Three Local Seniors Honored with CMH Auxiliary Maria Cavallo Scholarships

Three outstanding high school seniors were recipients of the Maria Cavallo Scholarship presented by the CMH Auxiliary. These students have contributed hundreds of hours of service as junior volunteers at CMH, and all three plan to pursue careers in the medical field. The Junior Auxiliary Chairperson Marilyn Beal and the CMH CEO Mick Zdeblick presented the awards while proud parents and the Auxiliary Board members looking on.

Rhea Gill plans to study biology at U.C. Davis with a career goal of becoming a pediatrician or an OB/GYN physician. She volunteered over 300 hours and maintained a weighted GPA of 4.53 at Foothill High School. She served as ASB president, Red Cross Club president, and was active in the Bioscience Academy. In addition, she was Interact co-president, played varsity tennis, and was an intern at Women’s Health Group of Ventura. A Cum Laude graduate, she received recognition for National Honor Society, CSF, Platinum Renaissance, President’s Volunteer Service Award (bronze, silver, and gold), and the Ruby Community Service Award.

Amanda Lubbos attended Ventura High School where she maintained a weighted GPA of 4.53. She will major in biology at U.C. Irvine as a step to becoming a pediatrician. While volunteering 457 hours at CMH, she also was AVID president, Health Occupation Students of America vice-president, a Student Ambassador, and Key Club member. She also was a cross-country and track athlete, and a Red Cross board member. She took part in the Ventura County Education Medical Assistant Course, and an internship at Surfside Pediatrics. She was a National Honor Society Lifetime Student, CSF Seal Bearer, College Board AP Scholar, Principal’s Honor Roll, VHS cross-country “Most Inspirational” athlete, and Cougar of the Month.

Aditi Shanbhag contributed 364 hours of service and maintained a 4.54 weighted GPA at Foothill High School. She will attend U.C. San Diego with a major in Microbiology with a future career as a physician. She was president of the Bioscience Academy, HOSA president, Speech and Debate president, and tennis team captain. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and received the Foothill High School Ruby-level Community Service Award.

Congratulations to all three of these outstanding young women. We applaud their achievements and look forward to their future accomplishments.
