Ventura’s Earth Day Festival Returns for Third Year

The City of Ventura’s Earth Day Festival will return for its third year on Saturday, April 18 from 11 am to 4 pm at Plaza Park. The MERITO Foundation hosts the event in partnership with the City of Ventura’s Environmental Sustainability Division, in collaboration with EV Advocates of Ventura County and Downtown Ventura Partners.

“Events like the Earth Day Festival provide a valuable opportunity for the community to learn about local sustainability programs and resources,” said Public Works Director Charlie Ebeling. “We are proud to support this event as a way for residents to explore and engage with sustainability efforts in Ventura.”

This free, family-friendly event will feature more than 50 exhibitors, including government agencies, nonprofit organizations, utility providers, sustainable businesses, and outdoor recreation groups. Attendees can learn about local sustainability initiatives, clean energy, conservation programs, and environmentally responsible practices. This year’s theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” highlights the role of community involvement, local initiatives, and partnerships in supporting renewable energy and environmental stewardship.

The event will open with cultural and musical performances, followed by remarks from Ventura Mayor and keynote speaker Jeannette Sánchez-Palacios. Additional cultural and music performances will take place throughout the afternoon. A full program itinerary will be available on the event website.

Festival activities will include an electric vehicle showcase featuring more than 25 vehicles from residents, businesses, and public agencies. Representatives from EV Advocates of Ventura County will share information about electric vehicle technology and adoption. A Kids’ Zone, led by Patagonia’s Great Pacific Child Development Center and other organizations, will offer interactive activities focused on sustainability and environmental education. Free bike valet parking will also be available for attendees arriving by bicycle.

Festival volunteers can support the City of Ventura’s Zero Waste Ambassador Program by helping attendees sort compost, recycling, and landfill waste. Shifts run from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with training provided by the Environmental Sustainability Division.

Community sponsors support the event, including the Port of Hueneme, Montecito Bank & Trust, and additional local partners. Food vendors will also be onsite offering a variety of meal options.

Attendees are encouraged to carpool, bike, or use public transportation when traveling to the event. Public parking is available near Plaza Park, including a parking lot on Santa Clara Street.
