Vol. 9, No. 15 – April 27 – May 10, 2016 – Forever Homes Wanted

scamp to adopt CARLHi: I’m Wally White a 4 year old handsome Siberian Husky who was found as a stray sitting on the corner of a busy street staring into traffic.  Luckily for me some good Samaritans took me in, fed and bathed me.  I’m a little reserved when I first meet new people, but warm up very quickly.  I’ll need an energetic family as I’m very active and need daily exercise and playtime.  I love my toys and playing fetch.  I hope it’s not long before I find my forever home. CARL

scamp to adopt VCASHi: I’m Roxie a cute little girl that is no joke in the snuggle department…just ask any one of the volunteers at VCAS. I love to accessorize too. I’m not kidding you, she absolutely loves having a pretty scarf put on. She’s full of life as well as love and would be a perfect guest at a miniature tea party. scamp to adopt CABOHi: I’m  Shyla about 5-6 years old Shih Tzu mix.

I’m a really sweet girl looking for a nice home. Wouldn’t Scamp and I make a handsome couple? Call Ventura Highway Luxury Boarding for Dogs, 643-3647 or stop by 4692 Ventura Av. to meet me. I will be even prettier after I have been  groomed.

scamp to adopt CARLHi: I’m Cali a very sweet 1 1/2 year old Dachshund mix who was rescued from Animal Services where I was surrendered by my owners who were moving and I couldn’t go with them. I’m new to C.A.R.L.’s program and I’m thankful to be given a second chance at finding my forever home. I’m housebroken, good with people (including children) and other dogs. Please stop by and me meet, I may be the addition to your family you’ve been looking for.

Lulu and Phoebe were born just one day after their mother, Sadie, was rescued by Ventura County Animal Services after being abandoned in a park. Sadie gave birth to eight babies, all of whom thrived thanks to caring foster homes. While all of their siblings and Sadie herself have found loving homes, these sisters are still waiting for their forever family. Although these bunnies can be a bit shy at first, they respond well to attention and become more relaxed and trusting as they get to know their human companions. As a bonded pair, these girls must be adopted together. Interested adopters can visit Lulu and Phoebe at VCAS at 600 Aviation Drive in Camarillo and ask for ID numbers A601164 and A601166.

scamp to adopt VCAS2What a sweet, good girl Callie is. She loves walks, treats and toys, especially her tug toy. She is affectionate and social and our volunteers report that she’s easy to handle and walks nicely on a leash. Callie loves having the undivided attention of her person, so she would like to be the only dog in your home. This would make her so happy because it would allow her to have you all to herself! Come meet this lady who’s been called “pleasure” to be with. Ventura County Animal Services Camarillo location – 600 Aviation Drive

Adoptable Luna is whispering an important message to her best friend, Prince: live rabbits, chicks and other animals are not Easter toys or gifts. Prince agrees, and he wants everyone to remember that rabbits are an 8- to 12-year commitment requiring daily care.

Easter is for one day, but pets are for life. Ventura County Animal Services urges families to choose chocolate or plush gifts instead. The agency is committed to ending the cycle of impulse rabbit purchases and subsequent abandonments that occur each spring.

In the weeks leading up to Easter, VCAS turns its focus towards public education and outreach about rabbit care and commitment rather than promoting adoptions. Those interested in a house rabbit are invited to visit VCAS at 600 Aviation Drive in Camarillo to learn more about proper bunny care, determine if a rabbit is right for their home, and then return to the shelter after Easter to adopt a rabbit in need. Visit tinyurl.com/princeluna to see Bunny Ambassadors Luna and Prince in action.

scamp to adopt CARLHi: I’m Chato a very handsome looking 3 1/2 year old Chow, just look at the picture my foster mom took of me. I was a ranch dog for 3 years and although I am great with other dogs, I am quite shy of people. I’m lucky to be in a foster home where my foster mom reports that I am making progress every day, and I’m a model dog in the home. I have evolved quickly to being out and about amongst people and in 3 weeks have gone from hiding in the corner and not looking at my foster parents to sleeping on their bed and following my foster mom from room to room.

