4/26

3:50am, observed National Weather Service issued small craft advisory, officers illuminated SCA lights and raised pennant at Port District flag pole.

10:00am, officers towed a disabled 50ft motor vessel from the emergency Port District longdock to a temporary slip in Ventura Harbor Village.

7:12pm, dispatched to a sick person at VWM II E-dock. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with extricating the patient from the sailboat.

4/27

12:51pm, received a report from USCG a found red Achilles dinghy that washed ashore near Muscle Shoals. Officers searched lost/found files, no match found.

10:17pm, dispatched to unconscious person at VWM B-dock. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with extrication of a 29 y/o female patient from sailboat. Patient was transported to local hospital by AMR for evaluation.

4/28

7:03pm, received a report of the unseaworthy 50ft motor vessel outbound. Officers stopped the vessel and escorted it back to its slip in VHV.

Thursday
4/29

7:15am, dispatched to a stroke patient at Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with the patient who was treated then transported by AMR to local hospital for further evaluation for stroke symptoms.

10:23am, received report of injured surfer near Surfers Knoll. Officers found the patient & treated a laceration to his hand from surfboard fins. Released at scene.

7:19pm, dispatched to a fall victim in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted a 73 y/o female who fell and was on the floor for an hour

4/30

10:53am, received report of a transient couple trespassing on a vessel at VIM I-dock. The key fob was cancelled and the couple was unable to access the dock.

5/1

12:10pm, received report of stingray strike at Harbor Cove from State Parks. Officers responded with hot water for treatment of the puncture wound.

3:30pm, received Mayday call on VHF 16 from a small motor vessel outside the breakwall. Officers responded in Fireboat and assisted towing the vessel to L/R.

5:03pm, received a report of fishermen cleaning fish at the end of VIM K-dock. H/P responded, issued educational warning for the violation, gained compliance.

5:00am, observed Gale warning issued, officers raised two warning pennants.

3:26pm, received request for moorage for a 92ft motor vessel, assisted skipper.

3:35pm, dispatched to a stroke patient in Harbor Cove lot. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with the patient who was transported to local hospital.

11:23pm, dispatched to fall victim at VWM G-dock. Patient fell in the water near his boat. Officers retrieved him from the water & returned him to his boat.

2:50pm, dispatched to a traumatic injury at 1050 Schooner, Officers responded.

9:20pm, received report of a female locked in the restrooms at 1575 Spinnaker. Officers responded and were able to remove the transient from restrooms.

Wednes
5/5

4:00pm, received a report of an injured sea bird near Surfers Knoll. Officers responded, captured the bird for rescue volunteers to pick up for rehabilitation.

Sunday
5/9

10:15am, dispatched to a boat fire at VWM A-dock. Officers responded in Fireboat and Rescue B-17 to the call with multiple agencies. Turnouts were donned and officers were able to assist with hose & water from the fireboat. The fire was contained to the engine room, and responders were able to extinguish it.

 

Vol. 14, No. 16 – May 5 – May 18, 2021 – Harbor Patrol Blotter

Wednes 4/14 3:50pm, dispatched to an ocean rescue at Hobson Beach. Officers responded in Rescue B17 with multiple agencies. The victim was assisted to safely to shore.
Thursday 4/15 5:35pm, dispatched to a vessel aground at Oxnard Shores. Officers assisted Tow Boat US/OxFire with the 35ft motor vessel that was hard aground. The vessel was at first thought to be part of a movie shoot in the area.
Friday 4/16 5:03pm, while on patrol in Rescue B17, officers assisted the skipper of a small sailboat, a laser near the #4 buoy right itself. No injuries or damage sustained.

5:39pm, dispatched to a sick person near Island Packers building. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with the patient.

Saturday 4/17 4:03pm, while on patrol, officers assisted a stranded motorist with a jump start for a dead battery in their vehicle near Andria’s seafood.

4:15pm, while on patrol in Rescue B17, officers educated several persons paddling SUP’s in violation of no personal floatation device through out the harbor. Officers also educated two vessels for speed/wake violations in harbor.

Sunday 4/18 10:20am, received several reports of an injured pelican at South Beach in the surfline. Officers responded, captured the bird for rescue volunteers.

11:15am, received report of an individual working on a commercial vessel in its slip near the fuel dock. Officers responded and issued written warning for debris in the water. Workers complied and removed what they could from the water.

