| 4-26 | 11:03pm, received dispatch to a medical at the intersection of Harbor/Spinnaker. Officers responded and assisted VPD/AMR with a 51 year old female transient who sustained traumatic injuries while pan handling.
11:33pm, while on patrol in the vehicle, officers were notified that a jeep was stuck in the breeched Santa Clara Rivermouth. Several attempts were made to pull the new vehicle out, but were unsuccessful. Eventually the next day, Tow Boat US was able to pull the Jeep out with a bull dozer, a complete loss. |
| 4-27 | 1:55pm, received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked near 1575 Spinnaker Drive. Officers responded and with the assistance of VPD determined the vehicle was stolen from Anaheim. VPD had the vehicle towed. |
| 4-28 | 9:22am, officers monitoring State Parks lifeguard candidates training at the South Beach groin. They are swimming and conducting ins/outs at the beach.
6:20pm, received reports of a large fishing vessel shooting red parachute flares near Arco island. After an investigation, US coast guard confirmed that the flares were just a test with USCG permission, the vessel was not in any distress. |

8:29pm, received a report of an intoxicated male stumbling and tripping on the promenade near 1800 Spinnaker Dr. Officers investigated and discovered an individual with a moderate head injury from a fall. With assistance from VFD, he was treated at the scene and transported to local hospital by AMR. |

| 4-08 | 7:30am, received a request from the Manson Dredge for traffic control. The dredge is heading in due to the predicted foul weather. Rescue Boat 19 and 17 responded to assist the large barge with traffic control to safely return to port.
6:33pm, contacted via VHF 16/12 by the captain of a transiting 54ft sailboat requesting moorage due to the gale warning. They were heading South from Oregon but wished to avoid the rough conditions for the night. Officers were able to assist the vessel with an escort to a slip in the Ventura Harbor Village. |
| 4-09 | 3:35pm, dispatched to a water rescue, windsurfer trapped in the Ventura Pier pilling’s. Officers responded and assisted State Parks and VFD with the call.
5:05pm, Beach Hazard assessment: officers observed very rough conditions at South Beach/Surfers Knoll. West winds gusting to 25kts and 6-8ft NW swells. |

5:11pm, dispatched to a water rescue, kite surfer in distress near the Ventura Pier. Officers responded in Fireboat 1 and assisted Ventura FD, State Parks and AMR with the call. No injuries were sustained and the kite was returned. 8:17pm, dispatched to a fall victim at the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded, assisted VFD/AMR with a 83 year old male. |
| 4-13 | 12:45am, received dispatch to medical, abdominal pain in RiverHaven community. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with the call.
11:11am, received report of a medical at Harbor cove. Officers advised fire dispatch of an individual having trouble breathing. The patient was treated and transported by AMR to local hospital for further evaluation. 3:20pm, dispatched to a patient fainting and experiencing nausea in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with the elderly patient who was transported to local hospital for evaluation. |

8:00pm, observed a heavy fog bank roll in, less than ½ mile visibility. Officers activated the South jetty fog signal, keying VHF 81 five times to do so. |
| 4-15 | 1:25am, received a report of an audible alarm sounding somewhere in Ventura Isle Marina. Officers responded and after investigating found the source of the alarm. The vessel was in no danger, turned out to be a failing CO2 alarm. |

