Tuesday 8/5
  • 9:05pm, observed two transients inhabiting the launch ramp restrooms.  Officers inquired, removed the pair from the restrooms and secured them.
  • 10:24pm, received report of an outside heater still on at the Waters-Edge patio.  Officers responded, found the heater on and secured it.
Wednes 8/6
  • 11:26am, dispatched to medical in the Portside complex.  Officers responded with VFD/AMR to assist with patient treatment and assessment.
  • 2:30pm, in contact with US Coast Guard “ATON” (aids to navigation)  section, regarding ATON buoys that were moved off station during the recent tsunami event from earthquakes in eastern Russia.
Thursday 8/7
  • 6:30am, observed ¼ mile visibility due to fog, activated the fog signal.
  • 9:00am, officers training aboard Rescue B19 and Fireboat in restricted visibility.
  • 9:54pm, observed and then removed transient from the Launch Ramp restroom.
Friday 8/8
  • 9:15am, dispatched to a fall patient in the Ventura Marina Community.  Officers responded with VFD/AMR to assist with patient assessment and treatment.
  • 1:15pm, officers working with maintenance to repair and figure-out how to secure the launch ramp restrooms more securely in the evenings to deter homeless camping.  The automatic locks have been tampered with.
Saturday 8/9
  • 10:50am, officers aboard the Fireboat participating in a memorial paddle-out at Harbor Cove for a member of the Ventura Outrigger Club.  The fire monitor was turned on for the paddlers and they paddled through the water stream.
  • 2:00pm, received report of a disabled personal watercraft near San Pedro, Pierpont.  Officers responded in Rescue Boat 19 to assist State Parks with call.
  • 5:55pm, received report of a disabled 10ft inflatable near the patrol dock.  Officers responded in Rescue B19, towed the vessel to VWM B-dock.
Sunday 8/10
  • 6:30am, observed NOAA issued Small Craft Advisory, raised warning pennant.
  • 2:40pm, issued a verbal warning via the P/A in the operations center to a vessel in violation of speed and wake ordinance in the Pierpont Basin.
  • 4:58pm, received request for a slip from the skipper of a 26ft radon because he lost a wheel on his trailer and needs to repair before he can retrieve his vessel.  Advised he could use the District long dock for the evening.
Monday 8/11
  • 6:43am, observed heavy fog creating limited visibility, activated fog signal.
  • 3:33pm, received a wellness check on a dog in a vehicle at Harbor Village lot.  Officers responded, found the vehicle and the dog not in any distress with all windows rolled down, water bowl, happy friendly dog.
Tuesday 8/12
  • 8:00am, while on patrol in Rescue B19, observed pollution occurring at VWM H-dock.  Officers investigating an ongoing problem, attempting to find a solution for the issue.  Harbormaster contacting marina manager about issue.
  • 10:25am, patrol officers and marine safety officers participating in rescue swimmer deployment from the vessels Fireboat and Rescue Boat 19.
