9:55pm, contacted by individuals who lost an iPhone on the beach near Surfers Knoll. Officers assisted with the search and were able to locate the lost phone.

11:00am, officers giving a tour of harbor and memorial to the family and grandchildren of Harbor Patrol Officer Paul Korber who died in the line of duty during a water rescue of a family in the South Jetty rip current in 1998.

10:56am, dispatched to a sick person at Le Petit Café in Harbor Village. Officers responded in Harb 1 with AMR/VFD to assist in treatment of the patient..

9/17

7:02am, dispatched to a fall victim in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded with VFD/AMR to treat an older male with a laceration to forehead and lip. First aid was rendered to the wounds and patient transported to hospital.

8:29am, received report of a hazardous condition in the Ventura Keys. Officers responded and found workers demolishing a cement dock and throwing the debris into the harbor. Officers halted the work, contacted Ventura code compliance to enforce pollution violation. Keys are the jurisdiction of Ventura.

9:50pm, dispatched to traumatic injury on a boat heading back to Harbor, District Longdock. Officers responded with AMR/VFD to extricate/treat a patient with broken leg/laceration from collision. The patient was transported.

12:05pm, received a request for assistance to capture an injured pelican at the S/C Rivermouth. Responded, captured bird and transported volunteer to vehicle.

Tuesday
9/20

9:47am, dispatched to a fall victim at Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and lifted the patient, no medical occurred during the fall.

10:49am, observed a thick heavy fog bank rolling in, visibility less than 1/8 mile

Thursday
9/23

6:23pm, received a request for impounded property, an electric bike from several months ago. Officers confirmed the property was still at the District. The individual recovered from a major medical, he will pick the bike up soon

9/25

6:00am, observed: National Scholastic Surfing Association putting on Southwest Open season surfing contest at South Beach near the Surfers Knoll Jetty. Hundreds of competitors competing from Mini Groms to Open Mens, boys and girls from all over the State of California. The contest continues tomorrow.

9:27pm, received request from a 70ft sailboat looking for accommodations. Officers were able to find a slip in Ventura Harbor Village for the vessel.

10:45am, received a report of nuisance sea lions on most of the demolished Ventura Isle Marina F-docks. Officers responded but were unable to mitigate the issue, just too many mammals. NOAA has a list online of reasonable methods for property and boat owners to remove sealions from their property.

9/27

7:50am, received a report of a suspicious vessel, possibly a panga near Little Rincon. Officers responded in Fireboat to investigate the report. When officers arrived on scene, they found a local commercial fishing vessel retrieving traps.

4:45pm, received 911 relay report from CHP of a large sailboat adrift in the sand trap, in danger of colliding with the North jetty and Breakwall. Officers investigated and found the owner was moving from outside to inside breakwall.

9/7

9:15am, received a complaint from a boater about the Coast Guard boarding a vessel in the fog in the entrance yesterday. An inbound vessel nearly collided with them during the contact. Advised to contact Coast Guard for more info.

7:45pm, educated the operator of a Swan peddle boat about operating after sunset and operating outside of the harbor near the entrance.

5:00am, received report of a person falling off the dock into the water near 1691 Spinnaker Dr. Officers responded but were unable to locate anyone in the water.

10:20am, received a mayday call from a boat dead in the water, 3 miles offshore. Officers responded in Rescue B17 and towed the vessel to the fuel dock. Likely 130 gallons of fuel were siphoned from his vessel. Once fueled it started up.

7:52pm, dispatched to a fall victim at Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with the call. Lift assist only, no medical.

9/9

12:03pm, while on patrol in Fireboat, officers observed a juvenile humpback whale near the Harbor Entrance. Officers observed, it appeared not in danger.

5:33pm, while on patrol in the fireboat, officers educated the operator of a PWC (personal watercraft) about speed and wake ordinance in the main channel.

6:04pm, dispatched to an Ocean rescue, swimmer in distress at Surfers Knoll. Officers responded by truck and in the fireboat to the call. A long-distance swimmer was outside the surfline, in no distress. Advised swim closer to shore.

9/10

6:03am, while on patrol officers observed a tree had fallen from Harbor Blvd onto Navigator near the Holiday Inn Express. Later, Crews removed the tree.

