Incident: Attempted Kidnapping

Narrative:On the above date and time, patrol officers were dispatched to the area of Telegraph Rd. and Nevada Ave. for an attempted kidnapping incident. The female victim told officers that she was jogging in the area. When she stopped at the intersection, she was “bear-hugged” from behind by an unknown man. The victim had her headphones in both ears and did not hear the man approach from behind her.
The victim was able to struggle and break free, running from the suspect. A witness was driving her vehicle when she saw the suspect approach from behind and grab the victim. After she broke free, the witness pulled her car over, and the victim got inside. The witness was able to take photographs of the suspect as he ran away. The victim was not injured during the attack.
The suspect’s photograph was circulated on a social media website, and a local resident recognized him. Detectives located additional cameras in the area and confirmed the suspect’s identity as Vincent Dominguez. Detectives arrested Dominguez near his residence.
Dominguez was booked at the Ventura County Jail for Attempted Kidnapping.
Incident: Commercial Burglary and Vandalism Arrest
Location: Golf N’ Stuff, 5555 Walker Street

Suspect(s): Steven Meade (42 years old) – Thousand Oaks Vagrant

Narrative:
On March 30, 2025, at approximately 0906 hours, the Ventura Police Department received a call from Golf N’ Stuff regarding a commercial burglary that occurred the night before. The investigation revealed that on March 29, 2025, at approximately 2327 hours, the suspect kicked in a locked door to an enclosed walk-in storage room. The suspect then entered the storage room and stole several items from the business. The investigating officer observed surveillance video of the suspect inside the business stealing items; however, was unable to identify the suspect initially.
On April 5, 2025, at approximately 0703 hours, the investigating officer was patrolling in the area of Victoria Avenue and Ralston Street when he saw Steven Meade. The officer immediately recognized Meade as the suspect from the burglary investigation from the week before. The officer contacted Meade and during his contact, located additional evidence that linked Meade to the commercial burglary.
Meade was arrested, transported, and booked at the Ventura County Jail for the charges of 459 PC, Commercial Burglary, and 594(b)(2)(a) PC, Vandalism with Under $400 in Damages.
It was later discovered that Meade had been released from the Ventura County Jail for separate charges approximately two hours prior to committing the burglary on March 29th.
Incident: Carjacking
Location: Grant Park, 699 Brakey Road, Ventura.

Victim: 30-year-old male

Narrative:
The Ventura Police Department is actively investigating a carjacking that occurred at Grant Park. The victim reported that while sitting in his vehicle shortly before the park closed, he was approached by two males. One of the suspects was reportedly armed with a handgun and demanded that the victim exit the vehicle and surrender it. The victim complied, and both suspects fled the area in his car.
There was a delay in the victim’s call to the Police Department, as he had to walk down from the park to place the call. Once notified, officers responded immediately and canvassed the area, quickly locating the stolen vehicle, which was parked and unoccupied in the 100 block of East Center Street in Ventura. Officers conducted an area search for the suspects on foot but were unable to locate them.
