Celebrate Bike Month

May is National Bike Month, and the City of Ventura is making it a celebration for the whole community. Whether you’re a daily commuter, a weekend rider, or just getting started, there’s something for you. The goal is to have more residents connected to their neighborhood and discovering the cycling resources already around them.

Explore Ventura’s bike and pedestrian network and active transportation options during Bike Month and beyond.

This year’s campaign is built around three things:

  • Wayfinding: The city has created a new map highlighting Ventura’s bike and pedestrian network, including lanes, paths, routes, and local bike shops, so wherever you’re headed, you can easily find the best way to get there by bike, on foot, or rolling.
  • Bike shops: Shops across Ventura are featured on the map and serving as community hubs throughout May. Stop in, pick up a free goody bag, and get to know the people in your cycling community. No purchase necessary.
  • Community and connection: Join our City of Ventura Strava group to ride alongside your neighbors, share your routes, and stay motivated all month long.

The Safe Routes to School Action plan supports safer, healthier ways for students and families to travel to and from school. Through a combination of education, encouragement, and infrastructure improvements, this promotes walking, biking, and rolling as safe and convenient transportation options. Here’s how to take part in the Bike Month Challenge:

Enter the Raffle: Find your neighborhood’s bike shop, stop in during May, pick up a goody bag (while supplies last) and fill out the raffle entry form. One lucky Ventura rider wins a bike donated by Trek. No goody bags left? No problem, you can still visit your local bike shop, take a photo from your ride or shop visit, and enter the raffle. No digital devices? Drop off a paper entry form at City of Ventura Transportation Division

Join the City of Ventura: Let’s Get Moving’s Stave Club to log your rides, connect with other Ventura cyclists, and be part of the community all year long.

Follow Along: New posts every Friday in May with routes, safety tips, and community highlights. Follow @CityofVentura on Instagram and Facebook to stay in the loop.