10:05am, while on patrol in RB17, officers observed a humpback whale approximately ½ mile off the Harbor Entrance. Also observed thick Red Tide.

9/11

6:00am, flags placed at half mast to honor the victims of 9/11.

8:10am, contacted by a surfer about a hypothermic swimmer being assisted into the beach by swim club. Activated EMS and officers began treatment for hypothermic symptoms for an 18 y/o female. Patient was transported by AMR.

9:20am, receiving reports of a whale in harbor, officers in the Fireboat and Rescue B17 were attempting to persuade a humpback whale to leave the main channel of the harbor, keeping inbound/outbound vessels away from mammal.

10:59am, dispatched to chest pain in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR. 68 y/o female transported to hospital.

5:21pm, received report of two whales in the harbor. Officers responded in the Fireboat and found a baby whale near the entrance and one outside the harbor.

11:30am, Art Walk in the village has the area at capacity for people and parking.

5:50pm, dispatched to a medical at 1691 Spinnaker Dr, Island Packers. Officers responded with VFD/AMR to assist with the call.

8:54pm, received a request to open a locked parking lot so a vehicle could get out. After brief investigation, discovered the person was in CI Harbor.

Monday 9/13

8:34am, dispatched to an ill person at 1591 Spinnaker. Officers responded and found a 51 y/o male who drank too much alcohol. Transported to hospital.

8/18

7:33am, received a report of car vandalism near Surfers Knoll parking lot. Officers investigated and found the word “Donkeys” written in surf wax on windows of the vehicle. No other damage or the perpetrator were found.

8/19

10:50am, received report of a water rescue, surfer in distress at the South Jetty. Officers responded in Fireboat 1 to assist a surfer who was caught in a rip current. The victim refused assistance, officers escorted to Harbor Cove.

2:15pm, received report of stingray strike at Harbor Cove. Officers obtained and delivered hot water to State Parks lifeguards for treatment of puncture wound.

10:35am, due to film shoot & excellent surfing conditions, observed a high volume of vehicles searching for parking around the village and beach parking lots. Officers assisted with opening closed lots & directing traffic to open spots.

11:33am, received request for hot water from State Parks Lifeguards for preventative actions for sting ray strikes at Harbor Cove, delivered hot water.

8/21

12:18pm, while on patrol in Rescue B-19, observed a boat club vessel in violation of speed and wake ordinance near the mid harbor area. Warnings and education of local laws and safety inspection were conducted.

2:02pm, dispatched to a stingray strike at Harbor Cove from State Parks lifeguards. Officers responded with hot water to treat the puncture wound.

11:20pm, received report of a female transient screaming at people. Officers responded and observed the subject running away onto the beach. Attempts to locate the subject on the beach and determine wellness were unsuccessful.

1:23am, observed and contacted a large group of juveniles loitering with their vehicles near Harbor Cove. After repeated requests to leave, the group departed.

3:53am, while on patrol, officers observed graffiti on the Harbor Cove restrooms and lifeguard tower, likely scrawled by the large group of juveniles from earlier.

9:01pm, observed an RV driving around aimlessly around the harbor parking lots. Officers contacted and the female drive advised her brakes don’t work. She asked if we had a cup of tea. Educated about camping ordinance.

8/25

4:52pm, dispatched to a vehicle shearing off a fire hydrant in front of the Ventura Yacht Club. Officers responded in vehicle and found the hydrant but unable to locate vehicle. Ventura Fire secured water flowing from the hydrant.

8/26

9:35am, officers assisting Ventura PD with contacting and mapping transient camp sites in the Santa Clara Riverbottom to remove the campers.

4:25-5:05pm, received two separate reports of stingray strikes from State Parks at Harbor Cove. Officers responded with hot water to treat the puncture wounds. One of the patients was struck on both left and right feet. Strikes are painful.

10:04pm, received a report of loud music near the Harbor Cove Café. Officers responded and found a group of 50+ bicyclists in the Harbor Cove parking lot dancing and frolicking. The group apologized and began to gather their bikes.

9:10am, officers proctoring 500-meter tryout swim for a Ventura Harbor Patrol Officer I position in the Pierpont Basin from the Fireboat for a few participants.

9:00am, officers proctoring another 500-meter swim for Ventura Harbor Patrol officer I. Five candidates completed the process so far.

