Business Spotlight: The Taproom Restaurant Anchor and Heart of the Oxnard Community

The Wagon Wheel community in Oxnard has seen a remarkable transformation in recent years and is now a vibrant community with over 1500 new residences, modern retail spaces, and a full-service restaurant within a brewery. January 16, 2025, marked the grand opening ribbon cutting for The Taproom Restaurant at Wagon Wheel Brewing Company as a joint celebration with the Ventura Chamber of Commerce and West Ventura County Business Alliance which was attended by over 100 members of the local community including Oxnard Mayor Luis McArthur. The occasion marked a fresh start for the brewery as an anchor of the area.

The Taproom Restaurant is at the forefront of the Wagon Wheel master-planned community. Developer Carl Renezeder saw the potential in both the brewery and the historic area. Renezeder has spent years designing over 9000 square feet of stunning restaurant, brewery, and private event space with a completely customized vibe to serve as a hub that residents and the community can be proud of. Renezeder thanked all who attended the ribbon cutting and stated, “I am very proud of what we have done here. We have been here for quite a long time, 15 years building this project out. This is a very important element in my opinion to build and to help bring the community together. We want to bring people from all over and I hope you all enjoy it. We are always open to suggestions; we want to make this special. We have an amazing team.” Renezeder concluded that he was very proud of the team’s efforts.

The Taproom Restaurant is managed by Jamison Roy, third generation restauranter and grandson of legendary hospitality operator Ron Newman of the Red Onion and Baja Sharkeez, and Danielle Roy, a LA Business Journal Leader of Influence and Conejo Valley 40 Under Forty Honoree. The brewery boasts a restaurant with an expansive kitchen as well as two full-service bars. It features a delicious culinary menu consisting of gourmet burgers, tacos, pizzas, salads, and more by Chef Shawn Nostifier, cocktails crafted by Lead Bartender Connor Oliver, and award-winning Wagon Wheel Brewing Company beer made by Head Brewer Kolaan Busbice and Assistant Brewer Jose Pulido. Seven days a week The Taproom Restaurant dynamically serves residents, locals, and tourists alike. Its mission is to create a warm and inviting space where the community can gather to enjoy great food, beer, and hospitality, and its vision is to become the heart of the Oxnard community. It showcases daily lunch specials, weekday happy hour, trivia, a giant TV wall to view sports programming, and live music three nights a week.
