Malcolm McDowell Hosts Sleepy Hollow Radio Drama on KVTA

Actor Malcolm McDowell is the Celebrity Guest Host for Every Now and Then Theatre’s radio drama, “Sleepy Hollow: The Lost Diaries.” FoxSports 1590 KVTA will broadcast the three-time international award-winning thriller pacific times on Friday, October 31, at 11 p.m., and Saturday, November 1 at 6 p.m. Originally broadcast in 2007, the hour-long drama is based upon Washington Irving’s original story about schoolmaster Ichabod Crane’s infamous Halloween encounter with a headless Hessian horseman. This original version offers a surprise twist at the end.

As host for “Sleepy Hollow: The Lost Diaries,” Ojai resident McDowell introduces the show, and at the breaks relates historical background about Halloween, the real Sleepy Hollow, and author Washington Irving. Closing the show, McDowell reveals the countywide cast of top local actors who were allowed only one rehearsal prior to performing at a site known as Bill’s Bar in Camarillo. Many of the show’s sound effects were created there.

After this show’s 2007 premiere broadcast, in 2014 McDowell then played Scrooge for the troupe’s radio dramedy, “Scrooge’s Sanity Hearing.” For that broadcast, McDowell was joined by the troupe’s other former Celeb Hosts Jamie Farr, Jane Seymour and Chris Hillman. That show won 3 international awards. McDowell is cited by many entertainment critics as one of the finest actors of his generation.

“Sleepy Hollow: The Lost Diaries” was scripted for broadcast based on the original story. The cast is Arryck Adams, Lloyd Allen, Jim Barker, Bob Decker, Jim Diderrich, Elaine Fleisher, Shawn W. Lanz, Alex Mastrovito, Ray Mastrovito, David Newcomer, Vanessa Orr, Deidre Parmenter, Penny Puente, Mark Andrew Reyes, Brittany Schaver, Linda Schaver, Jeff Schaver, Linda M. Stiegler, Todd Thayer, Nicholas Viecco, Michael Voll, Ronda Voll, and James Wortman. Sound Designers were Jim Barker, Tom Mueller and Wortman. The copyrighted script and show are by Wortman with Stiegler.

“SLEEPY HOLLOW- The Lost Diaries” radio drama is made possible by local resource donations from New Era Debt Solutions, Stage 6 Productions for onsite engineering, Bill’s Bar for performance space, Barkerductions for equipment, and Fox Sports 1590 AM radio for airtime.

The all-volunteer Every Now and Then Theatre is Ventura County’s select troupe for radio drama broadcasts since 1990. The troupe currently counts 73 awards– 68 international, 4 national, and one local– all for radio drama excellence.