1:01pm, Received report from State Parks of a disabled vessel in the swim area at Harbor Cove. Officers responded in Rescue B-17, assisted TowBoat US.

5:16pm, received report of a disabled skiff in front of State Parks Headquarters. Officers responded in Rescue Boat 19, found the skiff anchored as reported. The skipper was taken onboard and the small craft was towed to the launch ramp.

11:15am, received a request to check the well being of a dog in a locked vehicle in the village. Officers responded and were able to ensure the dog was safe.

12:01pm, received report of a panga aground near oil piers from US coast guard.

8/05

2:33pm, dispatched to an unconscious person at 1559 Spinnaker Dr. Officers responded with AMR/VFD to the call. Patient was assessed then transported.

5:20pm, dispatched to a fall victim at Ventura Isle Marina promenade, a 94 y/o female. Patient was assisted and refused any further treatment.

5:35pm, dispatched to person not breathing in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded, found a patient long deceased, no resuscitation possible.

3:40pm, received report of 4 swimmers stranded on the detached breakwall. Officers responded with State Parks and safely returned the group to shore.

Saturday
8/07

1:25pm, observed two PWC’s inbound at a high rate of speed. Officers contacted the operators, and one had a medical emergency. The pair were escorted to the launch ramp and the patient refused treatment, self-transported.

5:50pm, received report of suspicious person parked in a vehicle near 1691 Spinnaker Dr. wearing a masquerade mask and acting strangely. Officers responded and were able to remove the individual from the parking lot.

6:06pm, received report of a StandUp paddle board aground near Seaward Ave with no one around. Officers responded in Fireboat and after brief investigation the operator of the vessel had ditched the board earlier and was rescued.

10:31pm, received request for escort to the harbor due to thick fog from a motor vessel 5 miles offshore. Officers responded, found the vessel and using radar were able to safely guide the lost craft back to the harbor in dense fog.

11:23pm, while on patrol in vehicle, officers observed a large group of skunks crossing the street near the Ventura Boat Yard into the settling ponds. Provided traffic control for the group to safely cross Spinnaker drive.

8/11

11:59pm, monitored VPD responding to report of shots fired near the Launch ramp. Officers advised of fireworks ignited at Marina Park. VPD confirmed that no shots were fired as reported and that fireworks were mistaken for gunfire.

8/12

10:03pm, contacted about an intoxicated transient in his vehicle attempting to drive. Officers made contact and after several attempts were able to convince him otherwise. His keys were taken and he was advised they would be returned.

8:50am, officers heading to the pier in the Fireboat to monitor the State Parks Junior Lifeguard swim around the pier.

1:36pm, returned the keys that were impounded from the intoxicated male transient who was attempting to drive while under the influence. He was upset.

11:45am, received several reports of a sick/injured sea lion near Portside C-dock officers responded, and observed a sea lion “thermo-regulating” on the dock. No injuries or sickness observed, just a sealion sunbathing.

11:20am, received report of a sting ray strike at Harbor Cove from State Parks lifeguards, they are requesting hot water to treat the puncture wound. Officers responded in truck with hot water to treat the wound. Patient self-transported.

5:18am, received a report of a disabled 16ft skiff near the breakwall. Officers responded in Rescue B-19 and towed the vessel safely back to the launch ramp.

3:40pm, dispatched to an unknown medical in the parking lot at 1559 Spinnaker. Officers responded and found the patient in a vehicle slumped over the steering wheel. The patient was just sleeping.

1:45pm, received report of a stingray strike at Harbor Cove, tower 3 from State Parks lifeguards. Officers responded with hot water to assist treating the injury.

7/22

7:11pm, dispatched to a fire alarm at Portside. Officers responded with Ventura Fire to the call. No fire discovered; Portside maintenance reset the alarm.

6:28pm, received report of an obscene bumper sticker on a vehicle in Ventura Harbor Village. Officers responded but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Saturday
7/24

7:10am, observed the National Scholastic Surfing Association conducting an Open Season event at Surfers Knoll Jetty. Observed a large group of surfers for the event. The competitors were enjoying good waves and conditions.

11:03pm, while on patrol, observed an RV with persons camping at the launch ramp. Officers educated the travelers from Brazil where they can legally camp.

