Ventura Pottery Gallery one-day Valentine ceramic exhibit

The Ventura Pottery Gallery will host a one-day Valentine ceramic exhibit on Saturday, February 11 from 11am – 5pm. The gallery is located at 1567 Spinnaker Drive, Suite 105 in the Ventura Harbor Village. The exhibit will feature a wide range of handcrafted ceramic pieces from over 40 local potters.

In addition to finding a perfect gift for your Valentine, attendees can register and be entered into a drawing for an elegant, heart wall-hanging donated by gallery artist Gayle Bentley Swanson. The drawing will be held on February 11 at 5pm. The winner will be notified and does not need to be present. No purchase required.

ARTLIFE Foundation presents SPONTANEOUS INSPIRATION

The ARTLIFE Foundation presents SPONTANEOUS INSPIRATION the 2022 Mail Art project at the Crowne Plaza. Mail Art is art sent through the mail. It was started in the 1960’s by artists who wanted to move their art out of formal galleries and make their original work available to people for little costs. Since then it has become a world-wide movement.

Dabster Arts Inc. presents Starman solo exhibition of photographs from Markus Klinko

Dabster Arts Inc. is pleased to present Starman. A solo exhibition of photographs from Markus Klinko on view at H Gallery in Ventura at 1793 E. Main. Klinko has shot some of the world’s most memorable photographs featuring the world’s most recognized stars. Our exhibit includes large scale, high impact portraits including Pharrell, JLO, Pam Anderson and of course David Bowie. Markus Klinko is an award-winning, international fashion/celebrity photographer and director, who has worked with many of today’s most iconic stars of film, music, and fashion.

Pastel Society of the Gold Coast

The Pastel Society of the Gold Coast (PGSC) is a member of the International Association of Pastel Societies. The worldwide organization provides a strong voice for pastel artists.

Every weekend in the month of February Passion for Pastels, an exhibit exclusive to pastel, will be shown at the Camarillo Art Center at 3150 Ponderosa Drive in Camarillo. It’s an inspirational family event – introducing children and adults to fine art pastels. Come meet the artists Sunday, February 5th, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

The Pastel Society of the Gold Coast is a non-profit organization for the specific purpose of providing public exhibitions for its members to educate the community through collaboration with environmental and other non-profit organizations, and to promote the arts in general.

Municipal Art Acquisition Program

In May of 1999, the City Council established the Municipal Art Acquisition Program to document the history of visual art in Ventura through the annual purchase of important works of art created by area artists. The collection provides increased access to art of the highest quality and of distinctive merit through its display in the public areas of City Hall and other municipal buildings. “Incoming Ocean” by Sally Miller can be seen at City Hall.

The history of visual art in Ventur

In May of 1999, the City Council established the Municipal Art Acquisition Program to document the history of visual art in Ventura. Much of the art acquire is displayed in public areas at City Hall to be enjoyed by all.

This piece is by Gayel Childress. Award-winning artist she works in watercolors as well as oils and monoprints. She is best known for her fluid interpretations of landscapes and figures that capture the essence of the moment with a superb touch of humor. Childress, who has studied with William Wright, Jan Kuntz, Robert E. Wood and Don Andrews, has shown her work in many one-artist shows and art exhibitions. Her paintings can be found in numerous private and corporate collections throughout the United States and Europe.

Marita Redondo studied Graphic Communications at San Diego State University and received her BFA from Cal State University, San Marcos with an Emphasis in Painting. She has a Master’s in Education and a California Teaching Credential in Art.

Marita’s oil paintings on wood and canvas are often characterized by bold, colorful brush strokes.

For the past 12 years Marita has taught art; currently at Hueneme High. She lives in Ventura and has exhibited at galleries in San Diego, Ventura, Napa, and Benicia.