If you would like to see my progress and beauty (My foster mom says I’m very photogenic.) or want to smile every day by seeing my latest adventures, please check out my Facebook page that my foster mom created just for me! www.facebook.com/AdoptChato

I’m so grateful to have foster parents who are so patient and loving who have been able to bring out the warm loving Chow that I know that I can be.

scamp to adopt CARLHi: I’m Lilo, a very sweet and gentle 7 year old Mastiff mix. I’m more than happy to plop into your lap. I was dumped at the high kill Carson Animal Shelter by my old family right before Christmas. I became famous when Examiner.com published an article about my sad story. Some CARL volunteers saw the article, and decided to sponsor me so I could have a second chance at life!

I’m a little bit older and I have a bum knee, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to run around and play! I love other dogs, and I have a great time with my friends in the CARL play groups.

Of course, I have my own Facebook page now. I share it with my friend FACE, who has a similar story. You can learn more about both of us at http://facebook.com/ToSaveFace

scamp to adopt VCASCandy (A616705) is as sweet as her name. She is a lovable little pup. This active and social sweetie may be short, but she will stand up on her hind legs to find out what you’re up to. This inquisitive, happy girl is so excited to meet you. Nicely balanced with lots of energy but overall well mannered. We love our Candy girl! Ventura County Animal Services – Simi location – 670 W. Los Angeles Ave.

Vol. 9, No. 10 – February 17 – March 2, 2016 – Forever Homes Wanted

scamp to adopt VCASI’m Gordo my family brought me to the shelter to be euthanized because of injuries I sustained after being attacked by a dog. But thank goodness I landed at a No-Kill shelter! The medical staff at VCAS decided they could fix me up. I’m healed and adoptable now. I am so sweet that some of the volunteers used me as a model to show other volunteers how to handle doggies who are not so sweet. I was perfectly behaved and rested comfortable in one of the volunteer’s arms while they finished the class. I like walks and am also happy to sit on your lap or just hang out with you. Ventura County Animal Services – Camarillo location – 600 Aviation Drive.

scamp to adopt CARLHi: I’m Sulley an almost 2 year old gregarious Boston Terrier who enjoys playing ball, running around and antlers are my favorite thing to chew on. I’m in need of a new home because my owners say I fight with unfamiliar dogs I initially meet and have become a liability. Once I get to know the other dog I’m fine. As you can see in my picture I have a cherry eye that they don’t want to pay to have fixed. They’ve given me 30 days to find a new home.

I’m good with older children, but it’s unknown how I am around small children or cats. I will run out an open gate or door, but this can also be corrected with some training. I’m house and crate trained and know how to use a doggie door.

I just want to be a cherished member of a loving family with people who really want me and are willing to work with me. I’m willing and able to learn if you’re willing to take the time to teach me. Could that be you?

Vol. 9, No. 9 – February 3 – February 16, 2016 – Forever Homes Wanted

scamp to adopt CARLHi: I’m Stella an almost 8 year old beautiful German Shepherd mix who loves to give kisses.  I was rescued from Animal Services and I’m grateful to have a chance to find my forever home. I’m an active dog who is good with older children and I’m house and crate trained too. I’m choosy with other dogs and prefer males in playgroups at the kennel. I love going in the doggie pools they have set up for us to cool off and play in. I’m protective of my people and like to be in charge so I need a knowledgeable/experienced owner, additional training and would do best in an adult only home. I need a home with no cats please. I know the basics, come when called, sit and stay on command and walk well on a leash. I’m a really sweet girl who’d love a home and family to call my own. Minimum 6 foot fence required because I’m a good jumper. A 2 foot fence would keep Scamp in.

scamp to adopt VCASHi: My shelter friends call me Lance and I am a true gentleman! I may have been around the block a few times but now I’m in my golden years and really enjoy the finer things in life. I’d be happy to lay by your side all day and enjoy your worship as I deserve. After all, with a name like Sir Lancelot I don’t expect any less! I will reward you with my undying love and affection. Ventura County Animal Services – Camarillo location – 600 Aviation Drive.