5:15pm, received a report of a water rescue at South Beach with four swimmers caught in a rip current. Officers responded by land in Harbor 1 and on Rescue Watercraft (waverunner) to assist State Parks Lifeguards with rescue. All victims were returned to shore and no injuries suffered by the foursome.

7/28

12:50pm, received a report of a water rescue, capsized kayak/person in the water. Officers responded in RB19 to pull the victim from the water and tow the kayak back to the rental dock in the village.

Thursday
7/29

2:10am, observed an 8.2 earthquake occurred in Alaska. Officers checked the Pacific Tsunami warning center for information, no advisory issued for Calif.

3:30am, officers setting up measuring devices and cameras to monitor the predicted arrival of 4:45am of a 0.3ft surge. No anomalies observed.

10:47pm, while on patrol, received report of a fishing hook caught in cheek of fisherwoman. The patient refused medical assistance, officers stood by as she pushed the hook through her cheek and freed it from her face.

9:00am, officers assisting State Parks with junior lifeguard swim at the pier

1:24pm, dispatched to a fall victim in the Harbor Cove restrooms. Officers responded in Harb1 and were able to assist Oxnard Fire 66 with the patient.

4:10pm, dispatched to a water rescue, kite surfer in distress. Officers responded in RB17 and assisted State Parks with the victim who refused assistance.

10:20pm, dispatched to a fall victim in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted Ventura fire with the patient who was lifted, no medical.

8:04am, received report of a dog and persons harassing a skunk at Harbor Cove. Officers responded and cleared the harassers. VC animal control unable to respond, Bird Rescue volunteer responded and captured the animal, relocated it.

3:22pm, dispatched to a medical alarm in Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and found a confused male claiming he was assaulted. Ventura PD was requested and took over the call, victim refused medical care.

11:01pm, dispatched to a fire at Portside apartments. Officers responded with VFD and found a fire alarm sounding in an apartment with the stove on. The incident is under investigation

8:59am, dispatched to a sick person in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with a male unable to move because of injury

10:18am, received report of an adrift kayak near the Surfers Knoll Jetty. Officers responded and found a black kayak that appeared to have been adrift for some time. It was towed, full of water back to patrol dock and entered into impound.

7:21pm, received report of sewage odor near Launch Ramp. Officers investigated and discovered a large pile of decomposing seaweed in the sandtrap

4:07pm, received report of transient locked in L/R restroom. Officers responded and removed transient with bike/bike trailer, 32in flat screen TV, large backpack.

2:30pm, received report of an unconscious male transient on the sidewalk near 1591 Spinnaker. Officers responded and the individual was responsive to shouting to ascertain his condition, the male refused assistance and left the area.

7/6

6:00pm, received a report of a male transient aggressively panhandling, using vulgar language in the village. Officers responded, assisted with removal.

11:37pm, received report of transient camping in his truck 1867 Spinnaker parking lot. Officers responded and contacted the individual. Advised he was heading out on Island packers boat tomorrow. Advised to not camp in the future.

4:00pm, received dispatch to chest pain at VHV store. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with care. AMR transported patient to hospital.

7/8

3:40pm, received report of a stingray strike at Harbor Cove. Officers responded with hot water for State Parks lifeguard injured during physical training.

7:47pm, dispatched to water rescue at Ventura Boatyard near crewboat. Officers responded and assisted a heavy-set female unable to get out of the water. She was pulled out and was released at the scene without any injuries.

6:54pm, received report of illegal fishing at Ventura West Marina G-dock from a tenant. Officers responded and educated then removed the fishermen from area.

11:22pm, received report of a fight near 1567 Spinnaker in the parking lot between 12 males. Officers responded with VPD and dispersed the crowd.

5:51pm, received report of a vessel sinking in the sandtrap from State Parks lifeguards. Officers responded in Fireboat, passed a tow line to the capsized vessels skipper. The 2 POB’s were rescued by lifeguards and the boat towed to the launch ramp were patrol was able to right the vessel. No injuries reported.

3:50am, received report of a transient sleeping in the Village courtyard. Officers responded and were able to check the wellness, then remove the individual.

7/15

8:30am, preparing to tow a 55ft impounded vessel to the boatyard for destruction. The vessel sinking for some time, was towed and hauled out.

4:57pm, received a report of a large peddle boat was caught in the wind near the barranca, entrance to the keys. Officers responded and assisted the trapped boat.