| 3-20 | 11:05am, dispatched to a medical at Harbor Cove. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with a female complaining of seizures in her vehicle at the Harbor Cove lot. She was treated and transported to local hospital.
5:15pm, while on patrol officers observed large waves at Surfers Knoll, South Beach. 4-6ft waves and dangerous rip currents along all the jetties and groins. |
| 3-21 | 10:05am, received a report of a dog attack at Surfer’s Knoll. The dog attacked a sea bird, grebe. Officers rescued then captured the injured bird and arranged for sea bird rescue volunteer to pick up. |
| 3-22 | 12:45pm, received a request for traffic control for Manson Construction tug-tenders towing 3,000ft of dredge pipe for the upcoming project. Officers responded in Fireboat & Rescue Boat 19 to control traffic in the main channel.
3:55pm, while on patrol, received a report of a Recreational Vehicle using the boat washdown. Officers responded and warned the individual of the illegal vehicle use of the boat washdown. |
| 3-23 | 3:05pm, while on patrol in Rescue Boat 19, officers assisted a 16ft Hobie-cat sailboat from the rocks in the Pierpont Basin. The sailboat was kept off the rocks and safely escorted to the launch ramp.
7:45pm, dispatched to an Ocean water rescue, vessel in distress near Marina Park. Report of a vessel was seen earlier and now was not seen in the sandtrap near the breakwall. Officers responded with US coast guard, Ventura fire department, Oxnard Fire, Ventura County Fire, and AMR. After an extensive search for the reported vessel in distress, US coast guard took over the search with assistance from their helicopter. No distressed vessel was found. |
| 3-24 | 2:15pm, received a request for traffic control from Manson construction, towing dredge pipe into the harbor. The maneuver proved difficult due to the surge caused by the large waves from a West swell outside the harbor.
7:15pm, received a report of a disturbance at the Ventura Harbor Marina haul-out docks. Officers responded in Rescue Boat 17 and found an individual attempting to secure his vessel in the haul-out slip but was unable to because a vessel was secured in the slip without permission. After a brief investigation and interview of the two parties, an agreement was reached and the sailboat was secured to a different slip away from the other party. |
| 3-25 | 1:54pm, dispatched to a medical in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with a lift assist of an elderly patient.
4:53pm, received a report of a sick/injured pelican from tenants of Ventura West Marina A-minor dock. Officers responded, captured the sea bird and placed in appropriate container for pickup by bird rescue at the Port District. 8:06pm, dispatched to a traffic accident in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and found a vehicle drove up a carport stair ramp and was precariously “parked” on two wheels. No one was injured in the incident. |
| 3-26 | 12:56pm, dispatched to an unconscious person at the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with a 66 year old male who fell and sustained a major injury. He was transported to hospital. |

Advised that dredging operations were to begin soon and that the debris could be moved/removed at that time with the heavy machinery (bull dozers/skip loaders) involved with the operation. |
| 3-10 | 1:13pm, dispatched to a medical in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with a female complaining of chest pain. The patient was transported to local hospital for further evaluation.
4:40pm, while releasing a tow at the launch ramp, observed a large group of juveniles fishing on the docks. A warning was issued for the violation and the group educated about local ordinances and the priority boaters have at the L/R. |
| 3-11 | 12:15pm, while on patrol in the fireboat, officers observed a whale in the entrance of the harbor between the South Jetty and the Detached breakwall. After a brief investigation, the whale was observed heading back out to sea.
4:05pm, during shift change, officers observed a sailboat in distress just South of the South jetty. Officers responded and found the vessel with 3 persons on board listing heavily on the South Jetty. The 3 persons were dangerously tossed around the boat before a tow line could be passed to the disabled 25ft sailboat. The vessel was towed off the rocks and safely delivered to its slip in VIM. The skipper and one of the passengers sustained minor injuries. |

7:00am, while opening the beach restrooms and gates, officers observed a sweep and cleanup of homeless encampments near the Santa Clara Rivermouth 1:36pm, dispatched to an unknown medical at 2000 block of Bayshore. Officers responded and assisted Ventura Fire Department with the call. 7:03am, while on patrol observed a baby elephant seal crawling up the launch ramp. Officers contacted CIMWI (marine mammal rescue) and assisted with capturing and placing the mammal in their vehicle for further evaluation. 11:43pm, officers monitoring a mayday call on VHF 16, man overboard in the Santa Barbara channel. The call was being handled by the U.S. coast guard. 12:45pm, dispatched to a medical emergency in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted Ventura FD / AMR with a fall patient. 12:15pm, officers in the Fireboat and Boat 17 blocked boating traffic in the main channel of the harbor while Manson Dredging towed 1200 feet of plastic pipe onto Harbor Cove from Channel Islands Harbor for dredging operations to start soon. D-9 bull dozers moved what little sand was left on Harbor Cove, South Beach and Surfers Knoll to begin placing the dredge pipe. |

