Project Love Spreads Valentine’s Joy to Seniors

By Carol Leish –

Project Love is an annual community outreach campaign led by Assisted Home Health & Hospice that brings encouragement, connection and joy to seniors through heartfelt messages created by local students. Each year, Assisted partners with schools and senior living communities to deliver handmade Valentine’s Day cards and notes, reminding seniors they are valued, seen and loved.

“Many of these seniors are limited in their ability to celebrate holidays as they once did,” said Natallie Uribe, a hospice care specialist at Assisted Home Health & Hospice in Ventura. “We saw an opportunity to bridge the generational gap by having local kids in our community handcraft valentines for seniors in assisted living communities. Receiving handmade valentines brings inclusion into their lives and spreads love throughout the community.

“The kids involved in the program also experience a sense of joy and accomplishment by spreading kindness to our senior community,” Uribe added. “The program aligns perfectly with Assisted Home Health & Hospice’s motto: ‘Hands to Help, Hearts to Care.’”

The cards include affirming messages such as “Happy Valentine’s Day,” “You are loved,” and “Sending smiles and kindness.”

Project Love was created to address the loneliness and isolation many seniors experience, particularly those living in care facilities or managing health challenges. The campaign creates a meaningful bridge between generations, helping seniors feel connected to their communities while teaching students the power of empathy and kindness.

“Each year, Project Love reaches more schools and more senior communities,” Uribe said. “We’re committed to growing this effort annually so it can touch more lives throughout our service areas. It’s more important than ever to choose kindness. Project Love is a simple way to spread love and joy and reflects who we are as an organization.”

The campaign takes place across all Assisted service areas, with six offices in California, serving communities from Santa Barbara County to Los Angeles County, and one office in Arizona covering Maricopa and Pinal counties. Let’s continue spreading love and joy throughout the year.
