Ventura County students now have access to something increasingly rare: 0% interest education loans.
Jewish Free Loan Association (JFLA), a Southern California nonprofit serving Ventura, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles Counties, has officially opened its 2026 student loan application cycle.
Last year alone, JFLA loaned out $3,467,640 in zero-interest education funding, helping students pursue college, graduate degrees, nursing programs, and vocational training – without taking on high-interest debt.
Applications are now open, and eligible Ventura County residents can borrow up to $10,000 per school year – with zero interest and zero fees.
Funds are first come, first served and begin review April 1.

Who Qualifies
Students residing in Ventura County who are enrolled in the following programs may apply:
- Undergraduate programs
- Graduate programs
- Nursing or medical school
- Community college
- Vocational or trade programs
Borrowers repay exactly what they borrow – nothing more. Loans require qualified guarantors but do not require strong borrower credit, making the program accessible to students who may not qualify for traditional private financing.
With tuition rising across California and student loan debt becoming increasingly overwhelming for families, this program offers Ventura students a practical alternative to high-interest private loans.
JFLA has been serving Southern California since 1904.
Since 1904, FLA is a non-profit offering zero-interest, zero-fee loans to individuals, families, students and small businesses in Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara county.
