CAPS Media capped off the school year by covering Ventura County graduations, including Ventura Unified School District high schools, Ventura Adult and Continuing Education (VACE) and Ventura College.
All ceremonies were livestreamed and rebroadcast on CAPS Channel 6 and the CAPS Media website. A 30-foot production truck equipped with four cameras, including a drone, was deployed alongside staff and El Camino High School volunteers from the ECTV program to capture graduation events across multiple locations.
Ventura High School and Buena High School held ceremonies on campus, while Foothill, El Camino, Pacific and VACE graduations took place at Ventura College Stadium.
Future Filmmakers workshops set for July
CAPS Media is accepting registrations for its 2026 Future Filmmakers Workshops for students ages 9 to 14. The Live Action Video Workshop begins July 13, where students will write scripts, create storyboards and learn filming and editing techniques before producing short films. The week concludes with a screening for family and friends.
A Stop Motion Animation Workshop begins July 27, giving students hands-on experience producing animated films with guidance from professional filmmakers and animators.
Both weeklong sessions run Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the CAPS Media Center, 65 Day Road in Ventura. The program fee is $250 and includes five sessions, a one-year family CAPS membership, a CAPS Crew T-shirt and participation in a student film festival.
Student projects are broadcast on CAPS Channel 6 and streamed on the CAPS Media website. The program is sponsored by the Jack Oakie and Victoria Horne Oakie Charitable Foundation. Registration information is available at CAPSMedia.org.
Community coverage and programming continue
CAPS Media also continues producing programming with local government and organizations, including the “Ventura Voices” podcast series highlighting city departments, coverage of housing workshops and ongoing city council meetings. The Ventura County Fire Department also uses CAPS Media for training videos and graduation coverage.
Residents and organizations can submit stories, events and media projects through CAPS Media. The center also offers training in videography, editing, studio production and podcasting. More information is available by contacting info@capsmedia.org.
