Tuesday |
5:05pm, received a report of an intoxicated transient on L-dock VIM. Officers responded and found the individual fleeing the area with a bottle of whiskey. He nearly got ran over crossing Harbor and disappeared into the riverbottom.
10:03pm, while on patrol receiving questions and observing people showing up in large numbers to go on the beach to view the bioluminescence show in the ocean. The main question, “when does the light show begin?” |

11:33pm, while on patrol in the vehicle, officers observed approximately 20 vehicles with lots of people searching for the bioluminescence show. |
Thursday |
4:16pm, received a report of a vessel collision at VIM H-I dock. Officers responded and found the vessel that collided with two moored vessels. The skipper advised he fended off and was assisted by neighbors to his slip, safely. No evidence of a collision was discovered, and the skipper was advised to notify the owners of the vessels he may or may not have collided with.
5:40pm, while on patrol in the vehicle, officers observed an individual unconscious in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle. VPD and VFD were summoned to assist in investigation. The patient was determined to be under the influence. A family member was contacted, arrived and drove the person home. |
Friday |
2:05am, received a report of a welfare check on an individual who entered the launch ramp restroom an hour ago and hasn’t exited. Officers responded and found the person in the restroom as reported with no issue, just in the restroom.
8:50am, received a report of a female transient using a power outlet to charge her phone on a private dock near the boatyard. Officers responded, found the individual and issued warning for trespassing. The female left the area, cursing and screaming she owned a boat on the dock. 4:21pm, received a dispatch to a sick person at VWM C-dock. Officers responded and assisted VFD/AMR with the call. The patient was treated than transported to local hospital for further evaluation. |
Saturday |
10:55am, while on patrol, officers observed two separate groups playing volleyball in the closed courts at Harbor Cove Beach. One group was from Los Angeles and the other from a local club. The LA group politely took down their nets and left while the local group were difficult and reluctant to leave.
7:00pm, while on patrol in Rescue Boat 19, officers received a report of a petroleum spill near VWM F-dock. After an investigation, the small sheen was unrecoverable, and no source was located for the spill. |

10:05pm, while on patrol, officers observed many cars driving on Spinnaker Drive, apparently looking for somewhere to park for the bioluminescence show.
11:45pm, while on patrol in the vehicle, officers observed a female sitting on the curb near 1691 Spinnaker Dr. Officers made contact and found the girl to have some mental issues. They retrieved a boyfriend’s phone number and called. He was thankful because she had been missing and was on his way to pick her up. |

3:35pm, while on patrol in the vehicle, officers observed two children chest deep and caught in a rip current near the Surfers Knoll groin. The pair were safely coached to shore out of the current. Officers gave a rip current education. |
Friday |
6:45am, received a MayDay call on VHF 16 from a vessel near the breakwall with a lot of smoke coming from the bilge. Officers responded in the Fireboat to assist. The smoke was steam from overheating engine. The bilge was opened and cleared of steam then the vessel was towed to it’s slip in VIM safely. |