Vol. 9, No. 8 – January 20 – February 2, 2016 – Forever Homes Wanted

scamp to adopt CARLHi, I’m Sir Herbert a loving 11 year old Shih Tzu / Lhasa Apso X who was rescued from a high kill shelter where I was turned in by my caretakers after my owner had passed away. I need a new home because I love being around people and I don’t enjoy being left alone. I love car rides, stuffed toys, human companionship and cuddling! I’m house trained, know how to use a doggie door and I’ll even let you know when I have to go outside. I’m great with other dogs, cats and children too. I know my age and eyesight will deter people, but I know my special someone is out there who will see the wonderful companion I will be.

scamp to adopt VCASGracie is a happy girl who wants to show off her twinkle toes! This sweetheart is known for her big smiles and her lively personality–she absolutely loves to dance! Turn on some music, take Gracie onto the dance floor and she’ll boogie ’til the sun goes down. Affectionate, energetic, inquisitive and well-mannered (she’s great on a leash!), Gracie will steal your heart the moment you meet her. While her favorite thing is hanging out with people, she probably should be the only dog in the household. Basically, she wants you all to herself because, like Jerry Maguire’s lady love, you complete her. No need to sign up for Match.com; your perfect match is waiting here at VCAS

scamp to adopt VCAS2xBlue-eyed bunny Robin loves his toys. Play and enrichment are so important for bunnies, especially for the shelter guests at Ventura County Animal Services who are awaiting their forever homes. Balls, paper towel tubes stuffed with hay, and chewable wooden blocks are perfect for a bunny’s mind, spirit, and teeth. To see Robin at play for yourself, visit tinyurl.com/robinbunny. To learn more about what it takes to keep a house bunny happy and healthy, visit www.facebook.com/VCASBunnyBrigade. Potential adopters can meet gentle Robin at the VCAS Camarillo campus at 600 Aviation Drive and ask for ID #A632878.

Vol. 9, No. 7 – January 6 – January 19, 2016 – Forever Homes Wanted

scamp to adopt VCASHi: I’m Killian. Shelter workers call me an “awesome boy!” Indeed, I am. A handsome guy and with a royal bearing. I prefer making the decisions on when I get attention and how much. Cat-lovers knows that’s the trait of a very confident cat. I will settle in nicely in any home where I am given the space I want, and allowed to “call the shots.” I’m friendly, neutered, and ready to come and rule your house. Ventura County Animal Services – Simi location – 670 W. Los Angeles Ave

scamp to adopt CARLHi: I’m Buddy an active 2 1/2 year old Pomeranian/Yorkie X who is in need of a new home where I can get lots of love and attention. My current owners have full time jobs and go to school too, so aren’t able to give me the attention I want to have.

I’m an extremely loving and happy little guy who loves to run, go on walks and be petted and cuddled up next to you. I know how to use a doggie door and I know some basic commands – come, sit, stay, crawl and lay down. I’m good with other small dogs (bigger dogs scare me) and I’m good with children. If you’re looking for an energetic little companion, look no further and come and meet me!

Vol. 9, No. 6 – December 23, 2015 – January 5, 2016 – Forever Homes Wanted

scamp to adopt CARLHi: I’m Chesper a 4 year old Chihuahua X.  My family had to move into an apartment and could not take us. Biggie may be the youngest but he is always ready to protect mom (Hachi, she just got adopted) and me (Chesper, I’m his dad) but if you come close he is so afraid he has to bark even harder. We mostly lived in the yard with a little bit of time in the house. Hachi has good house manners but my son and I are not as good as she is and sometimes we have accidents. We had kids as little as 4 years old come visit us and we loved them. We can’t remember ever meeting a cat but we like dogs. We are bilingual Spanish English. We are all very loving once we know you and we like going on walks with you.

Chance has been a good boy all year long and has one wish for Santa: to hop again. This gentle boy came to Ventura County Animal Services abandoned, scared, and with a paw that had been so badly injured that it healed backwards. Ventura County Animal Services believes that every animal life is valuable, and VCAS staff and volunteers have given Chance lots of TLC. But this docile bunny will need an expensive surgical procedure to repair his injury so that he can be adopted by a loving  forever family. To help fund Chance’s surgery, please visit tinyurl.com/chancebunny.  For information about offsite rabbit adoptions, bunny nail trims, and compatibility dates, visit www.facebook.com/VCASBunnyBrigade.
