The Ojai Valley chapter of NOW (National Organization for Women) will visit the Ojai Library at 1 p.m. & 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2019, to host two screenings and a discussion of the 2014 documentary film She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry.

This free community film screening is being offered in celebration of Women’s History month. She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry takes us from the founding of NOW, with ladies in hats and gloves, to the emergence of more radical factions of women’s liberation. It does not shy away from controversies over race, sexual preference, and leadership that arose in the women’s movement.

Florencia Ramirez will visit the Ojai Library at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2019, to deliver a presentation on her book Eat Less Water. Ramirez is a trained researcher at the University of Chicago’s School of Public Policy.

By 2030, experts predict two-thirds of people living on this planet will not have enough water, a situation expected to result in the deaths of millions and an unprecedented rise in military conflicts. Award-winning author and water activist, Florencia Ramirez, believes that change can happen if conservation efforts focus on the 70 percent of freshwater flowing to the fields and ranches that grow food.

Events are free and open to the public. For additional information, contact Ron Solórzano, Regional Librarian, at (805) 218-9146.

The Ojai Library is located at 111 East Ojai Avenue in Ojai, CA. Hours of service are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