Monday 4/19 1:33pm, received report of a lost/stolen dog at Surfers Knoll. Officers responded and assisted Ventura PD search, unfortunately they were unable to locate it.
Tuesday 4/20 3:18pm, received a report of an injured pelican near VWM D-dock. Officers responded, the RP called back and watched the bird fly away.

Thursday 4/22

10:36am, dispatched to a fall victim in Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with treatment and preparing for transport.

Friday 4/23

9:45am, observed a large motor vessel struggling to maneuver in the Pierpont Basin. Officers were able to assist the disabled vessel and secure it to longdock.

9:23pm, officers broke up a gathering of 125 people at Surfers Knoll. Attendants to the social gathering dispersed peacefully and were young adults.

9:56pm, issued warning to skipper of disabled vessel at longdock for securing w/o permission, having a vessel in un-seaworthy condition, & no plan for a slip.

Saturday 4/24

10:10am, dispatched to a 18 y/o with a fractured femur on a PWC at the launch ramp. Officers responded by land and sea to assist VFD/AMR with the patient. After placing a traction splint, patient was transported to local hospital.

6:35pm, officers contacted & issued V/W to a food truck in Harbor Cove lot for conducting business without a permit. The truck closed shop and moved on.

11:01pm, received a request to park vehicle overnight to be a responsible driver in the Ventura Village parking lot. Officers complied, advised Courtsey Patrol.

Sunday 4/25

1:20pm, observed dangerous swimming conditions and officers contacted several inexperienced bathers about rip currents and a strong longshore current from a large South Swell. Rip currents increase with larger waves and currents.

1:37pm, dispatched to stroke victim in Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted a 69 y/o female who recently suffered a major head injury and was extremely confused. Patient transported to local hospital.

5:27pm, dispatched to 1 y/o with a head injury near 1583 Spinnaker. Officers responded with AMR/VFD to assist the young patient.

Wednes 4/07

12:24pm, received a report of a transient locked in a restroom screaming in Harbor Village. Officers responded and removed the individual peacefully.

Thursday 4/08

6:15am, observed Small Craft Advisory issued by NWS. SCA Pennant raised.

4:15pm, dispatched to child endangerment in a vehicle at Harbor Cove. Officers responded, found a child crying in a baby seat and an adult unconscious in the front seat. Eventually the adult was awakened, and the child attended to and calmed. VPD arrived on scene and the incident is under investigation.

8:46pm, dispatched to a person trapped in an elevator. Officers responded and assisted VFD with removing the victim from the elevator. No injuries occurred.

Friday 4/09

1:45pm, received report of persons harassing sealions near NPS docks. Officers responded in Rescue B17, found the subjects in a peddle boat and educated on federal laws protecting marina mammals and consequences of violating laws.

5:07pm, received report of injured seabird at the launch ramp. Officers responded, captured bird for rescue volunteers to treat and rehabilitate.

Saturday 4/10

4:12am, dispatched to a seizure at local hotel. Officers responded and assisted VFD to assess patient. Patient was intoxicated, refused help and signed release.

6:27am, dispatched to a seizure at local hotel, same patient as earlier. Officers responded with VFD/AMR and convinced the patient to go to hospital.

5:49pm, received report of a missing 14 y/o surfer on a rainbow-colored wave storm surfboard. Officers responded with State Parks and located the individual.

Sunday 4/11

11:30am, received a complaint of a loud noise that sounds like an animal dying near Marina Park restrooms. Officers responded and were able to ascertain the noise is a bird deterrent at the Marina Park restrooms.

12:45pm, received report of a vessel on the rocks near Dave’s Fuel dock. Officers responded with TowBoat US, assisted removing the vessel off the rocks

8:07pm, received report of an overdue Hobie Cat. Officers investigated and were able to observe the vessel near the Ventura Pier, becalmed. Responded in Fireboat 1, located the 19ft sailboat w/o lights with the aid of radar. Comms were established, the experienced sailor refused assistance, and later notified patrol via VHF 16 when he safely returned to the harbor.

Monday 4/12

8:10pm, dispatched to an ill subject near 1591 Spinnaker. Officers responded with VFD and found an intoxicated person. Arranged ride home for subject.

Tuesday 1:13pm, officers towed a disabled 35ft Chriscraft to the L/R for repairs. The vessel lost an engine and safe harbor was offered due to Small Craft Advisory

Wednes 3/17

2:45pm, received a report of a bird in distress in Marina Park restrooms. After investigation, determined it was an automated device used to deter nesting.

