on the promenade near VIM. Officers advised of enforcement when observed by patrol or Courtesy patrol.

12:42pm, received a report of a boating accident in the keys. The vessel was secured in lift slip and sustained damage to the bow. Investigation is continuing.

Tuesday 7-14

11:55am, received multiple reports of a red colored hull power boat in violation of speed and wake laws in the mid and South Basin areas of the harbor. The incident and similar reports are under investigation with multiple agencies.

Thursday 7-16

Friday 7-17

12:10pm, observed several violations by fishermen on the Port District longdock. Officers made contacts and removed several fishermen for egregious violations such as urinating and cleaning fish on the dock. Fishing is allowed only in designated areas, such as the beach and from vessels, not docks or rocks.

1:10pm, dispatched to a stingray strike at Harbor Cove from State Parks. Officers responded with hot water to assist in treating the injury.

Saturday 7-18

3:20pm, observed four kids jumping off the Ventura Harbor Yacht Yard pier into the water. The father was contacted and issued a warning for violation.

Sunday 7-19

10:01am, observed a fisherman urinating on the Port District longdock. Officers contacted and removed the individual for the violation. Several fishermen were warned of the ordinance & closure coming of the dock & the rip rap for fishing.

10:41am, received report of juveniles jumping off the fish offloading dock. Officers responded and found the group actively jumping. Warnings issued for swimming in the harbor and the poor quality of the water around the pier.

11:23am, contacted a transient who has erected a shelter on the beach with drift wood and trash. Officers are trying to assist the individual with social services.

5:10pm, officers observed then removed four subjects fishing, drinking and smoking marijuana on the Port District longdock.

9:10pm, dispatched to an overdue PWC with possibly two persons onboard. Officers conducted a search and investigated all leads, but were unable to locate any credible evidence of missing persons or personal water craft.
