Harbor Patrol Blotter

Wednesday 1/8

5:30am, observed NWS issued Gale warning, raised warning pennants.
8:39am, dispatched to wildland fire at the Santa Clara Rivermouth with multiple agencies. Officers responded in truck and assisted with evacuation of homeless.

Thursday 1/9

2:14am, dispatched to a lift assist in the Ventura Marina Community. Officers responded with SQ2 and AMR to assist getting patient up and into bed.
8:08am, observed Gale lowered to Small Craft Advisory, lowered a pennant.
1:19pm, dispatched to Ocean Rescue, vessel aground at Marina Park. Officers responded with TowBoat US, found an inflatable vessel aground with 1 POB uninjured.TowBoat US handled the salvage, removing the vessel.

Friday 1/10

6:30am, observed Small Craft Advisory still in effect, left warning pennant up.
8:15am, received report of Hazards-to-Navigation in the Harbor Entrance, logs. Officers responded in Fireboat to investigate, found various flotsam, removed.
9:37am, while on patrol in the Fireboat, removed large pieces of commercial fishing net and other various Hazards-to-Navigation throughout the harbor.

Saturday 1/11

6:47am, observed the wind advisories continue later, will raise warning pennant.
7:45am, officers performing maintenance and repairs on Harborwatch vessel at the patrol dock. Replaced dewatering pump hose and stainless quick disconnect.
11:45am, observing oil pressure fluctuating on Rescue Boat 19 while underway. Returned to patrol dock and began trouble shooting issue. Eventually discovering oil level was low, allegedly not reading on the dip stick properly.
6:20pm, received request for a jumpstart from owner of a disabled vehicle parked in the Harbor Cove lot. Officers responded, were able to start car.

Sunday 1/12

6:43, observed NWS issued wind advisory, SCA, warning pennant still raised.
12:00pm, officers en route to monitor/lifeguard the “Epiphany” celebration at VHV D-dock front of the Greek restaurant. 12 participants swam for the cross
1:53pm, dispatched to water rescue,person in the water at Ventura West Marina II, H-dock. Officers responded in Fireboat and Rescue Boat 19 along with AMR and VFD. 2 rescue swimmers deployed and responders on the dock to assist victim out of the water. Victim refused care for a head injury, returned to vessel.

Monday 1/13

2:02am, received report of commercial fisherman using a blow torch to light a cannabis cigarette near the village. Security contacted, advised of danger to individual and danger of starting a fire with strong winds. VPD contacted and attempted to find the individual who disappeared onto a fishing vessel.
5:06am, observed NWS issued Gale Warning for NE winds, raised pennants.
6:30am, officers removing items from Launch Ramp washdown, preparing for a new washdown. It will be out-of-service for approximately two weeks.

Tuesday 1/14

6:05am, observed Gale Warning issued through Wednesday evening, Northeast winds gusting to 40kts, warning pennants still up, Gale lights still illuminated .
5:10pm, observed a small inflatable disabled & adrift vessel in the Pierpont Basin. Officers responded in Fireboat to assist 2 persons on the small craft. They refused assistance,FB1 stood by until they were able to restart outboard.