Thursday 3/18

12:00am, Lobster season officially ends for 20/21. It will reopen Saturday, October 3, 2021 at 6am and continue until March 17, 2022.

Friday 3/19

3:43pm, dispatched to an ocean rescue, kite surfer in distress. Officers responded in Rescue Boat 17 in very rough conditions. The victim was able to self-rescue safely to the beach prior to Harbor Patrols’ arrival.

Saturday 3/20

4:40pm, received a report of an injured bird at Surfers Knoll. Officers responded, captured the bird for rescue volunteers.

9:23pm, received report of a large fishing vessel lost and unsure of position in the harbor. Officers were able to locate the vessel in the keys and assist in navigating to the commercial docks in the Harbor Village.

Sunday 3/21

2:00pm, dispatched to an Ocean Rescue at Greenock lane jetty, Marina Park. Officers responded in Fireboat with VFD/AMR and State Parks to the rescue. The patient was caught in a rip current and was able to pull himself out on the rip rap to safety but unable to navigate the rip rap. The patient was placed in a stokes basket and transported to AMR ambulance then hospital.

Monday 3/22

7:11am, dispatched to a fire alarm sounding in the Portside development. Officers responded and contacted an electrician working, false alarm, no fire.

3:18pm, received a report of an injured elephant seal at Harbor Cove. Officers responded, found the animal, barricaded and contacted rescue volunteers.

Wednes 3/24

1:55pm, while working on Rescue B-19 at the patrol dock, officers overheard a couple arguing loudly on the promenade near the Port District. Officers contacted the pair and asked them to take their “discussion” to another area.

Saturday 3/27

1:45pm, while in the operations center, observed a large motor vessel pushing a large wake in the Pierpont Basin. The wake nearly knocked a few Standup Paddlers off their boards. Officers were able to establish contact with the skipper and educate on the speed violation, waking the paddlers and that the skipper is responsible for any damage caused by his wake.

3:23pm, received a report of a large sailboat aground in the keys. Officers responded in the fireboat, found the vessel as reported. The skipper advised that he has grounded in the same area before and was waiting for the tide to fill in so he could return to his slip nearby.

Sunday 3/28

11:20am, observed several oversized vehicles (RV’s) in Harbor Cove parking lot and moved them to Spinnaker Dr. Oversized vehicles not allowed in beach lots.

1:46pm, contacted by an individual who observed an assault near the Harbor Cove restrooms. Officers responded and rendered first aid to the victim. AMR and VPD also responded and the patient was transported to local hospital.

3:25pm, received report of a sailboat soft aground near the barranca at the entrance to the keys. Officers responded in Fireboat, pulled the vessel off the bar

Monday 3/29

1:10pm, while on patrol observed a sailboat that has been secured to the launch ramp since this morning. Officers talked to skipper, he was repairing his boat.

Tuesday 3/30

7:50pm, received report of overdue sailboat with 4 POB from U.S. coast guard, approximately 2 miles south of the Harbor. Officers responded in Rescue B-17, found the vessel just outside the surfline. Towed the vessel back to the harbor.

Vol. 14, No. 13 – Mar 24 – April 6, 2021 – Harbor Patrol Blotter

Tuesday 3/02

2:01pm, received a report of a vessel accident at VIM H-dock. Officers responded in Fireboat 1 and found a 32ft sailboat up on the finger of a dock. No injuries were sustained, and officers were able to tow the vessel off the dock.

4:15pm, dispatched to an ocean rescue, kite surfer in distress at the Ventura Pier. Officers responded in Fireboat 1, but were canceled en route, self-rescue done.

Wednes 3/03

8:30pm, Harbormaster advising that the Port District commissioners voted to declare Barranca Shoaling an emergency so that Manson can dredge the area.

Thursday 3/04

8:37am, Manson dredge is inbound, completed with federally funded maintenance dredging of the entrance, main channel and sandtrap areas. They are awaiting a ruling for emergency dredging of the stub/barranca channel.

12:15pm, receiving requests for information about possible tsunami from an 8.0 earthquake off New Zealand. No threat or tsunami warnings were issued for it.

Friday 3/05

4:33pm, received request to tow commercial fishing vessel back to their slip because they lost their steering. Officers responded in Fireboat 1 to assist.