11:55pm, received complaint that transients were camping in the launch ramp restrooms. Officers responded and found the transients as reported, they were educated about the violation and removed with their property.

11:12pm, dispatched to a fall victim near 1591 Spinnaker restrooms. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with an intoxicated uncooperative male. Vpd was requested and the patient arrested then transported to hospital for hd injury.

Sunday
7/18

11:00am, received complaint of a large church group at Harbor Cove, disturbing the peace. Officers investigated, educated the group of permitting, noise level.

12:33pm, received report of stingray strike at Surfers Knoll. Officers responded with hot water to treat the injury; patient self-transported to hospital.

6:20pm, dispatched to water rescue at the Ventura Pier. Officers responded in Fireboat to assist a windsurfer in distress. Subject returned to shore.

6:40pm, received report of a vessel “shooting-the-pier” from State Parks. Officers responded and educated the skipper at the launch ramp.

2:40pm, received report of a capsized sailing vessel near the Ventura Yacht Club. Officers responded, pulled the skipper from the water and dewatered the vessel. The skipper and vessel were towed to the launch ramp.

Thursday
6/24

8:37am, dispatched to cardiac arrest at VHV I-dock. Officers responded with AMR/VFD to the call. Unfortunately, the patient was deceased for some time and responders were unable to revive the victim, a 70 y/o male.

8:01pm, dispatched to a fall victim at Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded, assisted VFD/AMR with the patient who was transported to hospital

11:52am, dispatched to a stingray strike at Harbor Cove, tower 3. Officers responded with hot water to ease the pain of the poison in puncture wound.

6/26

4:25am, contacted by a group of swimmers practicing for a swim from Anacapa Island and utilizing lights/glow sticks to illuminate themselves while swimming.

7:50pm, an elderly male came to the office looking for lost property. The individual was suffering from Alzheimer’s and was eventually escorted to his home in the keys and reunited with his wife.

2:58am, received a report of a crane barge from VIM’s dock project adrift in a finger of VWM phase I. Officers responded with the fireboat and Rescue B17 to the incident. Officers were able to stabilize the barge with assistance from an employee of the construction company. Miraculously, only minor damage was caused by the large crane barge drifting into the marina.

12:50pm, received a request to remove a dead sea lion near the Ventura Rivermouth at Surfers Point. Officers advised that the area is out of Harbor Patrols jurisdiction and recommended contacting City of Ventura and a local agency CIMWI (channel islands marina wildlife institute) to assist with removal

10:03pm, educating several recreational vehicles parked throughout the harbor on City’s oversized vehicle ordinance and Port District’s no camping ordinance.

7/1

6:50pm, received a report of a disabled sailboat colliding with moored vessels in the Derector marina from TowBoat US. Officers responded in RB17 and investigated the boating accident; minor damage was observed and the disabled vessel was towed to the Port Districts longdock until it is towed South in the AM

Friday
7/2

6:45am, received a request to assist Ventura PD with a wanted individual in the area of the launch ramp. Eventually the suspect was arrested without incident.

Saturday
7/3

9:36am, received report of four personal watercraft operating recklessly in the surfline near Faria beach. Officers advised they will attempt to contact the group if they head back to Ventura Harbor. Contact was made at the launch ramp.

11:21am, dispatched to a fall victim on fishing vessel Pacific Dawn. Officers responded and assisted the patient off the vessel and to the AMR paramedics gurney then they transported the patient with a back injury from the fall.

4:45pm, received report of a water rescue near the entrance to the keys, barranca Officers responded in RB19, but were unable to reach the two paddle boarders who were beset by the wind and unable to paddle out of the barranca. The RWC was utilized to tow the pair. They were transported to launch ramp and released.

5:30am, observed Small Craft Advisory issued this afternoon for July 4th holiday

12:23pm, dispatched to an assault at the 4Points Sheraton. Patient refused care.

10:03pm, receiving multiple complaints about fireworks around the harbor. Officers were unable to locate offenders for various reports of illegal fireworks.

2:32pm, dispatched to a lift assist in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted a hospice patient move to their bed, no medical.

6/10

9:45pm, while on patrol, officers observed a large group (500) of juveniles at Surfers Knoll. With assistance of Ventura PD, the crowd was dispersed.

