Assistance League® of Ventura County Becomes Outreach Alliance of Ventura County

By Ventura Breeze Staff –

After 75 years of dedicated service, the Assistance League® of Ventura County (ALVC) is evolving to better serve the community. Effective April 28, 2025, ALVC has transitioned to Outreach Alliance of Ventura County (OAVC) – a local, community-driven nonprofit organization committed to improving the lives of children and adults throughout Ventura County. OAVC will continue to serve Ventura County through its philanthropic programs:

• B.U.F.F.Y. Bear – Provides comfort and reassurance to children experiencing traumatic events;
• Care Closet – Supplies necessities to children and families during times of emergency;
• Nancy R Brandt – Provides support to sexual assault victims through Safe Harbor and the VC District Attorney’s Office;
• Reading Club – Promotes the love of reading to elementary school students; Scholarships – Supports students at Ventura College and California State University Channel Islands;
• Supplies 4 Success – Supplies underserved students with the resources required to succeed in school; and
• Teens Helping Teens – Develops a team of teenage volunteers and community leaders through philanthropic service.

They are reintroducing these programs, some with new names, refined objectives and an expanded vision, all designed to enhance their impact on the community. As they transition to an independent nonprofit, they gain the flexibility to expand impact, streamline operations, and ensure that every dollar contributed remains within Ventura County.

OAVC’s headquarters will remain at 913 E. Santa Clara St., Ventura. Additionally, their thrift store, the Bargain Box, located at 3351 E. Telegraph Road, Ventura, will remain open, with proceeds directly supporting philanthropic efforts.
