Harbor Patrol Blotter

Wednesday 2/11

10:45am, dispatched to Ocean Rescue, surfer in distress at C-street.  Officers responded in Rescue Boat 19 with State Parks to assist the victim.

1:07pm, renewing United States Lifeguard Agency certification.

Thursday 2/12

6:00am, observed NOAA issued a Small Craft Advisory, raised warning pennant

8:00am, officers transported Harborwatch 5 for haul-out and planned maintenance in Channel Islands Harbor.

11:00am, observed a sailboat towing a dismasted sailboat into the harbor.  Officers contacted the skipper offering an escort to the boatyard.

11:45am, observed sea bird rescue in the barranca capturing a grebe.  Officers assisted with extrication from the area.

Friday 2/13

8:55am, dispatched to a panic attack in the Ventura Marina Community.  Officers responded with VPD/VFD/AMR to assist with patient treatment.

2:00pm, observed water in bilges on Rescue B-19.  Officers dewatered the vessel and began investigation of water intrusion.

Saturday 2/14

7:21am, dispatched to a medical alarm in the Ventura Marina Community.  Officers responded with VFD/AMR to assist with patient assessment.  The unit was locked and a neighbor was able to contact a family member to bring a key.

9:10am, while on patrol in the truck, observed several groups setting up tables and chairs on the emergency access ramp at Harbor Cove.  Officers were able to gain compliance and found a better area for them to set up to watch tournament.

2:00pm, received report of an overdue vessel, 22ft sailboat out of CI harbor.  Advised the caller to contact CI harbor patrol and USCG LA.  Attempted to hail the skipper on VHF 16 and called cellphone but no response.

6:45pm, received report of two persons locked into a dock at NPS.  Officers responded, utilized the Fireboat to transport the 2 to the launch ramp.

Sunday 2/15

6:00am, observed NOAA issued a Gale Warning, raised warning pennants.

8:40am, conducting traffic control for the H.R. Morris dredge, maneuvering from the sandtrap to the Pierpont Basin to shelter from upcoming storms.

9:08am, received request for assistance from disabled commercial fishing vessel near the fish offloading pier.  Officers responded in Rescue B-19, assisted with getting back to pier, where the crew were able to repair the shifting cable.

Monday 2/16

6:03am, observed NOAA issued a Gale Warning, raised warning pennants.

6:50am, while on patrol, searching for signs of vessels listing or sails unfurled from the gale force winds, nothing showing yet.

8:49am, officers placing signs/delineators on Navigator near Holiday Inn Express due to flooding from the heavy rains.

Tuesday 2/17

5:48am, observed NOAA issued a Gale Warning for this evening, officers raised warning pennants at the Port District.

8:00am, retrieving a Cal State University research buoy that went aground near Marina Park.  Officers had to swim a line into the beach.
