Harbor Patrol Blotter

Wednesday 4/16

11:13am, investigating open mic on marine VHF channel 16. After an exhaustive search, officers ascertained the open mic is out of our area.
7:07pm, dispatched to a wellness check on an individual in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded with AMR, contacted the individual, no issue.

Thursday 4/17

8:00am, while on patrol in Rescue B19, officers observed significant damage on the transom of a large vessel in Portside Marina. Conducting an investigation, advising the marina manager and owner of the vessel of observations.
2:30pm, received a request to illuminate the #14 buoy near the barranca and entrance to the keys. Navigation buoys have specific rules and altering them is difficult , officers looking into what can be done to make the buoy more visible.

Friday 4/18

3:05am, received a report of a party disturbing on VWM A-dock aboard a vessel. Officers contacted Ventura PD to assist with the call. Officers were able to disperse the party and send everyone home who is not living on the vessel.
9:19am, received report from caretaker of the large vessel that had damage to the transom. They believe the damage was spontaneous,
that the wood was rotted.

Saturday 4/19

9:00am, received report of a dead sealion adrift near VHV G-dock. Officers responded in Fireboat to tow the sealion out to sea to dispose of it.
1:15pm, received a report of a sick pelican in the Portside near the easter pop-up event. Officers responded, were able to capture the bird for rescue volunteers.
8:50pm, while on patrol and conducting beach lockups, officers were contacted by an individual whose vehicle is disabled because of lost keys. He requested to leave it in the lot overnight, so he could return in the morning with keys.

 Sunday 4/20

8:30am, received report of a boating accident in VWM, C-dock. Officers responded to investigate, found minor damage to two moored vessels. The parties exchanged info, the amount of damage (<500) was less than what is required report able to Department of Boating and Waterways (DBAW).
10:38am, dispatched to a fall patient at 1198 Navigator. Officers responded with AMR/VFD to assist with patient assessment and treatment.
11:48am, dispatched to an unknown problem at the launch ramp. Officers responded with AMR/VFD to the call. While en route all units cancelled.

 Monday 4/21

8:20am, dispatched to unconscious person in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded with VCFD and AMR to assist with patient treatment.
9:15am, flags lowered to half-staff in memory of Pope John FRANCIS.
4:20pm, dispatched to an Ocean Rescue at Marina Park. Officers responded in Fireboat and with Rescue watercraft along with State Parks and VFD. After searching the area for a distressed swimmer, it was determined that the reporting party mistook an offshore buoy for a swimmer. All units cancelled.

Tuesday 4/22

8:10am, while on patrol in Fireboat, officers observed a petroleum sheen around a vessel in VIM C-dock. Working with Marina to contact owner of the vessel to mitigate and/or investigate for possible sources of the spill.
1:40pm, affixing appropriate lights to green “can” and red “nun” buoys in the Pierpont Basin to assist navigation for keys residents and boaters in general.
