Wednes 12/11

5:30am, observed National Weather Service issued a Small Craft Advisory for northeast winds gusting to 25kts later, raised warning pennant.

3:22pm, dispatched to gas explosion in the Portside complex. Officers responded with AMR/VFD to assist with assessment of a burn victim.

Thursday 12/12

5:30am, observed NWS issued a Gale warning, raised warning pennants.

2:15pm, weather conditions have significantly deteriorated, officers taking advantage to train new officers aboard Fireboat 1 in foul weather conditions.

9:56pm, dispatched to persons trapped in an elevator at the 4points Sheraton. Officers responded with Ventura FD to assist with the call.

Friday 12/13

9:59am, received a “Mayday” call on VHF 16 for a capsized 65ft aluminum purse seiner 1 mile west of Ventura Harbor. Officers responded in Fireboat 1 to the call. Upon arrival, observed four persons in the vessels tender, 2 were injured and officers rendered first aid and transported the pair to the long dock for medics to further assess/transport. A salvage company took over the incident, while the USCG captain of the port issued a 500-yard safety zone around the capsized vessel and the salvage barge with a crane.

3:40pm, Harbormaster and other officers briefing the parade participant captains for the Ventura “Parade-of-lights.” Advising of safety and parade route.

6:20pm, received a report of a horse on the promenade in the village. Officers responded and searched the area but were unable to confirm the report.

7:00pm, received report of persons trespassing on a vessel in the village to watch the parade. Officers responded and removed the group and issued a warning.

Saturday 12/14

12-5pm, officers assisting with Parade of lights preparation, deploying route buoys, gathering tables and chairs, etcetera ….

6:30pm, night 2 of the Parade-of-Lights begins.

6-9pm, various incidents during the parade of lights: officers paused the deployment of a large containment boom at the launch ramp for the capsized vessel outside the harbor. The Parade was started late due to a commercial tow inbound during the start. Escorting a large fishing vessel to their slip during the parade. Delayed the entrance of crewboat because the fireworks had begun. Contacted two personal watercraft for speed/wake violation in middle of parade. Received report of a rental electric boat accident in the keys.

Sunday 12/15

10:30am, senior officers training Marine Safety Officers to operate Rescue Watercraft (PWC’s) outside the harbor, in the surfline and coastal piloting.

12:45pm, officers assisting Port District personnel with cleanup and collecting delineators throughout the harbor, preparing for pickup and storage.

Monday 12/16

6:03am, observed that NOAA issued a Small Craft Advisory, raised pennant.

8:15am, received “Mayday” call for an overturned vessel 1 west of the harbor. Officers responded, ensured that it was the already capsized boat offshore.

6:06pm, received report of “E-Bike” gang blocking the entrance to the Ventura Marina Community. After investigation, confirmed the dispute was mutual. Contacted Ventura PD about the incident, they had responded, are investigating.
