Mark Your Calendar for the 2025 Ventura Strawberry Festival, May 17-18

By Patricia Schallert –

The family-friendly event brings together fresh strawberries, mouthwatering strawberry-themed treats, live entertainment, and a wide array of vendors showcasing local crafts and products. With activities for all ages – including rides, games, and contests – the festival promises to be a joyful gathering for our community and a vibrant tribute to the berry harvest season! While strawberries are grown year-round, the official season kicks off in the Oxnard and Ventura areas. Last year, these regions produced an impressive 48 million trays of strawberries, nearing the record set in 2012. This remarkable output surpasses that of any other state in the country and comes close to the production levels seen in Mexico. Known for their large size, brilliant red color, and delightful sweetness, these strawberries truly stand out.

The Ventura Strawberry Festival began in 1983 to celebrate the local strawberry harvest and promote Ventura County’s thriving strawberry industry, renowned for its rich agricultural heritage. Over the years, it has transformed into a major community celebration, offering attractions such as live music, arts and crafts, food vendors, and strawberry-themed activities. Today, the festival draws thousands of visitors each year, showcasing both strawberries and the local culture and community spirit.

Attendees are encouraged to utilize public transportation this year due to ongoing construction in the fairground parking area. Shuttle buses will be available from Simi Valley, Camarillo, Oxnard High School, Ventura High School, DeAnza Middle School, and the Government Center. Additionally, parking and shuttle services will be provided at Buenaventura State Beach, along with the dirt lot at Seaward and Harbor Blvd. The Ventura Fairgrounds can also be accessed by Metrolink and Amtrak, with stops scheduled throughout the festival. Shuttle services will run from 9 AM to 8 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Attendees are also welcome to walk or bike, with free valet bike parking readily available.

The strawberry experience will undoubtedly be a highlight, featuring beloved activities like making your own strawberry shortcake. In addition, the family fun area will offer children the chance to engage in exciting science activities, enjoy rides, and partake in diverse entertainment options. With conveniently located food tents and seating throughout the family funzone, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at this cherished event. A heartfelt gratitude to the all-volunteer Board of Directors. Each member dedicates their time and talents—whether they are professionals from various industries or retirees committed to the festival’s success. Some have been on the Board for decades, while others are new additions, but they all share a common passion: the festival is close to their hearts and truly a labor of love.
