The Moon Ditch Mural, believed to be among the longest murals in the United States, is officially complete. The public is invited to celebrate the project on June 27 from 10 am – noon at Leland Street and Hofer Road in Ventura. The program begins at 10:15 am.
Stretching approximately 3,400 feet – nearly two-thirds of a mile – the mural transforms a flood control channel into a colorful tribute to Ventura County’s watershed, wildlife and community.
Designed by Ventura County artist Elisa Torres, the project was created with the help of local artists, nearly 200 volunteers and community partners. Contributing artists include Josh Burns, MB Hanrahan, Kyle Navarro, Dameon Pearson, Monika Petrosky, Andrew Rodriguez and Jen Swain.
The free event will include remarks from artists and project leaders, recognition of volunteers and partners, and a rare opportunity for visitors to view the mural from the channel floor.
