Vol. 18, No. 04 – Nov 13 – Nov 26, 2024 – Forever Homes Wanted
Hi, I’m Anubis—named after the Egyptian god. I’m a beautiful 6 1/2-year-old pit bull mix. I was lucky to be taken hiking by a CARL volunteer, and I loved every moment. I rode well in the car, walked nicely on leash, and wasn’t fazed by any of the people or animals we encountered. I’m very sweet and social, always happy to meet new friends. I’m a good walker who doesn’t pull, and I love to sniff along the route. I know commands like “sit,” “paw,” and “lay down.” I’d be thrilled to
find an active home where I can be your one and only. Please consider adopting me!
Hi, I’m Jack—an active 11-year-old rat terrier mix in need of a new home. I’d do best in an adult-only home where I’ll get all the love and attention I crave. I need to be the only dog, as I’m happiest with just my people. I don’t enjoy being left alone all day, and I love sleeping on the
bed with my person. Off-leash isn’t for me, and I’ll wander if a door is left open. Dog parks are also too overwhelming for me. If you have the time, patience, and love to give me the home I need, please consider adopting me.
Hi, I’m Raya—a beautiful almost 3-yearold Siberian husky. I’m incredibly affectionate and loyal, with lots of love to give. I’m great with kids and other dogs, but cats are a no-go. Since I experience separation anxiety, I’d thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time. I
was working on crate training with my previous owners, but I need a little patience and positive reinforcement to get comfortable with it. I’m a good-natured girl with a positive outlook, just looking for someone to give me lots of love and attention.
Hi, I’m Sonora—a joyful and entertaining 2-year-old mix of Rottweiler, Doberman pinscher, Chihuahua, boxer, Great Dane, pit bull, and Peruvian Inca orchid (DNA tested!). I love running around, cuddling, and playing. love going on walks, though I can be reactive to triggers on leash. A dog sibling would be wonderful, but they’ll need to handle my energy level. I need a yard with
at least a 6-foot fence and am not suited for apartment life. I might be okay with cats.
Please come meet me!

Vol. 18, No. 03 – Oct 30 – Nov 12, 2024 – Forever Homes Wanted
Hi, I’m Pippa, the most adorable 6-month-old Labrador/German Shepherd mix puppy you’ll ever meet! I’m friendly, playful, and full of energy. I love exploring and making new friends. I’m still working on my leash training so I can grow up to be a big girl who walks nicely. If you’re looking for a loving, playful, and adorable puppy, look no further—I’m your new best friend! Because I’m still a puppy, children in my new home should be at least six years old. I need lots of love, patience, and attention. Everyone thinks I’m cute, but please be sure you’re ready for a puppy, as it’s like having a newborn (the two-legged kind). This is a lifetime commitment, not a temporary one that fades as I grow up.
Hi, I’m Shef, a strong and incredibly handsome 7-year-old Pit Bull mix. I was rescued from a shelter just in time, and I’m so grateful for a second chance at finding my forever home. I could use some leash training, but I’m a quick learner and eager to please. I love adventures and walks, so I need a home where I can get plenty of exercise. I may do best as the only dog in the household, though since coming to CARL, I’ve shown no issues with other dogs. At the shelter, they thought I wasn’t good with other dogs, but I only reacted defensively when another dog aggressively charged at me. It’s unknown how I’d do with children or cats.
Hi, I’m Gunner, a 5-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix who needs a new home because of something called “divorce.” I don’t know what that means, but I know I need a new place to call home. I’m good with other dogs and even cats, though I might chase a cat to play. I’m active and good with older children, but I’m not a match for younger kids. I love chasing tennis balls and going for walks. I need people to go slowly with me, giving me time to settle into my new home. Too much petting and attention all at once can overwhelm me, so a gentle approach is best.
Hi, I’m Aurora, a beautiful 6-year-old Boxer/Pit Bull mix. I was rescued from a shelter while giving birth. While I may not be the best with other dogs or cats, I make up for it with my love for people—who knows, I may even give you a kiss! I’ve won over the hearts of CARL staff and volunteers, and I’m sure to win yours too. I’m a great walker and stay calm on the leash. I know I’ll love every adventure we share, and I have so much love to give. I hope to find my forever home very soon.

