This summer CAPS’ popular Future Filmmakers Workshops returns with two captivating week-long programs for students ages 10-14. Session I: Live Action Video Workshop will be held July 14-18, and Session II: Stop Motion Animation Workshop will be held July 28-August 1. Guided by CAPS engaging, and experienced videographers and storytellers, the summer camp enthusiastic crews collaborate in teams of four or five to create their own video productions. The fast paced and engaging creative programs features hands-on, experiential learning in all aspects of media storytelling including story development, scripting, casting, staging, directing, camera training with HD camcorders and smartphones, video composition, lighting, remote and in-studio production, graphic design, editing and more.
Each weeklong session runs Monday – Friday, from 8:30am to 1:00pm and will be held at the CAPS Media Center at 65 Day Road in Ventura, between Loma Vista and Telegraph, on the eastside of Ventura College. The program fee is $250 for the week and includes 5, 4-hour sessions, a one-year family membership at CAPS, a CAPS Crew Member shirt, graduation certificate and a special evening film festival for friends and family.
There’s more youthful creativity in store this summer when the KPPQ CAPS Radio Crew launches the POD Save the Summer Podcasting Workshop for high school students. The weeklong session runs Monday – Friday June 23 – 27, from 9:30am to 2:00pm and will be held in the KPPQ studio at the CAPS Media Center. Following on the successful and fun filled morning of CAPS’ coverage of the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade, the team is preparing for multiple days of recording and live streaming graduation ceremonies for Ventura College and all of the VUSD High Schools graduates. The CAPS production crew includes experienced professionals on the CAPS staff mentoring high school students in the award-winning Career and Technical Education (CTE) program ECTV, developed by CAPS in collaboration with VUSD.
