The Ventura College Foundation is accepting scholarship applications for the 2027–28 school year. The application deadline for students in the Paramedic and Career Education programs is November 23, with scholarship decisions expected by mid-December. The deadline for all other scholarships is January 22, 2027, with students notified of results by mid-April. Scholarship awards will be distributed beginning August 1.
Students currently enrolled at Ventura College during the 2026–27 academic year who have completed, or are on track to complete, at least six units during the semester are eligible to apply. Units earned during previous semesters at Ventura College also count toward the requirement.
“Education costs should not prevent students from attending college,” said Anne Paul King, Ventura College Foundation executive director. “Scholarships can often make the difference between a student being able to afford college and not. Our scholarships can be especially helpful for students transferring to a four-year college, allowing them to offset university expenses.”
Most scholarships are open to students in any field of study, while others support specific majors, including engineering, environmental science, computer science, health care, nursing, business, and education. Phoenix scholarships support nontraditional students, including active-duty military personnel and veterans who are returning to college after a break in their education.
The foundation awarded a record $1,037,741 through 537 scholarships during the last academic year. Funding comes from annual contributions and scholarship endowments from the Ventura College Foundation board of directors, donors, and corporate partners.
“Many of our generous donors are Ventura College alumni,” King said. “They know that investing in the education of students today will have a powerful impact for years to come—not only for students and their careers, but for our workforce and communities.”
The foundation encourages students to attend one-hour on-campus or virtual workshops that explain the application process. Workshops begin September 23 and continue through early January. Students with questions can also visit the Ventura College Foundation office on campus Wednesdays from 2:30 to 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
