Harbor Patrol Blotter

Tuesday 6/17

  • 4:58am, dispatched to a fall patient in the Ventura Marina Community.  Officers responded with VFD/AMR to assist with patient assessment and treatment.
  • 5:46am, observed NOAA issued a Gale Warning, raised warning pennants.
  • 10:30am, received report of an overdue vessel from USCG.  Officers assisted and eventually the vessel was located near Santa Cruz, not in distress.

Thursday 6/19

  • 8:30am, officers replacing weather monitoring station on top of the Port District.
  • 5:00pm, while on patrol, RB19 officers detained then educated skipper of a yellow electric rental boat for reckless operation, not following rules of the road.
  • 11:30pm, dispatched to an unconscious person in the Four Points Sheraton.  Officers responded with AMR/VFD to assist with patient assessment/treatment.

Friday 6/20

  • 6:30am observed NOAA issued a Gale Warning, raised warning pennants.
  • 11:18am, dispatched to heart problems in the Ventura Marina Community.  Officers responded with VFD/AMR to assist with patient treatment.
  • 8:10pm, received report of 3 juveniles throwing rocks at boats near the keys stub channel.  Officers contacted the crew who were trying to hit the #14 buoy.

Saturday 6/21

  • 11:10am, officers in Fireboat detained then educated skipper of vision electric boat about rules-of-the-road after nearly causing several head on collisions.
  • 4:50pm, received report of vessel accident involving vision rental boat and several moored vessels in VWM A-dock.  Officers responded, investigated but were unable to find damage, the at-fault operator advised he & crew fended-off.

Sunday 6/22

  • 4:49am, dispatched to fall patient in the Ventura Marina Community.  Officers responded with VFD to assist with patient treatment and assessment.
  • 11:05am, dispatched to overdue paddler last seen near Emma Wood.  Patrol Officers responded with multiple agencies to search for paddler.  A paddler fitting the description was spotted near Marina Park.  Officers confirmed it was.
  • 6:06pm, received report of disabled 16ft motor vessel in the sandtrap.  Officers responded in Fireboat 1, found the vessel with 6 persons onboard, passed tow line and towed to the launch ramp without issue.

Monday 6/23

  • 1:55pm, observed fishermen near patrol dock casting at patrol vessels.  Officers made contact and removed the group from the area for no fishing ordinance.

Tuesday 6/24

  • 10:00am, received report of a petroleum sheen near VHV commercial docks.  Officers investigated, but only found red tide remnants in the area.
  • 2:25pm, observed instructor from City Sailing Center operating skiff recklessly in the Pierpont Basin.  Officers contacted and issued warnings for the violations.

Wed 6/25

  • 10:50am, while on patrol in Rescue B-19, observed 2 Standup paddlers without lifejackets in the main channel.  Issued warnings and advice on safer areas.
  • 7:55pm, dispatched to a sick person in the Portside complex.  Officers responded with AMR/VFD to assist with patient treatment and assessment.

Thursday 6/26

  • 5:50pm, received report of a vessel accident at VWM A-dock involving Pink vision rental boat.  Officers investigated and found minimal damage, thus not meeting the criteria for generating a Department of Boating & Waterways report