Vol. 18, No. 02 – Oct 16 – Oct 29, 2024 – Forever Homes Wanted
Hi, I’m Santi, an active 1-year, 4-month-old Boxer mix in need of a new home. The other dog in my current home wasn’t too happy with me staying. I’m affectionate, playful, and outgoing. I get along with other dogs, but no cats, please. I respond when called and can sit on command, but I still need some work on leash training. I love being around people and don’t enjoy being left alone. Tennis balls are my favorite! I’m energetic and sometimes bark or jump when I’m excited. I can’t wait to become a cherished member of a loving family.
Hi, I’m Farrah, a beautiful 2-year-old American/European Doberman Pinscher. I’m looking for a new home because my former family could no longer give me the care I need. I love running, playing, and I get along with other dogs and cats. While I’m good with older children, I’d do best in an adult-only home. I need an experienced, active owner and a house with a big backyard. I can be hyper, stubborn, and jumpy (I can clear baby gates!), but most of all, I’m lovable. I’ll need a patient person who can help me work on my digging, barking, and play-nipping habits.
Hi, I’m Rudy, an outgoing 6-year-old Pit Bull mix in search of a forever home. I was found on the freeway, and since no one came to claim me, I’m now available for adoption. I’m active and super friendly! I do need some leash training because I get a little too excited when I’m out and about. Come meet me and see what a great guy I am!Forever Hones Wanted
Hi, I’m Mustard, an active 2-year-old Pit Bull mix looking for a forever home. I was rescued from a shelter, and I’m so grateful for the chance to find my new family. I’m selective with other dogs, so if you already have a fur baby, please bring them along for a meet-and-greet. It’s unknown how I would do with children or cats. I know my breed sometimes gets a bad rap, but I hope you’ll meet me and see for yourself!

Vol. 18, No. 01 – Oct 2 – Oct 15, 2024 – Forever Homes Wanted
Hi, I’m Ruger! I’m a handsome, almost 6-year-old Husky/Shepherd mix with the cutest ears. I came to CARL when my owner had to move to an assisted living facility and could no longer care for me. I’m a good walker and would thrive in an active home. I love hanging out with my people and greeting new friends with my adorable smile. While I’ve been great with the children I’ve met, I’d prefer a home without feline friends. I’m used to being with my retired owner and having companionship most of the time. I’m hoping for a second chance with a loving home where I can have just that.
Hi, I’m Cannoli! I’m a 4 1/2-year-old American Bulldog/Pit Bull mix waiting for someone to give me a loving home where I can feel safe and protected. I’m a true survivor, having been taken to a Riverside shelter after being attacked by another dog. You can see a short video on my profile at CarlDogs.org, where I interact with another dog and a cat. It’s unknown how I’d do with children, but I have plenty of energy and need an active owner who can keep up with my playful spirit. If you’re looking for a fun, furry companion, please submit an online application to meet me. I can’t wait to find my forever home!
Hi, I’m Chunk! I’m an active Pit Bull/Labrador mix, just over 2 years old, and I’m searching for my forever home. I’m making great progress with my training and already know how to sit, lie down, and shake. I’m also crate-trained and walk well on a leash. I’m lucky enough to be in a foster home where I have a dog playmate, but any home with another fur baby will need to work on slow introductions with me. Despite my name, I’m an active boy who loves to play fetch and go on walks or runs. If you’re looking for a young, energetic, and loving dog, say hello to me!
Hi, I’m Smiley! I’m a 2 1/2-year-old Golden Retriever mix, rescued from a shelter in Salinas where I was found as a stray. I love toys and am very treat-motivated. I’m sweet when meeting new people, but since I’m a big boy and tend to jump a bit, I’d likely do best in a home with older or bigger kids. I don’t really react to other dogs, and I can walk in tandem with them, but I can be a bit testy in playgroups, so as a precaution, I wear a muzzle. I hope it won’t be long before I become a cherished member of a loving family.

Vol. 17, No. 26 – Sept 18 – Oct 1, 2024 – Forever Homes Wanted
Hi, I’m Louie, a very playful 1-year-8-month-old Terrier mix rescued from a shelter just before my time was up. I was adopted but proved to be too much for my previous family. I’m good with other dogs and cats. I would benefit from having another dog to play with and an active family that can give me the attention I need. I’m friendly, love going for walks, and enjoy playing fetch. I do well in playgroups and like playing with other dogs. Since I was too much for smaller children, I would do best in a home with older, larger children. Please consider me if you’re looking for a new furry family member.
Hi, I’m Paxton, a friendly 9-month-old Terrier mix rescued from Kern County. I’m grateful to my sponsors who helped me join CARL’s adoption program. As you can see, I’m a three-legged pup; my front right leg was amputated. While some might see this as a flaw, I believe it makes me special. I’m still an active puppy and eager to spend my future full of love and adventures with someone special. Since I’m a puppy, children in the home should be at least 6 years old. I’m cute, but please ensure you’re ready for the commitment a puppy requires—similar to having a newborn (of the two-legged variety) in the home. It’s a lifelong commitment, not a temporary one where love and attention might fade as I grow.
Hi, I’m Finn, a gentle giant Cane Corso/Presa Canario with lots of love to give! I’m almost 7 years old, a very mellow and well-mannered boy who walks well on a leash and listens to commands. I’ve experienced many changes recently, having been abandoned at the kennel. It’s not yet known how I interact with other dogs, as I haven’t participated in playgroups. My compatibility with children or cats is also unknown. I have a heart of gold and will make a great addition to your family.
Hi, I’m Ramen, a handsome 2½-year-old Husky/Shepherd mix in need of a new home after my owner sadly passed away. I have a playful personality and enjoy socializing with other dogs during playtime at the kennel. I’m a great walker on a leash and would make an excellent companion for many adventures together.

