Titi

Meet Titi and Peanut! Both were rescued by Myra Linder Bell, who happily admits to spoiling them rotten. Titi is a stunning 11-year-old tomcat with shimmering amber eyes. Peanut, a cockatiel in her 30s, was saved from a dire situation after her elderly owner passed away. The family had planned to release the little bird into the California hillsides rather than care for her. Fortunately, Myra stepped in and saved the day. With a remarkable zest for life, Peanut simply refuses to slow down. Veterinarians say she should have “kicked the bucket” years ago, but she’s still going strong.

Meet Keshi, a beautiful black-and-white “cow cat” adopted by the Borras family from his original owner, who could no longer keep him. Keshi is playful—he loves exploring the neighborhood and chasing cat laser toys. Still a youngster at just four years old, Keshi is a bit of a lazy chonk who will happily nap and do absolutely nothing for hours.

Meet Soleil and Rango!
These two deeply bonded pups were rescued and adopted by the Golden family more than 11 years ago—it was love at first sight. In his younger days, Rango was quite the escape artist, known for scaling six-foot fences and racing through the neighborhood with his frantic humans in hot pursuit. Thankfully, Rango’s sense of adventure mellowed with age. Now, he and Soleil prefer long beach strolls and sunny afternoons lounging by the pool.

Vol. 17, No. 25 – Sept 4 – Sept 17, 2024 – Scamp Club

Meet Izzie Brown! Izzie loves two things in life: eating and sleeping. She’s never known a day of hunger in her life but she’s an obsessive food thief with no shame. She’ll literally swipe the food from your fork before it reaches your mouth—no hesitation, no remorse. Not particularly friendly or affectionate, Izzie enjoys rolling on her back, flaunting her irresistibly plump, fluffy belly to her human family – a ruthless and cunning trap that inevitably ends in tears and Band-Aids.

This is Mischa—a tiny 6lb Russian Blue mix with striking golden eyes and an intense personality. Don’t be deceived by her sweet, fluffy exterior; this little spitfire has a big attitude and a repertoire of throaty growls for anyone bold enough to try petting her, picking her up, or even glancing her way. Despite her antisocial tendencies, she’s adored by her family and tolerated by her feline siblings.

Hi, I’m Poppy! I was rescued from a feral cat colony in 2016 by the amazing Surfcat Cat Rescue. I was heavily pregnant, but a kind woman named Leslie Ann Weiss, who is also the executive director and president of Surfcat Rescue, set me up with a “maternikitty” suite and everything I needed to deliver and nurse my kittens. Due to my very hard start in life, I was understandably not the friendliest kitty, but Leslie managed to get me and my daughter, Izzie, a wonderful forever home together. I quickly became a slightly chonky lap cat. Life is good—thanks, Leslie! Visit www.Surfcatcafe.com to learn how you can help Leslie save more cats like me!

Hi, I’m Loulou! I’m a 4-year-old Great Pyrenees/Shepherd mix, rescued as a puppy from a goat farm in Bakersfield. I enjoy napping, eating, and barking. At my latest vet visit, I weighed in at 116 pounds, but I’m a big-boned gal with exceptionally dense fur, which obviously adds an extra 10 pounds. My family says I’ll be taking longer walks for the next few months to help me tone up and get back to my usual svelte self. See you around the neighborhood!
