Buena High School Sweeps Top Honors at 30th Annual Battle of the Bands

Buena High School’s marching band delivered a dominating performance at the 30th Annual Battle of the Bands, one of Southern California’s premier marching band competitions. The event, hosted by Moorpark High School on Saturday, October 18, brought together 27 high school bands from across the region – some traveling more than three hours to compete.

In a day filled with energy, precision, and musical excellence, Buena stood out as a clear leader, capturing top awards in multiple categories within their division:

  • 1st Place Overall – Division Winner
  • 1st Place in Percussion
  • 1st Place in Auxiliary (Flag Team)

Buena’s Sweepstakes Percussion award was especially notable, earning the highest percussion score of the entire bracket.

Director of Music Tim MacDonald credited the band’s success to a shared sense of dedication and pride; “Buena is looking really strong this year because we’ve built a culture around commitment and musical excellence, and they’re all in. We’re currently second in our division for all of Southern California, but they’ll keep working. We’ve got a great coaching staff, solid support from the administration, and we all love this band, so we’ll push them as far as they can go.”
