Get Ready California’s Largest Cleanup Day

From 9 am to noon Saturday, September 20th, Californians can help clean the coast by joining the largest volunteer day of the year, Ventura County Coastal Clean Up Day.

Two ways to participate:

1. Pick a cleanup site to volunteer at on September 20 9 am to noon from the map on the site. Gather your supplies (help reduce waste by bringing your own bucket, gloves, water bottle, hat, etc.), print and sign the waiver. Pre-registration is not required!
2. Can’t make it on September 20th? Sweep through your own neighborhood, local park, or trail any day in September on a self-guided cleanup. Use the free CleanSwell data collection app to track and report your cleanup. Find more guidance on neighborhood cleanups at www.vccoastcleanup.org/get-involved.

However you choose to volunteer this year, cleaning our beaches, rivers, and neighborhoods provides a valuable service to the coast and our communities alike.

Ventura County Coastal Cleanup Day 2024, was a great success! 1,162 volunteers participated either on their own or at an event and picked up 12,725 pounds of trash and recyclables. Statewide 46,201 Californians cleared more than 332,861 pounds of trash from 2,055 miles or shorelines and waterways – all in a matter of hours.

Californians continue to show they care deeply about the environment by supporting the cleanup year after year. Over 1.6 million volunteers have removed over 26 million pounds of trash over the past three decades in what has become the largest and one of the longest running annual volunteer events in the state.