| 2-22 | 6:35am, received a report from US coast guard reporting a 58ft motor vessel eperb activation in Ventura Harbor. After an investigation the incident was determined to be a false alarm. The device was taken off the vessel and accidentally turned on in a moving vehicle heading inland. |
| 2-23 | 2:20pm, dispatched to a fall patient at Seahorse Lane. Officers responded and assisted Ventura fire department with the patient, moving the male to his bed.
11:32pm, while on patrol in boat 17, officers issued warnings to two fishermen on a 16ft vessel near the entrance for illegal placement of hoopnets in the harbor entrance. The nets were removed and the catch returned to the sea |
| 2-24 | 12:03pm, received a report of a commercial fishing vessel not securely tied to its berthing. Officers investigated and found the vessel with loose spring lines. The vessel was re-secured by officers and the owner notified.
8:35pm, received reports of transients in the restrooms of Ventura Isle Marina. Officers responded and cleared the restrooms and ensured they were secured. 9:33pm, while on patrol, officers were contacted by the manager of the Ventura Marina Community. He advised that transients were trespassing through the park. Officers assisted and helped cleared the park of trespassers. |
| 2-25 | 8:40am, harbormaster giving the new Harbor Commissioner a tour of the harbor on the fireboat.
8:53pm, received a report of a pitbull on the loose in the Harbor Village from the Dockmaster. Officers responded but were unable to locate the dog. 11:53pm, monitored VHF marine radio alerting that a 17ft motor vessel is submerged at the Channel Islands Harbor breakwall. Several fishermen in the area responding to the “securite” for more information on VHF 16. |
| 2-26 | 10:53am, received a report of a robbery at the Village Market. Officers responded and investigated the report of a male transient who took cookies and candy without paying for the items. The incident is under investigation.
4:45pm, report of a 19-year-old male transient acting strangely and refusing to leave the Sheraton. Officers responded and contacted the individual. He was influenced to leave the area because he was trespassing. |

| 2-4 | 4:45pm, while on patrol, officers Beach Hazard assessment: water quality very poor due to both rivers and river mouths (Santa Clara / Ventura) are flowing heavily from the recent rains. The wind is stirring up the waves tremendously forcing the National Weather Service to post a Small Craft Advisory. |
| 2-6 | 2:50pm, observed several Hazards-to-Navigation throughout the harbor: large logs from the many storms washing them down the Santa Clara River and the Barranca in the keys. The logs were removed and taken out at the launch ramp. |
| 2-8 | 11:30am, received a report of a lost dog from the owner. The dog escaped from his vehicle. Officers searched by boat and by vehicle and were able to locate the k-nine at the Santa Clara Rivermouth and return to the owner. |
| 2-9 | 9:55am, received a report of a vessel sinking in the keys. Officers responded, pumped out the 16ft electric craft and towed it to the boatyard for haul-out.
11:15pm, contacted 3 fishermen on an 8ft inflatable in the Harbor entrance for multiple hoopnetting and safety violations. Their voyage was terminated; they were escorted to the L/R due to lack of navigation lights and no lifejackets. |
| 2-11 | 4:53pm, received a report of a local transient trespassing in the restrooms of Ventura Isle Marina. Officers responded with Ventura Police to the call. The transient was searched for contraband and issued a no trespass order. |
| 2-13 | 9:15am, received a report of an individual unconscious in the 1597 Spinnaker restrooms. Officers responded and found the individual unresponsive. Eventually the individual was awakened and removed from the restroom. He is a local transient who is under a no trespass order and he left the area quickly. |
| 2-14 | 8:37pm, received a report of a flare sighting with the flare landing near the intersection at Harbor Blvd and Olivas. A search was conducted, including utilizing night-vision to search the area for a disabled vessel, but none found.
1:10pm, received a report of a hazard-to-navigation, a large tree branch caught underneath a sailboat in VWM. Officers responded but were unable to dislodge the object, a dive service was called to remove the object. |

8:57am, received a report of a sailing vessel bow line unsecured at VIM end-tie. Officers responded and re-secured the vessel to its berthing.
3:25pm, officers observed and reported several oiled grebes near the launch ramp to sea bird rescue. They assisted capturing the birds for oil/tar removal. 2:55pm, received a report of a pedal boat besieged by the wind near the launch ramp. Officers responded in the fireboat, found the pedal boat, took the two passengers aboard and towed the vessel to the rental dock in the Harbor village 10:40am, dispatched to a man slumped over his steering wheel near 1691 Spinnaker. Officers responded and found a 70 year old unresponsive but with a pulse. Eventually he regained consciousness and was taken by ambulance to local hospital for further evaluation by AMR. 11:50am, received a report of a vessel taking on water at VHV. Officers responded in the vehicle with a portable de-watering pump. After a quick assessment officers de-watered approximately 80 gallons of water out of the vessel forward hatch, but were unable to get to the bilge. A bilge pump was discovered and officers were able to get it working and dewatered the boat. 3:59pm, dispatched to an assault victim at Marina Park. Officers staged in Boat 19 at the city dock to Marina Park. The patient was treated at the scene by AMR and Ventura fire department. |

