Wednesday 3/11 

3:30pm, received report of a 14ft row boat with insufficient safety equipment.  Officers responded in Fireboat, contacted the vessel and conducted safety inspection.  All necessary equipment was onboard, they were safely anchored.

5:15pm, received report of a small vessel without engine, up on the breakwall with no one in the area.  Officers responded, it was the same contact earlier.

Thursday 3/12             

7:30am, while on patrol in the truck, observed a smoldering beach fire near Surfers Knoll.  Officers extinguished fire, cleaned up party debris.

1:25pm, officers on scene at CI boatyard, checking progress of project on Harborwatch 5 vessel.  Various maintenance projects being performed.

3:04pm, dispatched to an ocean rescue, kite surfer in distress near Emma Wood State Beach.  Officers responded in Fireboat, searched area, unable to locate.

4:20pm, while on patrol, observed a Standup paddler beset by the wind in the stub channel, near patrol dock.  Officers offered a tow to Marina Park dock.  Passed a tow line and towed to the dock, paddler was grateful.

Friday 3/13     

8:30am, assisting CSULB scientist with research buoy cleaning and relaunch.

9:30am, observed a hazard to navigation, large palm tree trunk in the main channel.  Officers towed the log to the launch ramp for removal.

9:36pm, dispatched to a bon fire at the end of Spinnaker dr.  Officers responded, found a bon fire near out rigger canoes on the dirt lot.  VFD arrived and extinguished the fire, no damage to the vessels or anything else in the area.

Saturday 3/14

5:20am, received report of a vessel sunk in its slip at VWM H-dock.  Officers began investigation, attempting to contact marina manager and owner.  Later in the morning, taking USCG personnel to investigate pollution from the sunken vessel.  Discovered a sheen around the vessels slip and in the turning basin.

11:00am, received aggressive complaint about a tree being cut down in the harbor that has a bird nest in it.  Referred individual to CA fish & wildlife.

Sunday 3/15  

11:00am, officers assisting with Tow Boat US, conducting traffic control while they towed the sunken vessel from VWM to the Derektor haul-out.

3:20pm, received multiple reports of a sick or injured sealion on a pilling of the Ventura Pier.  Officers relayed CIMWI contact info but also contacted CIMWI and advised.  Later in the day, CIMWI officials handled 30 calls in regard to the sealion.  After arriving on scene, the sealion jumped back into the water.

4:03pm, received report of an injured cormorant walking down Anchors Way dr. Officers responded and searched the area but were unable to locate the seabird.

Monday 3/16 

3:26am, dispatched to a fall patient in the Ventura Marina Community.  Officers responded with VFD/AMR to assist with patient treatment and assessment.

9:30am, officers training new Marine Safety Officers, area familiarization.

Tuesday 3/17

3:38pm, dispatched to stroke patient in the village.  Officers responded with VFD/AMR to assist with patient treatment and assessment.

6:07pm, officers enjoying some fabulous weather while on patrol.
