On Wednesday, February 5, 4:00 to 5:00 pm at Avenue Library, it’s The Green Scene: Growing Leafy Bounty Year-Round. In this tips-filled session, you’ll learn when to plant various greens suited for the local Ventura climate, season extension methods, soil preparation, growing tips, what to do about common disease and pests, and harvesting tips for continual production.
At Hill Road Library – Tuesday, February 11, 5:00 to 6:00 pm. “Growing Leafy Bounty Year-Round,” will focus on planting various greens suited for the local Ventura climate, season extension methods, soil preparation, managing common diseases and pests and harvesting tips.

The Ventura County Library is partnering with Interface Children & Family Services to host “Labor Trafficking 101” during Human Trafficking Prevention and Awareness Month. E.P. Foster Library, Tuesday, January 28, at 5:00 pm.
This presentation is designed to inform the community about human trafficking and labor trafficking along the central coast and identify helpful services and resources. Participants will also learn how to recognize individuals who may be at risk for labor trafficking and identify indicators of labor trafficking.
This presentation includes a screening of the documentary film Trafficked In America.
Local Ojai author Dr. Joseph M.Puglia will visit the Ojai Library at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 1, to give a talk titled “Romantic Myth.” Dr. Puglia explores the evolution and phenomenology of Romantic Myth from antiquity to a classical perspective and through the Renaissance. He will discuss the first love stories, the romantic poets’ explanation of love’s mechanisms, and love’s development and evolutionary history. This event is free and open to the public. The Suspects of Shakespearean Authorship – Tuesday, February 18, at 5:00 pm at Hill Road Library. Shakespeare’s plays are known across the globe and have shaped our literary world for centuries. In last year’s lecture series, Dr. Bob Mayberry presented the myths and legends surrounding the authorship of Shakespearean literature. This year, Dr. Mayberry will share new research and findings in a talk focused on his seven most likely candidates for who “really” wrote Shakespeare! Dr. Bob Mayberry is professor emeritus of English at CSU – Channel Islands and has written novels, poetry, and plays. This event is free and open to the public.