Friday
6/11

8:00am, dispatched to a traffic accident on 1363 Spinnaker Dr. Officers responded and assisted VFD, VPD and AMR with a patient whose vehicle was rear-ended and sustained moderate injuries and major vehicle damage.

Saturday
6/12

6:03am, dispatched to an unconscious person at VWM B-dock. Officers responded and assisted a female with a spider bite, transported to hospital.

12:55pm, dispatched to a male not breathing, no pulse in the 1691 Spinnaker parking lot. Officers responded and found a patient overdosing, beginning assessment. AMR medics further assessed, transported patient to local hospital.

7:10pm, while on patrol in Fireboat, officers educated the skipper of a Boston Whaler in violation of speed/wake ordinance in the main channel of harbor.

6/13

10:10am, while on patrol officers contacted a paddler on a surfboard in the turning basin of the harbor. He was educated about the no paddleboard or surfboard ordinance in the harbor and not in possession of a lifejacket.

1:08pm, while on patrol in Rescue B17, contacted an individual on a motorized foilboard near the fuel dock. Educated about registration/PFD/Speed violations.

11:30pm, while on patrol in the vehicle, officers discouraged a large RV towing a SUV from making a right turn on to Spinnaker Drive and heading into the harbor. The vehicle had no working lights and was looking for a place to park for the night. Educated the driver of the oversize vehicle ordinance in the city.

6:25pm, dispatched to a drowning at Surfers Knoll. Officers responded in the fireboat and observed the patient was on the beach and CPR in progress. They returned and responded in the vehicle to assist multiple agencies with the call. Patient transported to local hospital and later discovered to be recovering well.

6/18

1:03pm, received report of a stingray strike near the Surfers Knoll groin. Officers responded with hot water to treat the puncture wound with Lifeguards.

6/19

7:50am, contacted by individual concerned about a person screaming in the L/R restrooms. Officers investigated and found an individual having internal issues and refused any medical assistance, advised to contact 911 if anything changes.

10:30am, contacted a group conducting competitive paddling class at the L/R. Advised to secure a permit for such activities in the future through Port District.

5:00pm, received request from TowBoat US to assist with a sinking vessel they are towing into the harbor. Officers assisted with Rescue B17, dewatering the vessel as it was towed. Further, officers on land blocked off the east side of the launch ramp so the vessel could be put on a waiting trailer. The vessel was found abandoned at Point Mugu and was a panga possibly used in a smuggling event.

5:39am, observed weather advisory for large South Swell and continued strong rip currents from the swell along all Harbor beaches.

7:17pm, dispatched to a seizure patient at VWM E-dock. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with the call. Patient transported to hospital for evaluation.

Tuesday

11:15am, dispatched to a lock-out in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and were able to gain entry into the unit for the owner. No medical.

5:57pm, received a report of a capsized 19ft catamaran. Officers responded, were able to right the vessel and escorted it back to the launch ramp.

6:19pm, dispatched to a fall victim at the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted a male who fell but sustained no injuries. AMR cancelled

5/30

9:25am, received a Mayday call on VHF 16 from a sailboat near the entrance. Officers responded in Fireboat to assist the disabled vessel. After investigation, it was determined steering was lost due to autopilot was engaged.

4:55pm, received a report of a man harassing sea lions near VIM C-dock. After investigation, it was determined that a lawful attempt, spraying with water, was made to remove the sea lion from a swimstep of a large vessel.

12:35pm, received report of a person in the water from passerby on VHF 16. Officers responded and were assisted by TowBoat US to pull victim from water.

11:55pm, while on patrol, received report of transient refusing to leave 1559 Spinnaker. Officers encountered an individual refusing to leave and brandishing a baseball bat. The subject left the area, stating he was going to Riverhaven.

4:05pm, received report of a petroleum spill near Ventura Boat yard and South Basin. Officers responded in Fireboat and found the small sheen. It was breaking up, and unretrievable. The R/P was informed of the situation.

3:17pm, received a report of an electric golf cart driving on the promenade near VWM. Officers were able to educate the individual of the violation.

1:50pm, received report of vandalism, a rock was thrown through a window of a Ventura Marina Community unit. The R/P believes it was a pair of transients that were observed setting up camp earlier in the L/R overflow lot.