Saturday 3/06

8:00am, officers assisting State Parks with lifeguard tryout near San Pedro Ln in Pierpont. Officers responded in Fireboat 1 to assist with swim test.

8am-5pm, Oxnard College Lifeguard Academy utilizing the Port District facilities for lifeguard candidates to learn deckhand skills and special rescues.

3:46pm, received report of a personal watercraft operating more than 5mph in the inner harbor. Officers responding in Rescue B-17, found the perpetrators and conducted safety inspection and issued educational warnings for violation.

Sunday 3/07

8am-5pm, Oxnard College Lifeguard Academy using Port District for training.

11:30pm, while on patrol, officers observed an individual sleeping in their vehicle near 1902 Spinnaker Dr. The individual was advised of the no camping ordinance and moved along after given options of areas where they could park.

Monday 3/08

3:35pm, dispatched to unknown problem at 1414 Angler Court. Officers responded and assisted VFD/VPD with a male who fell off his sailboat while working on it in the storage yard. Patient was treated and transported.
Tuesday 3/09 11:55am, rain beginning to fall, while observing the weather, officers observed the steel dredge pipe adrift in the Pierpont Basin where it was previously anchored. Contacted Manson construction and some crew from the H.R. Morris were able to launch a small vessel and secure the pipe to an anchor.

Thursday 3/11

12:22pm, maintenance dredging of Ventura Harbor completed. Manson dredge H.R. Morris being towed to Long Beach. Officers conducting traffic control in Rescue Boat 17. The rest of the pipes and other equipment will follow.

Saturday 3/13

7:00am, Oxnard College Lifeguard Academy utilizing Port District for training.

10:05am, received report of a sick/injured sealion near the Portside Marina. Officers investigated but were unable to locate the mammal reported. Gave RP CIMWI (Channel Islands Marine Wildlife Institute) contact info for the future.

2:45pm, received report and observed a large group (200+) of juveniles on BMX-type bikes inundating Marina Park. Observed the group leaving, headed out in vehicle to monitor movement. The group headed North on Pierpont Blvd.

Sunday 3/14

2:22pm, dispatched to an Ocean Rescue at the Ventura Pier, person hanging from the pier. Officers responded in the Fireboat and were cancelled en route, First Responders on scene were able to pull the victim back onto the pier.

Monday 3/15

10:38am, US coast guard helicopter cancelling training operations due to winds gusting to 35kts and Rescue B-17 unable to stay on station.

3:11pm, observed Gale warning issued by NWS, raised pennants at Port Dist.

Tuesday 3/16

3:01am, dispatched to a cardiac arrest in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded with AMR/VFD, unfortunately unable to resuscitate victim.

 

 

Vol. 14, No. 12 – Mar 10 – Mar 23, 2021 – Harbor Patrol Blotter

Wed 2/17

3:03pm, received a Mayday call from a commercial fishing vessel near the entrance to the harbor. Officers responded in Rescue B-19, found the vessel disabled and towed the boat to their slip in Ventura HV safely.

Thursday 2/18

11:45pm, received report of injured pelican at VWM G-dock. Officers responded with bird rescue volunteer and found the bird with a fishing hook in its beak. The responders were able to remove the hook from the bird.

Friday 2/19

12:13pm, dispatched to a medical aboard a 100ft crew boat inbound. Officers responded and escorted the vessel to the village fuel dock where AMR medics took the patient and transported to local hospital for further evaluation.

Saturday 2/20

9:50am, received request for traffic control of the main channel of the harbor from H.R. Morris dredge so they can drop the submarine pipe across the harbor entrance to dredge the sandtrap. Officers responded in the Fireboat and RB19.

12:15pm, received Mayday call of a sailboat in distress near Surfers Knoll in the surfline. The skipper was alerted to drop anchor and don lifejacket. Officers responded by land (Harb1) and sea (RB-19) to assist the distressed 16ft sailboat. Incredibly, the vessels anchor held in the surfline with large waves and officers were able to pass a line and towed the vessel back to the harbor, safely.

Sunday 2/21

12:55pm, received report of a personal watercraft operating in excess of 5mph from the launch ramp to the South Basin of the harbor. Officers responded, contacted the individual and issued warnings for no PFD and speeding.

Monday 2/22

6:45pm, received a request for navigation assistance from an inbound sailboat confused with the dredging equipment in the main channel. Officers were able to assist the vessel to safely navigate through the main channel.

