The CAPS Media website is the perfect way to find all the resources available in the CAPS Media Center. The easy to navigate provides all the information to learn more and become a member of the CAPS Media community.
Under About Us you can find the mission, hours of operation, meet the staff and the board directors and advisors. The site also allows the public to donate to CAPS Media, to support local public access television and radio.
The Membership tab outlines all the benefits available to CAPS Members, including member policies and fees, information on classes, a link to a membership application and an online link for paying the modest individual or organizational membership fee. The Classes tab is used to sign up for the Orientation Class held on the first Monday of every month at 6pm and for the KPPQ Radio Class calendar.
The Streaming tab takes viewers to the live stream of CAPS programming on Channel 6 (public) and Channel 15 (education and government). The On Demand tab presents the complete list of CAPS programming, current and archival. The search feature allows viewers to easily find the desired program to watch.
The KPPQ Radio tab opens another world of opportunities with information on locally produced radio and podcast programs, a link to listen to KPPQ live, membership information, training, and much more.
At the top of the website is a button to sign up for the next CAPS Media Orientation Class, Monday March 2nd at 6pm, and CAPS KPPQ Radio Orientation Class on Tuesday, March 3 at 6pm. Additional information is under the Forms & Documents tab at the bottom of the home page, under FAQs.
2026 is off and running with a variety of activities at the CAPS Media Center. The Loma Vista 4-H Podcast Class is finishing their 4th series of original programs produced in the KPPQ Radio/Podcast studio. The state-of-the-art recording and broadcast studio is available to all CAPS Radio members and organizations, with training provided by station manager Elizabeth Rodeno. Contact Elizabeth at radio@capsmedia.org to discover how to join the radio and podcast community at CAPS.
Recently, CAPS staff members joined a special event at the Museum of Ventura County: “On the Record: Documenting Your Story” – a community-focused event dedicated to preserving local history and family genealogies. The day featured research tools from local libraries, and a keynote speaker on Mexican social movements.
The CAPS Media Center continues to be the “creative classroom” for the award-winning Career and Technical Education (CTE) program known as ECTV, developed by CAPS in collaboration with the Ventura Unified School District (VUSD). This year’s ECTV crew of 26 students collaborate on ECTV journalism programs and short film production, one of which is a finalist at the ACM West Awards (Alliance for Community Media).
In another high school program CAPS staff members Ethan Messecar and Manny Reynoso are guiding students in the Foothill Technical High School Wellness Program in producing a series of PSA’s (public service announcements) for the Directing Change video competition.
There’s much more to share about CAPS Media resources, training, classes, programs, radio, and other opportunities. Discover what CAPS has to offer when you join the CAPS Creative Community.