| 1-29 | 3:45pm, received dispatch to a 50ft vessel on fire, 8 miles South of the Harbor. Officers responded with VFD engine 2 to the vessel in the shipping lane. After experiencing rough seas, HP fireboat began fire suppression of the commercial fishing vessel. During the firefight, the fireboats plumbing failed and dewatering of the bilge began. US coast guard took over the call. The vessel burned for a few hours and was eventually towed to its homeport in LA. |
| 1-30 | 11:54am, dispatched to a drowning victim at VWM A-dock. Officers responded with VFD/AMR and discovered an elderly female DOA in the water, then pulled onto the dock. The incident was handled by Ventura PD. |

| 1-10 | 1:42pm, dispatched to a water rescue, surfer in distress off of Martha’s Vineyard lane. Officers responded and searched the area, eventually finding a few surfers who were not in any distress, just riding big hazardous waves. |
| 1-12 | 9:33am, while manning the operations center, received a report of a transient sleeping in the 1593 Restrooms. Officers responded, found the subject and removed him and his belongings from the restrooms. |
| 1-13 | 8:55am, dispatched to a fire in the riverbottom. Officers responded with Ventura Fire Department and discovered a light smell of smoke but were unable to locate visible smoke or fire in the area reported. |
| 1-14 | 4:50pm, while on patrol officers made beach hazard assessment. Large waves and extremely strong lateral currents affecting shoreline from South Jetty to Santa Clara Rivermouth. Beach erosion is significant, a few ft from water enough to leaving just a few feet from the beach dunes to the waterline. |
| 1-15 | 8:40am, while performing pre operations of the patrol vessels, officers were chased by a large aggressive sea lion off the dock. |
| 1-18 | 7:01am, Beach Hazard Assessment, officers responding to and observing several incidents related to the High Surf and Small Craft Advisories. Severe beach erosion, storm surge has sent water into the parking lot at Harbor Cove forcing patrol to close the South end of the lot, several of the navigation buoys in the Harbor are off station and the out-rigger clubs were advised of the high water and were forced to move their canoes to higher ground at Harbor Cove.
10:01am, dispatched to a water rescue at the Ventura Pier, surfer in distress. Officers responded in the fireboat and found the surfer not in distress. 2:00pm, received a dispatch to a water rescue, swimmer in distress off of San Pedro Lane. The swimmer made it safely to the shore, no injuries. |
| 1-19 | 10:20am, received a request from the captain of the disabled National Park Service Ocean Ranger for a tow. Officers responded and towed the vessel. |
| 1-20 | 7:45am, officers are observing “King-Tides” and recording the event through-out the harbor. Tides: 6.9ft at 7:54am. No damage was reported.
5:12pm: while on patrol, officers received a report of a vehicle colliding with a fire hydrant at 1575 Spinnaker Drive, sheering it off. Officers responded with VFD, VPD, Ventura Water and Carlson Towing. No injuries were sustained by the subject. The water was turned off and the vehicle towed. 8:15pm, observing the “Blood Moon” lunar eclipse occurring. Also observing strong winds, 35-40 knots out of the West. |
| 01/21/19 | 10:59am, dispatched to a medical in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with a female with moderate injuries.
3:45pm, received a report of a possible fuel spill at Ventura Isle Marina. Officers responded, searched the area, found a small sheen, but UTL source. 6:17pm, received a report of a vessel in distress from VPD dispatch. While responding, received call from the captain of the disabled vessel, they have wrapped their prop with line from a hoopnet. Advised to put on lifejackets and drop anchor. After difficulty ascertaining the location of the vessel due to the captain’s lack of local knowledge and Small Craft Advisory conditions, officers were able to co-ordinate with Ventura Fire to rescue the 3 persons onboard who were cast overboard in the rough conditions. All 3 persons were evaluated for moderate injuries, later released. Vessel stranded on the rocks. |