Tuesday 2/23

6:29am, officers raising the flags to half mast to honor 500k Covid-19 victims

Wed 2/24

9:40am, received report of an individual harassing wildlife from rescue volunteer. Officers responded and issued a written warning to the offender.

Saturday 2/27

6:40am, officers observed NWS issued a Small Craft Advisory for NE winds.

11:02am, received report of suspicious transient walking through the Harbor Townpoint timeshare. Officers responded, found the perpetrator, and removed.

2:10pm, observed and contacted two individuals attempting to launch SUP’s from the district longdock. After a long debate, the pair were convinced to leave

Sunday 2/28

6:00am, observed NWS issued SCA for NE winds, raised SCA pennant.

3:47pm, while on patrol in the vehicle, officers observed a transient who dropped all of their belongings in the intersection of Navigator and Anchors way. They assisted the individual gather his belongings and put back on trailer.

 

 

 

Vol. 14, No. 11 – Feb 24 – Mar 9, 2021 – Harbor Patrol Blotter

Tuesday 2/2

4:57am, receiving reports of a possible boat fire near Anacapa Island. Officers monitored radio coms between US coast guard and fishing vessels in the area. No boat fire was found, oil rigs burnoff or just the light boats in the area could have given reporting parties the illusion of a boat fire in the area.

Wednes 2/3

6:57am, received a report of an injured or sick seabird near Surfers Knoll. Officers found the injured Grebe, retrieved it for rescue volunteers to treat

Friday 2/5

10:51am, received dredging information from Manson construction. Pipe will begin arriving today. The dredge should arrive around 2/10 and begin shortly thereafter. The dredge cycle should last until March 15th.

Saturday 2/6

9:33am, received multiple reports of an injured pelican. Officers responded, found the injured bird and retrieved it for rescue volunteers to treat.

11:21pm, while on patrol in the vehicle, officers observed a vehicle with emergency lights flashing. The owner was intoxicated and had lost his key to turn off the lights. The individual is a crew member on one of the commercial vessels. He was helped to his vessel and the car lights flashed through the night.

Sunday 2/7

8:35am, receiving multiple reports of a transient possibly endangering himself near the launch ramp. Officers responded, found the individual and checked his welfare. The transient was alerted of concerns, complied and left the area.

Wed 2/10

10:35am, officers en route in the Fireboat to conduct traffic control for the Manson Dredge, H.R. Morris entering the harbor. Maintenance dredging of Ventura Harbor should last a month clearing the main channel, sandtrap and replenishing South Beach / Surfers Knoll areas of mass erosion.

Friday 2/12

12:34pm, dispatched to persons stuck in an elevator in the Ventura Harbor Village. Officers responded with VFD and found two children trapped. Responders were able to undo release tab on the door and release the kids.

Saturday 2/13

1:33am, dispatched to stage for a possible gun shot victim near Surfers Knoll. Officers responded with VPD, VFD and staged. Gun shots were heard but no injured persons were found after an extensive search of the area.
Sunday 2/14 10:25am, received report of a vessel taking on water at VWM A-dock. Officers responded with Tow Boat US on scene, dewatering and locating the source. Later in the day it was reported the leak was mitigated and pumps left onboard.

Monday 2/15

7:24am, observed an inbound vessel operating dangerously close to the dredge and North Jetty. Officers established contact on VHF 16 and were able to assist the large yacht navigate safely through the area. Any vessel navigating near the dredge H.R. Morris, should contact on VHF 16, then 67 for passing instructions.

Tuesday 2/16

11:15am, while on patrol in Rescue B-17, officers conducted a wellness check on a vessel that was taking on water in VWM a few days ago. No issues were noted with the vessel and it is scheduled to be hauled out tomorrow for repairs.

1:13pm, while on patrol in Fireboat 1, officers observed a seabird caught in a fishing line. Officers attempted to capture the bird to untangle the line, but the bird was able to free itself and fly away.

 

 

Vol. 14, No. 10 – Feb 10 – Feb 23, 2021 – Harbor Patrol Blotter

Tuesday 1/19

8:05am, receiving multiple reports of damage from the East wind event: trees down, cleats failing & trailered vessels in the dry storage blown around the yard.

9:30am, received report of a large powerboat that lost moorings and is colliding with the Fish&Wildlife vessel secured nearby. Officers responded by land and sea to resecure the cabin cruiser. The response was successful, damage minimal.