Vol. 17, No. 25 – Sept 4 – Sept 17, 2024 – Forever Homes Wanted
Hi, I’m Anubis! I’m a beautiful 6-year-old Pit Bull mix, named after the Egyptian god. I’m great on a leash and not fazed by any people or animals I meet while hiking. I think I’d make a fantastic adventure buddy! I’m very sweet and social with people, always excited to see a friendly face and make new friends. Volunteers say I’m a great walker who doesn’t pull and loves to sniff around the walking route—though I can’t resist chasing a lizard or two! I know commands like “sit,” “paw,” and “lay down.” I’m looking for an active home where I can be your one and only. Please consider adopting me!
Hi, I’m Aries! I’m a friendly, 3-year-old Pit Bull mix in search of a new home. I was left behind at a relative’s house, and they can’t keep me. I’m a big, active boy who loves playing fetch and cooling off in the kiddie pools at the kennel. I’m a lap dog if you let me and love giving and receiving affection. I’m good with older children, but I’m not sure how I’d do with younger ones. I enjoy playing with other dogs and do well in playgroups with other active pups. I’m also good on pack walks. My experience with cats is unknown, and I don’t love being left alone for long periods. While I know some basic commands, I could use a bit of work on my leash training. Come meet me and see what a great guy I am—I’m such a good boy that the vet had to take a picture with me during my checkup! She said I was amazing!
Hi, I’m Guero! I’m a big, strong, and active Labrador-Pit Bull mix, almost 4 years old. I’m looking for a new home because my owner thinks I’d do better in a household without small children, although I did live with a 5-year-old and did just fine. I love to run, so I might make a great running buddy. I play well with other dogs and do great on pack walks with the volunteers. I haven’t been around cats, but I got along well with birds, rabbits, and a hamster in my previous home. I ride well in the car and love affection and being around my people. I don’t enjoy being left alone, so I’d need someone who rarely leaves me or can take me along. I know “sit” and “paw” and will sit nicely for treats, but I could use some leash training, as I tend to pull. Training in general would benefit me.
Hi, I’m Leche! I’m a 6-year-old mix of mostly Boxer, Siberian Husky, and German Shepherd. I was found as a stray with an injured front leg, but I’ve since had surgery, and now I’m ready for my forever home. I’d do best in a home with older children or adults and as the only dog. I need lots of physical and mental stimulation—I love car rides, running, walking, and, most of all, snuggling! If you’re looking for a sweet shadow, that’s me! I’ll follow you to the end of time.

Vol. 17, No. 24 – Aug 21 – Sept 3, 2024 – Forever Homes Wanted
Hi, I’m Udon, a handsome 2-year-old Husky/Shepherd mix in need of a new home after my owner sadly passed away. I have a brother named Ramen—we look alike, but you can tell us apart because my left eye is brown, and my right eye is blue, while both of Ramen’s eyes are brown. I’m great around people, children, and other dogs. I know how to sit, give you my paw, and take treats very gently. I walk well on a leash and do fine in a crate during car rides. I need sturdy fencing, as I can get over a 4-foot fence when I’m bored or lonely. My favorite things are being with my person, playing with toys, cuddling, and getting belly rubs. A CARL volunteer describes my energy level as calm and confident.
Hi, I’m Otis, a very sweet and loving 3-year-old Shepherd mix who was found as a stray. No one came to claim me, so I’m now waiting for my forever family to take me home. I love people and older children. I walk great on a leash and do well in playgroups with other dogs during pack walks. I can be a little reactive to other dogs on the way out of the kennel, but I might be okay with another dog at home if we’re well matched. If you already have a fur baby, please bring them along for a meet and greet.
Hi, I’m Burtha, an energetic 3-year-old Chihuahua mix rescued from a high-kill shelter where I was found as a stray. Once I get to know you, I love to be held and stay close to my person. The best home for me would be an adult-only household where I’d be showered with love and attention. I need daily exercise and enjoy my version of fetch—sometimes, I even bring the toy back to be thrown again! I like car rides too. I’ll try to dart out open doors at home, so care needs to be taken when opening doors if I’m around. I can jump onto countertops, so be mindful to keep things I shouldn’t eat out of reach. I will sit and stay for a treat, but I do need leash training.
Hi, I’m Gwen, an affectionate nearly 2-year-old Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix in need of a new home due to landlord rules. I’m mostly white with tan speckles on my ears and a little tan around both eyes, which I think makes me look very cute. I’m super friendly, love to play, enjoy pup cups, car rides, running, and taking naps. I’m used to sleeping in bed with my owner, so I hope you’ll let me do that too. I’m good with little dogs, but I’m not so sure about big dogs. I haven’t been around many children, but I’ve been okay with the few I’ve met. I’ve never been around cats.

