By Ventura Breeze Staff –
In times of stress, we all need something to comfort us. As children we had a special toy or blanket or some other item that helped us through difficult situations. We’re no different as adults. We still need something to hold on to when we are hurt or upset or in pain.
That’s where the CMH Auxiliary sewing group excels. They spend many Tuesday afternoons making stuffed animals for patients where comfort is needed. They make pillows, toys, and scent pads for the NICU. They provide port pillows for the Cancer Center to ease the pressure of a seat belt, and small pillows to make patients in the Infusion Center more comfortable. They deliver toys and pillows to the Emergency Department, Same Day Surgery, GI Lab, Maternity, Breast Center, Outpatient Radiology, and the Critical Care Unit.
For the month of December, they provided 150 large red Christmas stockings for newborns – big enough to hold the baby or to hang up for Santa to fill. A special treat for new parents and one more service the CMH Auxiliary provides to the community.