2:51pm, received a “Mayday” call on VHF 16, report of a 50ft catamaran breaking from its endtie moorings. Officers responded by vessels and vehicle to VIM I-dock to assist employees re-securing the SV.

Wed 1/20

10:30pm, while on patrol contacted by village security and assisted with removing 5 transients drinking, playing music & charging cellphones at VHV.

Thursday 1/21

6:33pm, while on patrol in the Fireboat, officers observed several fishing violations near the Harbor Entrance. Fishermen were warned of the violations and moved their hoop nets to legal fishing areas outside the breakwall/sandtrap.

Friday 1/22

4:54pm, received report of a semi-truck that drove against traffic from beachmont to Anchorsway dr. Officers responded and were able to contact the driver and warn about wrong way traffic. The driver advised he would update his companies GPS so that the mistake does not occur in the future

Saturday 1/23

10:03pm, received report of transients in the restrooms of the VHV boatyard. Officers responded and found homeless as reported. 3 persons were removed from the private restrooms and warned about trespassing.

Sunday 1/24

12:07pm, received report of a pollical protester screaming racial slurs and throwing a political figures’ picture at an individual parked too close to the disturbing party.

Friday 1/29

7:03am, while on patrol in the vehicle, officers observed the Santa Clara River berm is nearing breaching. Further observation showed the water is starting to flow towards McGrath along with heavy erosion from recent swell events.

Saturday 1/30

7:12pm, received a report of an injured sealion near VIM L-dock. Officers responded and observed the mammal, no injuries or sickness apparent. But, officers were contacted by a bicyclist who had an injured seabird. Rescue volunteers were contacted and picked up the injured bird for treatment.

Sunday 1/31

12:47pm, received a report of an injured seabird, a cormorant, at the launch ramp. Officers responded and found the bird was captured by a bystander. Possession of the bird was taken into a cage, awaiting rescue volunteer.

12:55pm, while on patrol in Rescue B17, officers observed a vessel engaged in hoopnetting in an extremely shallow area in the sandtrap. The vessel was moved to safer water, outside of the breakwall. Shoaling occurred because of the month-long Northwest swell event that deposited 200 cubic yards of sand there.

Monday 2/1

11:51am, observed a 25ft motor vessel inbound and listing heavily to port. Officers responded and escorted the vessel to the launch ramp and dewatered the vessel so they could haul it out on a trailer. The vessel was recently repaired.

3:45pm, received a walk-in report of a lost person, 89 y/o female who wandered off. Officers located the missing person at nearby business unharmed.

7:07pm, observed a sailboat secure to the VPD longdock. The weary sailor was in search of berthing due to a long voyage from Santa Barbara harbor.

7:33am, received dispatch to an ocean rescue at C-Street. Officers responded and assisted VFD & State Parks. The patient sustained a fractured leg surfing.

Saturday
1-9

1:13pm, while on patrol in the Fireboat, received report of a disabled sailboat in the A-basin. Officers found the vessel and safely towed it back to its slip, VIM.

1-10

12:08pm, dispatched to an Ocean Rescue at the Ventura Pier for a missing surfer. Officers responded in Rescue B-19 to assist searching for a diabetic patient who went surfing and was last seen four hours ago. After searching with multiple agencies, the patient was found safe, tired from surfing for four hours.

4:08pm, dispatched to an Ocean Rescue, individual threatening to jump off the end of the pier, refusing to leave. Officers responded in Rescue B-19 & RWC to assist VPD & State Parks with suicidal individual. Convinced him to not jump.

Monday
1-11

8:15am, observed and received reports of several Hazards to Navigation throughout the harbor probably from the heavy surge due to the large West swell event yesterday and last night. Docks were damaged in the keys also. Hazards found included trees, logs, dock floats and construction debris.

3:30pm, dispatched to an Ocean Rescue, kite surfer in distress upcoast of the Ventura Pier. Officers responded in Rescue B-19. The victim was found uninjured and was escort back to the beach.

1-13

7:15am, observed a large, deceased sea lion near the Surfers Knoll Groin. Due to the position, high tide and the weight of the animal, officers were unable to remove it. Local volunteer organization, CIMWI was contacted and advised.

Thursday
1-14

9:45am, received report of a vessel accident between to fishing seiners in the commercial docks. Officers responded in fireboat to investigate the report. After interviewing witnesses, minor damage was sustained, no injuries reported.

