Standout Double Header to Celebrate NAMBA’s Ten Year Anniversary

Celebrate ten years of performance, passion, and purpose – one standing ovation at a time at Namba Performing Arts Space in Historic Downtown Ventura. Friday, August 15 at 7:00 pm, kicks off the Emerging Playwrights’ SPLASH Festival with two standout, unforgettable performance shorts, “15th Century Ballerina” and “Reservoir Dolls.” Chosen from this year’s Hollywood Fringe Festival, these two performances are sure to surprise, tickle and amuse.
An elegant and absurd comedy featuring ballet, live cello and immersive theatre, 15th Century Ballerina follows an orphan at the French Royal Court who must learn to smile for her 21st century ballet audition. Written by Caroline O’Meara and directed by Joan Lynch.
What happens when a barefoot call girl realizes she’s in Quentin Tarantino’s tenth movie? She runs. Fast. But standing in her way are all the femme fatales who came before her. Reservoir Dolls is a razor-sharp solo comedy show about what it takes to survive in a man’s world, written and performed by Lani Harms and directed by Laurie Magers.

Now in its 5th year, NAMBA’s Emerging Playwrights’ SPLASH Festival continues its tradition of showcasing emerging theatrical voices. This year, a panel of NAMBA Committee members reviewed over 65 performances at the 2025 Hollywood Fringe Festival to select this season’s standouts. The result is a curated series of exceptional performances that will run September 20, 27 & 28, October 4, 11, 18 at Namba Performing Arts Space in Historic Downtown Ventura.
This milestone season also marks NAMBA’s 10th Anniversary – a decade of inspiring performances, bold new works, and dedicated community building. In honor of this occasion, we pay tribute to Julia Campbell Namba whose vision and generosity laid the foundation for NAMBA’s growing legacy.
