City Impact, Inc. celebrated a landmark morning on the Ventura Promenade on Saturday, May 30, as the 16th Annual Beachfront Run drew its largest field in event history. With 1,267 registered runners – a new record – participants of all ages and abilities took to the scenic coastal course in support of City Impact’s mental health, youth outreach, counseling, and family services programs serving more than 500 Ventura County residents annually.
For nearly 30 years, City Impact has provided culturally sensitive counseling, mentorship, and outreach programs for at-promise children, youth, and families throughout Ventura County. The nonprofit’s team of licensed therapists and youth specialists serves a predominantly low-income population, helping strengthen families, improve mental health outcomes, and create opportunities for young people to thrive.
This year’s event attracted runners from throughout Ventura County, including Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, Oxnard, Fillmore, Simi Valley, Santa Paula, Camarillo, and Ventura, as well as participants from San Diego, Carpinteria, Long Beach, Palmdale, Lancaster, Santa Clarita, Santa Maria, Whittier, Santa Barbara, Bakersfield, Sylmar, and Reno, Nevada.
“Every step taken and every dollar raised stays right here in Ventura County—elevating education, bolstering mental health resources, and strengthening families,” said Cynthia Torres, Executive Director of City Impact, who served as master of ceremonies. “We are overwhelmed and grateful for this record-breaking show of community support.”
Saturday’s event featured a Kids 1K Fun Run, a youth art showcase highlighting work created by City Impact participants, live music, a vendor marketplace, and an awards ceremony along the scenic Ventura Promenade. Race announcements were provided by Josh Spiker of Vendurance, the event’s official timing company.
City Impact was recently recognized as one of the Workforce Development Board of Ventura County’s “Best Places to Work 2024,” reflecting its commitment to both the community it serves and the professionals who support its mission.
