Opera Santa Barbara will return to the Ojai Library to present a Free Noontime Opera Concert on Tuesday, October 8, 2019. The concert will begin at 12 pm in the main room of the library.

The Opera Santa Barbara Studio Artists will perform a selection of popular opera arias and duets as well as some musical theatre pieces, all accompanied by piano.

Local Ventura author Tony Baker will visit the Ojai Library at 1 pm on Saturday, October 5, 2019, to talk about his book, Southern California Road Racing.

Southern California Road Racing goes back to when the best cars Europe had to offer competed with homebuilt specials over world-famous road courses like Laguna Seca, Willow, Glen Helen, and Riverside International. Whether discovering the profile of a historic racing personality or viewing dramatic images of racing action, Tony Baker’s newest book is sure to take readers back to the glory days of road racing.

Baker is a historian and researcher who has authored numerous magazine articles and books about regional motor sports history, including five previous titles for Arcadia Publishing’s Images of America series. He lives and works in Ventura County, California.

The Ojai Library is located at 111 East Ojai Avenue in Ojai, CA. Hours of service are 10am to 8pm Monday through Thursday and 12pm to 5pm Friday through Sunday.

Dr. James Adams of USC School of Pharmacy and plant educator Enrique Villaseñor will join Ojai herbalist Lanny Kaufer on Saturday, September 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a Fall Medicinal Plant Workshop focused on Dr. Adams’ groundbreaking pharmacological studies on medicinal uses of California’s native plants.

The plant identification session will take place at two native plant gardens where Kaufer and Dr. Adams will identify a wide variety of useful plants. The afternoon hands-on preparation session will be held at a community kitchen in Ojai.

Ojai Raptor Center, (ORC) a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization is dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of injured, sick and orphaned wildlife and to educating the community on how to be more responsible stewards for our shared environment.

On Sunday November 3rd, 2019, from 12pm to 4 pm, ORC will open its doors to the public for a rare opportunity to meet the non-releasable Ambassador raptors, and tour the Center which is home to the largest flight aviary in CA. The Center is otherwise closed to the public year-round due to the sensitive nature of wildlife in rehabilitation.

Hawks, falcons, and owls will be on hand to greet guests along with stage presentations the entire afternoon. As always there will be a variety of fun activities for children, a silent auction, and a chance to release a raptor with ORC staff. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase as well as items from the Raptor Store.
