The VEP Board is proud to announce that the Ventura Education Partnership has awarded over 90 VEPGrants to teachers for their development of creative educational projects that stimulate learning by students. Over $86,000 was awarded.
Madhu Bajaj, President of VEP said “We are so grateful for caring community members and generous business owners who support our teachers with funding to make an amazing, innovative project come alive in the classroom.”
Each year, teachers and staff from VUSD schools and district programs submit short grant proposals which are reviewed and evaluated by a diverse group of readers from VEP and the community. Grants of up to $1,000 each are awarded for projects and activities that supplement core curricula in kindergarten through high school. Many community businesses and organizations support this program through their funding for VEPGrants.
Some of these include MJP Technologies Inc., Community Memorial Health System, Aera Energy, Mountains to Beach Marathon, the City of Ventura through a cultural funding grant and the Rotary Club of Ventura. The Ventura Education Partnership connects community resources to support and sustain innovation in education to benefit VUSD students.
The VEPGrant program was spotlighted at this year’s “Celebrate Innovation” gathering on Wednesday, October 17 at Balboa Middle School’s Salad Bar Farm at 247 S. Hill Rd. VEP donors, volunteers, supporters and teachers shared their stories of how VEPGrants have had an impact in VUSD classrooms.