| 12-26 | 1:33pm, while on patrol in the truck, officers observed several inexperienced swimmers wading in the shorebreak near Surfers Knoll. Warnings and removal from the water were conducted. |
| 12-27 | 1:45pm, received a report of a small sailboat in distress, lost their rudder in the A-basin near VIM J-dock. Officers responded and towed the vessel to the L/R. |
| 12-29 | 10:50am, officers received a report of vandalism in the restrooms near 1600 Spinnaker Drive. Apparently, a key card was illegally obtained by some transients and they are vandalizing the restrooms. |
| 12-30 | 4:00pm, received a dispatch to a water rescue, paraglider down somewhere between the Ventura Pier and the Mandalay powerplant. Two Harbor Patrol vessels responded along with US coast guard, State Parks, Ventura Fire, Vessel Assist and Ventura County Sheriff. After all responding agencies searched the areas reported, no persons or paraglider were found. The incident was determined most likely related to a parasailing company from CI harbor. |
| 12-31 | 4:30pm, while on patrol in the truck, officers observed hazardous sea conditions and very pronounced beach erosion between Surfers Knoll and the South Jetty. A large and dangerous berm exists South of Surfers Knoll.
5:30pm, received an anonymous report of illegal possession of a protected animal. Officers responded and found some evidence of a possible violation. |

The sailboat and crew were safely towed and secured to their slip in Ventura West.
2:00pm, received a report of a 30 year old female transient endangering herself. Officers responded, found the female safe and advised not to go into the ocean because of dangerous conditions. She left Surfers Knoll area. 11:20am, received a report of a diesel spill at VWM C-dock. Officers responded on the fireboat and investigated. 7:30am, officers escorting a group of bird counters around the harbor in Boat 17 to count birds. The main area of interest is the Harbor Breakwall. 1:05am, during a recording of the rain gauge, observed very heavy surge affecting the patrol vessels from the large swell. Officers added more spring lines to secure the vessels and limiting the collisions between dock and vessels. 11:45am, received a report that the Santa Clara Rivermouth breeched. Officers responded and observed a violent burst with raging water with standing waves 5-6ft high. By-standers were warned to stand back. 6:31pm, received a dispatch to an unconscious person on their vessel in VIM E-dock. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with a 61 year old male with high blood sugar and neck pain from a fall. The patient was treated on scene for the ailments and transported to local hospital for further evaluation. |

12-18 4:45pm, while on patrol, officers observed hazardous conditions at the South Beach, Surfers Knoll and Marina Park. High Surf, 6-10ft with numerous and powerful rip currents all throughout. NWS issued warnings for conditions.
8:40pm, dispatched to a fire near Harbor/Olivas park. Officers responded and observed the burnoff in the field South of the Santa Clara River, no fire.
12-19 5:03pm, received a report of a boat fire near Island Packers dock. Officers responded in the fireboat and found one of the older diesel commercial fishing light boats was dormant for a while and a lot of soot/smoke was expelled from the vessel’s exhaust upon it being started. No fire was observed.
9:10pm, advised of a diesel spill near VHV H-dock from the Dockmaster. Officers responded to the report, but no source for the small spill was located.
12-20 8:01pm, received request for entrance conditions from a vessel transiting the Harbor Entrance. Officers were able to assist the vessel safely into the harbor.
12-21 4:45pm, several reports of navigation buoys within the harbor are off station. Officers responded and towed the buoys back on station. The buoys were off-station due to the high surf and heavy surge from the last week.
8:10pm, received reports of various transients disturbing the peace all around the harbor. Officers responded but were unable to locate disturbing parties.
12-22 7:30am, contacted National Park Service, they advised no personnel on duty due to the government shut down.
9:07am, observed the city dock at Marina Park has broken due to the 7ft high tide. Ventura City personnel were advised and en route to turn off utilities.
12-23 2:00pm, received a request for information on the government shut-down concerning planned trips to the islands on commercial vessels. Advised caller to contact island packers to inquire.
4:56pm, while on patrol near the seaward in Boat19, officers contacted a long distance swimmer. He was escorted back towards the surfline.
12-24 12:40pm, received a report of a disabled Personal Watercraft Craft in the sandtrap. Officers responded and assisted the vessel, towed it and took the operator on board back to the dock in the Ventura Keys.
2:08pm, dispatched to a medical, lift assist in the Ventura Marina Community from FCC. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with returning the patient to his wheelchair, no medical assistance required.
