Wednesday 1/15
5:30am, observed NOAA issued a Gale warning, raised warning pennants.
6:45am, received a report of a partially submerged canoe near the breakwall. Officers responded in Fireboat to investigate. The vessel was found as reported and a search of the area turned up no persons. USCG responded and patrol assisted with a search of the area, but nothing was found. Vessel impounded.
Thursday 1/16
2:15pm, received report of a transient camping in the bushes near Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded, convinced the individual to leave.
7:35pm, dispatched to a seizure in a vehicle on Spinnaker Drive. Officers responded with AMR/VFD to assist with assessment and treatment.
Friday 1/17
1:22pm, received request for a tow from a disabled vessel near the launch ramp. Officers determined the skipper was a member of Tow Boat US, contacted them and they were en route to handle the non-emergency call.
7:06pm, dispatched to a strong odor of gas in the village near the fire pit. Officers responded with VFD, observed an odor, but were unable to locate source. Assuming it is coming from the fire pit, secured the gas line.
Saturday 1/18
8:30am, while conducting pre operations checks, officers observed that one of the batteries for the Fireboat was dead. Officers were able to locate a new one at local marine store. Installed and the electronic issue was resolved.
1:00pm, received “Mayday” call, two persons in the water from a capsized kayak. It was determined by latitude and longitude numbers that they were 4 miles outside the harbor. Officers responded with Tow Boat US and were able to assist with the call. The pair had attached a “Mud-skipper” motor to the kayak. Officers educated the adventurers on the dangerous adventure.
1:33pm, Ventura County Sheriff boat and crew at the District longdock, briefing with officers about vessels and capabilities.
Sunday 1/19
6:46am, observed NOAA issued Gale warning, raised warning pennants.
10:45am, received report of a vessel sinking in a slip at Ventura Yacht Club. Officers responded in RB19 and Harbor5 to find a 50ft sailboat taking on water. After gaining access, officers placed three dewatering pumps into the vessel with approximately 1 ft of water in the cabin. When the vessel was dewatered, officers found the source of the leak near the bottom of the bilge. The owner was advised, Tow Boat US responded, assisted the owner with options to repair.
2:40pm, observed a disabled skiff, adrift in the Pierpont Basin. Officers responded in the Fireboat, took the vessel en tow to the launch ramp.
11:16pm, dispatched to a medical at local hotel in harbor. Officers responded with AMR/VFD to assist with assessment and treatment.
Monday 1/20
6:15am, observed Gale Warning still in effect, kept warning pennants raised.
12:00pm, received report of a capsized sailboat outside the harbor. Officers responded, found a 16ft catamaran with 2 persons in water. Deployed 2 rescue swimmers to assist with righting vessel. Towed to the launch ramp, released.
Tuesday 1/21
5:45am, observed NOAA issued a Gale Warning for Northeast winds gusting to 45kts. Officers kept warning pennants up, extinguished Gale warning lights.
Wednesday 1/22
5:55am, observed NOAA issued Gale Warning, raised warning pennants.
9:30am, officers reviewing December 5th Northern Calif Tsunami event.
Thursday 1/23
5:54am, observed Gale Warning still in effect, left warning pennants up.
8:40am, received report of the Pay&Display at the launch ramp is malfunctioning. Officers responded and repaired the machine, back in service.
10:40am, observed a Hazard-to-Navigation near District Longdock. Officers were able to remove a large tablecloth from the Pierpont Basin.
1:50pm, received report of RC sailboat entangled in an outboard at the City Sailing Center. Officers responded in the Fireboat, were able to free the vessel.
Friday 1/24
10:03am, patrol management notifying candidates for Harbor Patrol recruitment.
11:45am, observed a commercial fishing seiner towing a lightboat just outside the harbor. Officers responded in Fireboat to assist, but fishermen refused help.
Saturday 1/25
7:37am, officers updating radios on new Harborwatch vessel. Running coax cables through tower and rewiring new radios near the helm.
1:25pm, received report of multiple disabled electric boats and peddle craft beset by wind throughout the harbor. Officers responded in Fireboat and were able to assist with towing vessels to the rental dock in the village.
3:01pm, dispatched to a medical in the Portside complex. Officers responded with AMR/VFD to assist with treatment and assessment. Patient refused care.

11:16pm, dispatched to a medical at local hotel in harbor. Officers responded with AMR/VFD to assist with assessment and treatment.

6:50am, received report of alarm at 1691 Spinnaker activated. Officers responded and were able to troubleshoot the issue and secure the alarm. After securing alarm, officers searched area for suspicious activity, but were UTL any.
10:15am, while on patrol in the Fireboat, observed numerous Hazards-to-Navigation floating into the Pierpont Basin from the runoff through the barranca in the keys. The entire deck of FB1 filled, then deposited at the launch ramp.
12:35pm, observed fast moving current out of the barranca from rain runoff. Officers turned patrol boats into the current to minimize risk of water inundating the vessels decks through the open transoms. No issues occurred from flow.
Monday 1/27
7:56am, dispatched to medical in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded with AMR/VFD to assist with patient assessment and treatment.
9:00am, while on patrol in Rescue Boat 19, observed numerous types of flotsam in the harbor entrance. Officers removed the Hazards-to-Navigation.
10:05am, officers conducting maintenance on Rescue Watercraft, specifically wiring brushing bolts and applying rust prevention spray and lubricant.
Tuesday 1/28
5:03am, dispatched to fall patient in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded with AMR/VFD to assist with patient assessment and treatment.
7:15am, observed a Hazard-to-Navigation, large log near the harbor entrance. Officers towed the log near the Santa Clara Rivermouth area.
8:50am, observed NOAA issued a Small Craft Advisory for Northwest winds gusting to 25kts later tonight. Officers raised warning pennant at District.