4:12pm, received a report of a Hazard to Navigation, a log near the launch ramp. Officers responded and found large patches of seaweed but no hazard found.

7:30pm, received a request for taking over a tow from TowBoat US. Officers responded and safely towed the vessel to their slip in VWM.

6/5

3:26am, dispatched to a full arrest at VHV G-dock. Officers responded with AMR/VFD/VPD and found the patient overdosed but now was able to walk off the vessel to the ambulance in the parking lot. Patient transported to hospital.

9-11am, officers educated 15 separate boaters about speed and wake ordinance in the main channel of the Harbor. 302(b) Ventura Harbor Ordinance: 5mph from the demarcation line (harbor entrance) throughout the inner harbor.

11:35am, received a report of a sailboat in the surfline near Greenock Lane jetty from State Parks. Officers responded and educated the skipper of the danger.

5:04pm, dispatched to a fall victim in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted a male get back to his chair. No medical sustained in fall

6:56am, dispatched to a stroke patient in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted AMR with 72 y/o female who was transported.

5:30am, observed National Weather Service issued a Small Craft Advisory for winds gusting to 25 kts in the afternoon, western portion of the channel.

5/14

8:54am, dispatched to an overdose at Harbor Cove Beach. Officers responded to a 60 y/o male who had taken 30 sleeping pills, loaded him into the patrol truck and transferred to AMR medics in the parking lot for transportation to hospital.

8:23pm, contacted by a woman near the Port District Longdock with a fishhook in her thumb. Officers performed first aid, but advised the patient needed to go to the hospital or urgent care to have a doctor remove the hook.

10:25am, observed several vessels of all types returning to the harbor because of the dramatic change in the weather with strong WNW gusting to 20 knots.

11:23pm, received a request for a jumpstart from the owner of a disabled vehicle parked near the fish-off-loading pier. Officers were able to start the vehicle.

5/16

12:02pm, received request for the beach wheelchair for an attendee of a wedding at Surfers Knoll. Officers delivered the chair to Surfers Knoll.

1:50pm, observed a Boat Club vessel in violation of speed and wake ordinance in the main channel of the harbor. Officers attempted several ways of contacting the novice skippers of the violation. The owners of the club were contacted and reminded to educate their members of safe boating practices and to ensure they always use VHF marine 16 when utilizing one of their boats.

5:30am, observed National Weather Service issued a Gale Warning for winds gusting to 35knots. Officers raised two pennants for the warning.

4:26pm, dispatched to an ocean rescue, pier jumper. Officers responded in Fireboat. The victim was retrieving beer thrown off pier. No injuries occurred.

12:03pm, while on patrol in fireboat, officers observed a 15ft pleasure craft in violation of speed/wake ordinance in mid harbor. Officers educated the skipper.

3:20pm, while on patrol in the truck, observed two young boogie boarders at Surfers Knoll dangerously close to a strong rip current. The parents and the pair of bodyboarders were educated about rip currents and the ocean.

9:55am, received a report/complaint of a black mastiff harassing other dogs and the owner brandishing knife when confronted. Officers relayed PD contact info.

12:05pm, contacted an outdoor adventure co. at Harbor Cove beach attempting to take a tour out. The guides were advised of the gale conditions and they agreed it was not a good idea to head out with novice kayakers.

7:55pm, dispatched to a person not breathing at Marina Park. Officers responded with multiple agencies. Patient received Narcan, was recovering from overdose.

5/23

10:45am, received report of a boating accident at VIM A-dock. Officers were in the area in Rescue B-17 and investigated. A 43ft sailboat lost power and collided with the dock and requested assistance back to their slip in B-dock.

Monday
5/24

5:20pm, dispatched to an unknown medical at the village. Officers responded and searched the area for a male slouched over the steering wheel, vehicle running. Eventually, the patient was located at Harbor Cove lot and found as reported. No medical, but VPD was investigating possible impaired driver.

5:22pm, dispatched to a animal bite at Harbor Cove. Harbormaster responded with multiple agencies and assisted with a 6 y/o with a bite wound. Patient was treated and released to parents and PD was investigating the incident.

6:25pm, receiving multiple reports a large motor vessel operating erratically in the mid harbor area. Officers responded and found the vessel in its slip in VHV. The skipper advised he experienced steering loss and steered with the engines causing wake and speed violations. Issued educational warning.