Vol. 17, No. 23 – Aug 7 – Aug 20, 2024 – Forever Homes Wanted
Hi, I’m Winchester, a playful and outgoing 9-year-old Pit Bull mix who enjoys hanging out with my people. I love going on hikes, playing with hard chew toys, and getting lots of exercise. I’ve joined playgroups, and while I mostly keep to myself, I do have playful moments with other four-legged friends. I ride nicely in the car, enjoy sunbathing, and would do just about anything for a treat! I’ve worked with a trainer and know my basic commands. I walk well on a leash. I’m eager to please and want to be with my people.
Hi, I’m Luna 7, a stunning 3 1/2-year-old Shepherd mix in need of a new home because I have a high prey drive and I’m not good around farm animals. I’m a water-loving, tennis ball-chasing, playful gal who enjoys making friends in playgroups each week. In my last home, I did well with large dogs and loved every adult human stranger I met. It’s unknown how I’d do with children, but I’d probably do best in a home with older kids. I need someone who is active and understands the needs of a high-energy dog breed.
Hi, I’m Gidget, an active 2-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix. I love belly rubs and getting lots of love and attention. I absolutely love to run around in playgroups and always try to entice others to play with me. My breed is known for being highly intelligent and energetic, and we are really happy when on the job. Therefore, training and participation in activities such as obedience, herding, or agility are highly recommended.
Hi, I’m Kade, a handsome 5 1/2-year-old Pit Bull mix rescued from an LA shelter where I was on borrowed time. I need time to get to know you before I warm up. I’ll need a patient person who will take the time to get to know me and allow me to get to know them. Volunteers say I’m the easiest dog to walk. I’ve been in playgroups and although I don’t initiate play very often, I’m fine hanging around other calm dogs. I’m a loving boy, but I’m still timid with my surroundings. I’ve been fortunate to have gone on offsite outings with some of my favorite volunteers, and I’m learning to be more confident.

Vol. 17, No. 22 – July 24 – Aug 6, 2024 – Forever Homes Wanted
Abby and Salem
Hi, we’re Abby and Salem, 2-month-old female Rottweiler/Shepherd mix puppies in need of a home. We were found at the beach by a previous CARL adopter who reached out to CARL to help place us. Since we’re just puppies, children in the home must be at least 6 years old. We know we’re cute and everyone will want us, but please be sure you’re ready to take on a puppy, as it’s similar to having a newborn (the 2-legged kind) in the home. It’s a lifetime commitment, not a temporary one where the love and attention wear off after we’ve grown.
Addy
Hi, I’m Addy, a beautiful 2-year-old Chow in need of a new home. I’m social, playful, and love to play with toys. I enjoy interacting with other dogs in playgroups at the kennel and when volunteers take us out for pack walks. I walk great on a leash and I like to snuggle up against my person.
Pretty
Hi, I’m Pretty, a happy 3-year-old Pug/Pit Bull mix, in need of a new home as my adopter no longer has time for me. I’m an outgoing, friendly girl who would love nothing more than to be your best friend. It’s unknown if I’d get along with other dogs or young children. I am good with older children. Unless your cat would enjoy a game of chase with a dog, a home with no cats is probably better for me.
Panther
Hi, I’m Panther, an almost 6-year-old shy Cane Corso in need of a new home as my owner could no longer keep me. Thankfully, my owner’s friend took me in so I didn’t have to go to the shelter but can’t permanently keep me and is working with CARL to help me find my forever home. I’m a big boy who gets along with other large dogs and is good with adults and older children. It’s unknown if I’d get along with cats. I’m affectionate and playful and even think I’m a lap dog. I enjoy walks, playing, and being with my people. I whimper and sometimes bark when left alone. I will go exploring if a door gets left open. I’m terrified of fireworks and will need some type of distraction to help keep me calm.
If you have room in your heart and home for any of these amazing animals, please fill out an online application with Canine Adoption and Rescue League (CARL): www.carldogs.org/adopt/application or call 805.644.7387.
