CAPS Media Highlights Fire Academy Class 63

CAPS Media has collaborated with the Ventura County Fire Department for over 15 years! This past year was our first time experiencing the Training Academy’s 63rd Cohort. We want to congratulate all the graduating cadets that received their badges and station assignments this past June.

CAPS was tasked with creating a short film, highlighting all aspects of training that are involved in becoming a Ventura County Firefighter. Our crew began production in January of this year at the brand new, ultramodern, fire training facilities located at the Camarillo Airport. The newly enrolled cadets started their first day at 0500 with a demonstration of the new facility by seasoned VCFD Firefighters.

Over the course of 6 months, the CAPS Crew documented the cadets receiving training in ladders, hoses, automobile extrication, hazardous materials, wild-land firefighting, combined operations, active shooter training with the Ventura County Sheriffs Department and much more. Our crew used the latest in camera and drone technology to intimately capture the blood, sweat, and tears that go into becoming firefighters.

CAPS also wants to wish the community a Happy 250th Birthday and a Happy July 4th! The City of Ventura pulled out all the stops to celebrate our big birthday by organizing a week of fun free festivities for the whole family. CAPS Crews were on site to capture all the smiles, hot rods, pool parties, beach clean ups, fireworks and of course the Pushem-Pullem Parade and Street Fair.

There is still space available in our annual Future Filmmakers program with the Live Action Video program beginning July 13 and the Stop-Action Animation program beginning July 27th for filmmakers ages 9-14. Go to capsmedia.org to register. Snacks, a cool T-shirt and a special screening for family and friends included.
