Sips & Sustainability: Topa Topa Brewing Co
Join us on July 23 for the next program in a fun series benefiting Ventura Land Trust! This special evening will feature an inside look at the sustainability practices behind the craft at Topa Topa Brewing Company, paired with tastings of fresh, local beer brewed by Topa Topa.
You’ll also enjoy a sneak peek into the inner workings of Ventura Land Trust, with a special presentation by Field Manager Quill Yates about trails and the processes that go into planning, building, and maintaining trails on VLT properties. Inspired by the artwork for Chief Peak, Topa Topa’s most popular beer (and founder Jack Dyer’s favorite!), this talk will help preserve visitors better understand the thinking and labor that go into creating and maintaining your favorite places to hike and cycle.
Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed with a choice of Topa Topa brews and light bites. You’ll also hear a short talk focused on the trails found within Ventura Land Trust preserves.
From there, we’ll head behind the scenes for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of Topa Topa’s brewing facility with founder Jack Dyer. Learn how Topa Topa’s stellar beers are crafted, how sustainability practices are interwoven with their ethos and practices, and enjoy a “bright tank” tasting of freshly-brewed beer (this is beer that has just completed the brewing process and has not been packaged into cans or kegs yet – a truly unique opportunity! A bright tank tasting involves sampling beer directly from the pressurized, cooled vessel where it is clarified, carbonated, and matured before packaging. This allows brewers and enthusiasts to taste the final product in its cleanest, freshest form, often showcasing crisp, carbonated flavors. Rarely available to the public, these tastings offer a behind-the-scenes look at the brewing process, often highlighting the contrast between the raw fermented beer and the polished, carbonated final product.)
Participants will also go home with a 4-pack of 16-ounce Mountain Cats, a collaboration with Topa’s pals at Highland Park Brewing—a special, limited-edition collaboration—perfect for taking a taste of the evening home with you.
Come learn about one of our great local breweries and their commitment to sustainability, learn about VLT’s sustainable trails, discover new favorite brews, and support your local land trust at the same time. Cheers to conservation, craft, and fundraising!
