The County of Ventura is transitioning their main website domain from www.ventura.org to www.VenturaCounty.gov. In accordance with this, the url for Ventura County Library will change from vencolibrary.org to library.venturacounty.gov. Please update your bookmarks.
Ventura County Library is participating in the Gun Lock Distribution Program, a collaborative effort between the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Ventura County Public Health, and the Ventura County Library.
For a limited time while supplies last, you can get up to two cable gun locks at no cost, at any Ventura County Library branch. Gun-related deaths are the number one cause of death for children and teens in the United States due to unsecured firearms in homes.
By keeping guns locked and safe from vulnerable populations, the hope is that there will be a reduction in potential deaths. Newer firearms generally come with locks, but older guns that people own or have inherited may need locks.
You must be at least 18 years old to participate. You do not need a library card or to disclose any personal information to pick up a gun lock. Please do not bring guns to the library when picking up locks. For more information about the Gun Lock Program please contact Nancy Schram, Library Director or visit https://www.library.venturacounty.gov/things/gun-safety-locks.