Friday
1-15

12:23am, received report of noise disturbance in the keys from kids on an electric boat. Officers responded and terminated the voyage due to no lifejackets

11:20am, while on patrol in Fireboat, contacted a 20ft MV in the sandtrap and advised of the shoaling and the danger of navigation in the area.

11:37pm, dispatched to a medical alarm in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and found the patient who accidentally activated alarm.

Saturday
1-16

1:20pm, received dispatch to ocean rescue, swimmer caught in a rip at the Greenock lane jetty. Officers responded and assisted State Parks with call.

10:23pm, received report of a vessel in distress outside the Harbor Entrance. After a search and assistance with the RP, it was determined that what the RP was observing was the #2 entrance navigation buoy and red light flashing.

Sunday
1-17

3:55am, received a request for entrance conditions from Tow BoatUS, they are inbound towing a 30ft sailboat with a fouled prop. Officers passed conditions.

11:54am, observed a small vessel towing a disabled one. Officers on patrol in Rescue B-19 took the disabled vessel en tow at the Harbor Entrance to the L/R.

4:29pm, received report of fireworks at Harbor Cove near the mermaid statue. Officers responded, found a rap group filming a video and igniting fireworks. The video production was terminated and warnings for the fireworks given.

7:37pm, dispatched to an overdose in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted VFD/VPD/AMR with the patient who suffers from multiple aliments but at this time only having an argument with her children.

Wednes
12-23

12:15pm, dispatched to a cardiac arrest in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and found the patient deceased and beyond resuscitation.

5:33pm, received a report of an injured squirrel near the Harbor Town point. Officers were able to capture the animal and turn over to rescue volunteers.

Thursday
12-24

.3:30pm, dispatched to a fire alarm in the Harbor Storage facility. Officers responded and found an active fire in a few units, updating dispatch. Multiple agencies responded and were able to put out the fire and minimize damage.

Friday
12-25

4:21pm, dispatched to a water rescue, kite surfer in distress near the Ventura Pier. Officers responded in Rescue B-19 along with multiple other agencies. The victim was found as reported and assisted to the shore, no injuries reported.

Sunday
12-27

2:25pm, received multi reports of a damaged dock in the keys. Officers responded, found the dock as reported. Relayed dock repair companies contact info. Harbor Patrol is not equipped to repair, construct or give advice on repairs.

Tuesday
12-29

12:15pm, received mayday call, small vessel disabled near the #4 buoy. Officers responded in Rescue B-19 and towed the vessel to the launch ramp.

12-30

9:30am, observed a life-sized blow-up doll adrift in the at the entrance to the keys. Officers responded, pulled the life-like doll onboard and disposed of it.

Thursday
12-31

10:00am, Due to the COVID-19 stay at home order, the General Manager has decided to close the Port District, Operations offices. Please call or email if you need to drop off payments or anything from the Port District till further notice.

7:15pm, received report of suspicious persons, skateboarders in the VHV boatyard prowling around a large yacht. Officers responded, found the juveniles as reported. The group removed from the yard, issued warnings for trespassing.

Friday
1-1-21

7:09am, dispatched to smoke seen near Spinnaker/Harbor. Officers responded and found a transient with a warming fire just off the road. Convinced the individual to extinguish the fire and to refrain from igniting fires in the future.

Saturday
1-2

11:38am, dispatched to a unconscious person in the VHV, near 1583 sector. Officers responded and assist VFD/AMR with a 103 y/o male who fainted and was confused what happened. The patient was transported to local hospital.

3:30pm, while on patrol in Rescue B-19, officers observed a kayaker near the end of the Ventura Pier displaying the international sign of distress (waving both arms) and investigated. The individual was exhausted and afraid to attempt heading to shore due to the large waves (10-12ft). The victim was taken aboard and to the harbor, transported to his vehicle near the pier. No injuries occurred.

Monday
1-4

11:04am, received a report of a seiner skiff operating more than 5mph in the mid area of the harbor. Officers responded but were unable to locate the operator

1:42pm, received a report of an injured sea bird near 1591 Spinnaker. Officers responded and were able to catch the bird and transferred to rescue volunteers.

5:03pm, received complaint of two children riding scooters in and out of Harbor Cove onto Spinnaker w/o supervision. Officers responded, found the pair, then found the parents and advised of the danger of both their actions.
