The City of Ventura is inviting residents, business owners and property owners to learn more about its Local Coastal Program (LCP) update and share their input at a community workshop on Saturday, Aug. 29, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Museum of Ventura County, 100 E. Main St.
The free, open-house-style event will give community members an opportunity to learn about Ventura’s coastal planning efforts and provide feedback.
Attendees can:
- View an overview of the Local Coastal Program update.
- Experience a virtual reality visualization of coastal flooding in Ventura.
- Visit interactive stations focused on sea level rise, coastal erosion, beach access and coastal flooding.
- Share input that will help shape the city’s coastal planning efforts.
Ventura’s coastline supports recreation, tourism, the local economy, marine ecosystems and the community’s quality of life. The Local Coastal Program guides how the city manages development, public access and natural resources along the coast.
The city is updating the program to address changing coastal conditions, including sea level rise and coastal hazards, while incorporating current science and community priorities.
Community members who cannot attend the workshop will have additional opportunities to learn about the LCP update and provide feedback as the process continues. More information is available at www.cityofventura.ca.gov/LCP
