By the Humane Society of Ventura County –
At the Humane Society of Ventura County (HSVC), our mission extends beyond the walls of the shelter. We are committed to supporting pet owners and their animals wherever they need us. Recently, members of our HSVC Cares and Investigations team partnered with the city of Ventura to provide vital resources for pet owners residing at a local Motel 6.

The partnership began when city officials voiced concerns about an unhoused community and the future of their pets. After learning of the group’s relocation, our team stepped in to ensure the animals received the care they deserved.
During the visit, Humane Officers distributed free wet and dry food to help feed more than 20 animals living onsite. The Investigations team also provided treats and cat litter for feline companions. In our mobile Pet Wellness Clinic, HSVC Cares team members offered free vaccines, dewormer, nail trims and flea treatments. Staff also arranged to return for free spay and neuter surgeries, and many pet owners gratefully accepted, eager to safeguard the long-term health of their companions.

This collaboration underscores the power of partnerships and compassion. By meeting people where they are, HSVC continues to deliver lifesaving services that help keep pets with their families. We are proud to support this community and others like it as we work toward a future where all animals are safe, healthy, and cared for.
