The Ventura Strawberry Festival, an annual extravaganza held at the Ventura County Fairgrounds, took place on May 17 and 18, drawing in guests from as far as Las Vegas, Bakersfield, Santa Barbara and San Diego — apparently, everyone wanted in on the juicy fun!
Celebrating the region’s rich strawberry harvest and agricultural heritage, this festival is where strawberries go to shine brighter than Hollywood stars on the red carpet.
Attendees of all ages were treated to a smorgasbord of strawberry-themed activities, showcasing everything from building classic strawberry shortcakes that practically begged for a selfie to chocolate-dipped strawberries that looked too good to eat. Innovative dessert creations flaunted the versatility of this beloved berry, proving that strawberries aren’t just for breakfast anymore!
Local artisans and vendors set up shop, offering handmade crafts and unique goods — a treasure hunt for those who appreciate the artistry beyond just consuming strawberries.
The fairgrounds buzzed with entertainment, including live music and performances, with the Oxnard High School Marching Band making sure no ear was left disengaged as they belted out tunes with their horns, drums, and other instruments.
Adding to the hilarity, fun contests featuring strawberry-themed games had everyone looking for glory — not to mention, the chance to show off their berry best!
The festival not only celebrated strawberries but also fostered a delightful sense of community, uniting local residents and visitors in joyous festivities that supported the local economy and agriculture.
With its warm and friendly atmosphere, the Ventura Strawberry Festival is not just a tribute to strawberries; it’s a delightful showcase of Ventura’s community spirit and creativity, proving once and for all that a good time — and a good berry — can really bring people together!
